Kosovo & Metohia Events

The clergymen of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo and Metohia visit the remaining Serbs and their homes. Protosyncellos Miron - the Abbot of the destroyed St. Mark monastery near Prizren, and priest Aleksandar Naspalic have visited Drajcici village near Prizren. About 150 Serbs, mostly women and children, have stayed in this village. They lack food, and are separated from the world since they are without telephone and radio links. Two days ago, the German soldiers searched only Serbian houses (on the basis of an anonymous denouncement) looking for weapons. As one villager has said the soldiers entered the Orthodox Church of St. Nicola's (dating from 16th century) and searched it too. The people in Drajcici village feel unsafe due to this event: they have no arms to defend, and KFOR soldiers have not proved themselves to be efficient in protecting non-Albanians.

Serbian houses are being set on fire in Sredska village daily, the visitors have reported.

Tihomir Patronogic, aged 80-85, disappeared in Prizren yesterday around 10:30. The old man naively went out to the local post office, intending to report that his telephone is out of order. He did not come back.

The Albanian criminals cast stones yesterday at Orthodox priest Zivojin Trajkovic from Gnjilane. Father Zivojin returned from a funeral of a Serb from Gornji Livoc village, but he had to pass some Albanian houses, where he was attacked.

The Serbs were attacked several times in the area of Gnjilane. In Pasjane village, the Albanians shot at Branko Stevic while he was grazing cattle on the meadow. Branko was not hurt. Two hand grenades were cast in Milivoje Stojkovic's backyard in Gnjilane. Fortunately, no one got hurt here either. Two apartments were entered and moved into by force in Gnjilane: Trajko Mladenovic's and Miodrag Ilic's apartment. Milena Pavicevic and Miodrag Jovanovic were threatened to. In this town, the Albanians seize even telephone connection from the Serbs. For example, Post Office service in Gnjilane took away a telephone connection from Trajko Stojanovic (without any reason) and gave it to an Albanian. This clearly shows anarchy in which the Serbs have been left at the mercy of the Albanian extremists.

KFOR soldiers have found, in the vicinity of Ljosepici village, a car with three Serbs - one was killed, the other wounded and the third unhurt.

Last night, a bomb was cast at a Serbian house: three persons were wounded, one is in critical condition. The Serbs from Gracanica still request that KFOR and UN Civil Mission should find a recently kidnapped Serb Milivoje Popovic.
