Kosovo&Metohia Events

Since the arrival of the peacekeeping forces in the Serbian Kosovo and Metohia, the extermination of the Orthodox Serbs in Prizren continues to happen with the same intensity. During the previous day and night the Serbian houses in this town were again burnt down. The Albanians first set on fire one Serbian house in Podkaljaja, the Serbian part of town, in Aca Martinovic Street, yesterday at 23:00. Afterwards, five Serbian houses in the same street were burnt down until the morning. And next day, three more Serbian houses in Dragoljuba Ilica Street, one Serbian house in Branka Radicevica Street, and another one in Svetozara Markovica Street were burnt down.

Father Ilija Smigic, parish priest of Prizren, stated the names of the families from Drajcici village, near Prizren, to Pravoslavlje Press. The Albanians broke into the apartment in Gnjilane of the Serb Miko Lazic, plundered the house of Radmila Vasic and of many other Serbs. Vladko Arsic's apartment was also looted. Two Serbs from Silovo village, near Gnjilane, - Stojan Djokic and Vladimir Stojanovic - were beaten in the town outskirts.

The house of the Serb Dragan Tesic (who had been killed in that house - in front of his mother's eyes a month ago) was set on fire in Vitina.

As Church-National Board in Gnjilane reports through amateur radio operators, the Albanians attacked the Serbs today as well, casting bombs and launching grenades. Two Serbian villages near Gnjilane were attacked, and three bombs exploded in the town thus hurting two Serbs. This morning, during the attack with automatic weapons on several Serbs from Pasjane village, Stanko Milenkovic (aged 62) was hurt. Yesterday in the afternoon, Cvetko Arsic was seriously hurt by a hand grenade; he was in the backyard of the house when a bomb, cast over the wall, exploded 2-3 m away. He had been under pressure to move out of his house for more than a month. A bomb was also cast at Risto Trajkovic's house. Fortunately, the bomb hit the window frame and caused only material damage, without hurting anyone in the house. Another hand grenade was cast at the house of Dragoljub Stamenkovic who saved himself by lying face downwards on the floor.

The grenades were launched and shots were serially fired from many directions at the Serbian part of Cernica village, numbering 110 Serbian homes. One grenade, out of many that were launched, blew up the roof of Dragan Petrovic's house, where three brothers of the Petrovic family live with nine children. The material damage is enormous, but no one was hurt. Some of the launched grenades fell in the backyard of Zvonimir Jankovic and Slobodan Todorovic. Zlata Savic' s apartment in Gnjilane was entered into by force, Bojan Denic's house was demolished earlier, Svetozar Vuckovic's glass cutting store was set on fire, the merchandise from Jugoslav Jovic's store was plundered, Dragan Stojanovic's car was stolen by the Albanians in front of the garage at dawn.

Tonight, at 22:00, a bomb has been cast in Dobrila Dolasevic (aged 68) house in Prizren, 33 Cara Lazara Street; this family is among the oldest ones in this town. When Dobrila's house was attacked, her son-in-law Ilija Senic (aged 45) was in it, as well as his wife Suncica (aged 44) and their daughter Darija (aged 23 - the only girl that has stayed in the town). The hand grenade thrown through the window has caused a great material damage, but, fortunately, no one was hurt.
