Kosovo&Metohia Events

The Church-National Board in Gnjilane informed through amateur radio operators that Mladen Denkic, aged 76, was shot in the belly thus being seriously wounded, in the street, in front of his own house, this morning around 8:00. An unknown Albanian shot him. KFOR doctors managed to remove the bullet and transport Mladen, whose state is very difficult, into a military hospital near Urosevac. His life is still endangered. Besides this case, several explosions were heard in the town.

Around fifty Serbs, escorted by KFOR, visited today the Serbian graveyard in Kosovska Mitrovica, that is located in the region controlled by the Albanians. They were witnesses to a horrible sight: more than 200 tombs in this graveyard are destroyed. On a new grave, a cross was taken out and broken into three pieces. The graveyard chapel was torn down. While the Serbian graveyard is in such a condition, the Muslim graveyard, located in the region populated by the Serbs, is intact, and the Serbs say they will not settle their accounts with the Albanians through graves and tombs.

Yesterday, around 13:00, the Albanians tore down the monument of Dositej Obradovic, a famous Serbian educator who lived in the beginning of 19th century, that was situated in the yard of Pristina University Office. We want to remind that the monuments to Njegos and Vuk Karadzic in Pristina, to Prince Lazar in Gnjilane, to Tzar Dusan, consul Jastrebov and Sima Igumanov in Prizren, and many others.

Among the persons of the Serbian nationality in Pristina whose apartments were either plundered or seized by force are: Slavko Milenkovci, Radoslav Maljic, Branislav Stojkovic, Danica Savic, Spasenija Djordjevic, Milka Cerljakovic, Dusica Djoric, Jana Jovanovic, Zivotije Djordjevic and many others.
