FROM 25 JANUARY, UNTIL 1 FEBRUARY 1998
On 27 January 1998, at about 9.15 p.m.,
policeman Sasha Markoviq from the village
of Reçan near Kamenica, heavily wounded
Avdi Rasim Neziri (13.07.1981) from
Kamenica, who died the next day due to the injuries
suffered in the Hospital of Prishtina.
Avdi was selling cigarettes in order to support
his family, when the plainclothed policeman
put his revolver on Avdi's ear and shot. Sasha
and a colleague of his dragged wounded
Avdi several metres from the spot.
On 27 January 1998, at about 6.30 p.m.,
in Belgrade, "Zmaj Jovina" st.43, unidentified
persons killed Albanians Jakup Avduti (36), father
of two, living in Prizren, "Sprio Mosiu"
st.14, and Haki Avduti (41), father of four,
living in Prizren, "Boris Kidriç" st.3.
25 JANUARY:
KLINA: After two blusts in the Serbian quarter
in Grabanica, the situation in Klina and
surrounding is very tense. Plainclothed and uniformed
Serbian policemen checked the
identities of and raided the passers-by. In the
evening, police went to the house of Qamil
Berisha in Grabanica and physically ill-treated
his 64-year-old mother. Policemen stopped
and checked the identities of catholic Albanians
who were returning from the mass in the
church. Groups of policemen went to Albanians'
caffees and shops and checked the
identities of all guests. Police stopped dr.
Mexhit Toplana, a physician from Kijeva, and
another citizen and kept them at the police station
for two hours.
MITROVICA: The delivery of drafting summons
has been going on. Such summons
were received by Nexhat Bajram Bajrami (17),
"Ura e Gjakut" quarter and Xhelal Rizah
Beqiri (17) from Tërrstena. Some policemen
situated in the outskirts of Skënderaj stopped
and checked the identities of Xhafer Isuf Preteni
(28) and Shukri Mehmet Musliu (39),
"Tavnik" quarter, who were on their way to visit
the family of Shaban Jashari in Prekaz i
Poshtëm.
PRISHTINA: Three plainclothed policemen
arrested Arben Dushullovci (1979), "Matija
Gubec" st.30, while he was selling cigarettes
in "Bregu i Diellit" quarter and looted
cigarettes estimated DM 100 from him. On being
threatened, Arben was released.
VUSHTRRI: Two uniformed policemen and a
plainclothed one searched for Ajet Ali
Mernica, who has been living in Germany for 4
years. They threatened Ajet's father Ali with
arrest if he did not give the correct address
of his son.
PRISHTINA: In the communique given by Serbian
police and published by Serbian
media of Prishtina and Belgrade, it is said that
last night at about 7.50 p.m. in Malisheva,
two Serbian policemen were wounded in a "terrorist
attack". Their names were not given. It
is also written that last night at about 8.40
p.m. in the village of Grabanica near Klina,
"there was a blust in a building where Serbian
policemen live" and "only material damage
was caused".
26 JANUARY:
MITROVICA: In the villages of Reka and Tunel
i Parë near Mitrovica, some policemen
were situated and checked the identities of the
passers-by, stopped and raided the cars
passing by. Large police forces situated at the
gas station in the outskirts of Vushtrri
stopped, checked the identities of and looted
DM 40 from Sabit Sadri Istrefi (30) from
Bajgora, living in Shipol. Sabit was also physically
ill-treated.
VUSHTRRI: In the outskirts of Vushtrri,
large police forces stopped, checked the
identities of and raided all citizens coming
to and leaving Vushtrri.
PRISHTINA: In the green market, police
physically ill-treated Mustafë Haxhiu (53) from
Tërrnava near Skënderaj only because
he is from this district. Policemen injured him
heavily, looted DM 150 from him and asked him
on the whereabouts of his son Muhamet,
who they had searhed for before.
Two policemen stopped and checked the identity
of Hashim Rexhepi (1970) from Zabel i
Epërm near Gllogoc. On finding out that
he is from Gllogoc, police raided his car, looted
DM 50 from him and physically ill-treated him.
He was also threatened with liquidation if he
reported his case.
KLINA: In the vicinity of police station,
a police squad lead by Lazar Zhivkoviq,
stopped, checked the identities of and arrested
many citizens. Three policemen, one of
them called Milosheviq, stopped, checked the
identity of and physically ill-treated Halil
Kajtaz Bimbashi (1961), "7 Korriku" st., who
suffered bad injuries.
In downtown Klina, the following persons were
arrested: Hysni Kryeziu, a worker at "Rudi"
tea shop; Qamil Berisha, a salesman; Mexhit Toplana,
a physician from Kijeva; Argjend
Qupeva from Pogragja; Fatmir Qupeva from Qupeva;
Bashkim Krasniqi from Përqeva;
Agim Shala from Ujmir.
In the vicinity of "Zastava" battery factory
in Peja, traffic policemen stopped Santian Tomë
Demiri (1978), a pupil from Deiç, and
fined him with 200 dinars on the pretext that his car
was not working properly even though they did
not check the car itself. As Santian did not
have enough money on him, policemen physically
ill-treated him, injured him, prevented
him from going to Peja and forced him to go back
to Klina. On his arrival to Klina, he had
to seek for medical help.
PEJA: Police checked the identities of
citizens in many caffes, restaurants, at the bus
station. Frequent movements of police have been
noticed in villages, especially during the
nights.
SKëNDERAJ: In Prishtina, police stopped
and provoked Safet Bejta (1978) from
Prekaz i Epërm and Arben Durmishi (1979)
from Rakinica.
FERIZAJ: At about 9 p.m., at the house
of Dushan Marjanoviq, "Zenel Hajdini" st.,
there was a blust from an indentified thing without
causing any damage.
BELGRADE: Natasha Kandiq, chairwoman of
the Humanitarian Law Fund in Serbia,
stated for the daily "Dnevni Telegraf" that Fatmir
Syla, an Albanian from Mitrovica, have
exchanged only the words "Mother, mother!" with
his mother for 4 years now. The only
reason for this is that Fatmir has not been allowed
to speak to his mother in Albanian, and
his mother does not speak any other language.
27 JANUARY:
MITROVICA: There were military movements
on both directions of the way Prishtina-
Mitrovica. A military vehicle was drawing a cannon
of small calibre. Three policemen went
into the "Mali" tea shop and took out Xhevdet
Ahmet Zeneli (18) from Mazhiq, living in
Mitrovica, "7 Shtatori" quarter. He was subjected
to physical ill-treatment until he fainted
and in that condition he was put into his car.
KLINA: Large police forces went in the
direction of Jashanica, whereas a helicopter
flew over Gjurgjevik i Madh, Pogragja and Jashanica
near Klina, as well as over Broja
near Skënderaj. Five policemen and two civilians,
all of them were armed, intervened in
the "Rudi" tea shop, raided it and physically
ill-treated Hysni Hamzë Kryeziu (1959), its
owner. He was also taken to the police station
and after being interrogated on his guests,
he was released.
In many primary schools, Albanian pupils were
prevented from conducting their lectures,
because Serbs were celebrating the "St. Sava's
day".
Police squads were situated in the way Resnik-Jellovc,
in Qupeva quarter in Pogragja, in
the direction of Ujmir, Skënderaj and the
way Peja-Prishtina. they stopped, checked the
identities of citizens and raided many cars.
In the outskirts of Videja, a group of armed
Serbian civilians stopped and checked the
identity of Marjan Pren Marku (1967) from Videja.
Among the civilians were Slobodan
Raciq and Branko Sharkoviq, Mark's neighbours.
They checked Mark's car, threatened
him and later on, released him.
policemen beat up Refki Sinan Elezaj from Gjurgjevik
on the pretext that he had not
stopped his car when he was returning from Klina.
PRISHTINA: Three policemen and a civilian
took Mehmet Aliu (1946), "Jabllanica"
st.211, owner of the house-school and interrogated
him on the whereabouts of his sons
and his brother Ahmet, who are currently living
abroad. In the meantime, they summoned
his nephew Avdullah for interrogation. Mehmet
was ordered to report to the police station
again today after 6 p.m.
About 10-12 policemen went into the "Venera"
cafe, owned by Naim Mehmeti (1964), an
economical technician, "Prizreni" st.26, raided
the shop and checked the identities of and
insulted the guests.
SUHAREKA: In downtown Mushtisht, police
raided all vehicles passing by. Military
authorities delivered drafting summons to Albanian
youngsters.
FUSHë-KOSOVA: A group of 10 Serbian
youngsters went into the hall of house-
school of the "Mihal Grameno" Primary School
singing Serbian songs. Teachers expelled
them to the yard, but they attacked Nijazi Jashari,
a teacher. After five minutes, they made
efforts to enter the school again. As they failed,
the hooligans started to break the
windows, due to what several pupils sitting next
to the windows suffered injuries. One of
the parents had called the police, but they did
not undertake anything saying "this is not a
school". Police asked about the attackers and
took the personal data from Nijazi Jashari, a
teacher, and Isa Grajçevci, a parent.
Today, five Serbian hooligans, in the presence
of a policeman, attacked some pupils of
"Hivzi Sylejmani" Gymnasium. One of them, aged
about 25, took out the revolver and the
knife, whereas the others hit the pupils, due
to what Agron Berjani suffered severe injuries.
He had to seek medical help at the Health Care,
whereas Driton Drenovci suffered light
injuries. Pupils Vjollca Gërguri and Elhame
Shalaku were attacked, too.
GJILAN: Skënder Kurti (1967) from
Bresalc, an LDK activist, was summoned for
"informative talks" at the police station in
Gjilan. Inspector Sinisha Paviq interrogated him
on the elections within the LDK and ordered him
to report again on 5 February.
LIPJAN: Three Serbian youngsters provoked
and physically attacked pupils of the
Gymnasium in Lipjan: Brahim Gashi and Adonis
Maksuti, who suffered body injuries.
SHTIME: Police stopped Z. Beqiri, a carrier
of "Gazeta Shqiptare", and took all the
copies destined for Shtime, Ferizaj and Viti.
They took him to the police station, where he
was forced to translate parts from the newspaper
and ordered him to report on 28
January.
28 JANUARY:
DEÇAN: Early in the morning, at about
5.45 a.m., large police forces (about 70
policemen in armoured cars) surrounded Tahirsylaj
quarter in Isniq for seven hours.
Without warning, police started the fire towards
the houses and attacked the families of
Tahir Tahirsylaj and Nezir Hysen Tahirsylaj of
26 members, entering their bedrooms while
they were still sleeping. Police put family members
(12 children and 7 women) in one
room. After seven hours of surrounding, demolition
and destruction, police arrested and
physically ill-treated seven members of this
family and took them to the police station in
Deçan. The following ones were arrested:
dr. Arif Tahirsylaj (1947), a physician; Shaqë
Tahirsylaj (1959); Dervish Sh. Tahirsylaj (20);
Florim Sh. Tahirsylaj (18); Naser Hysen
Tahirsylaj (20); Arbër H. Tahirsylaj (18)
and Ylber H. Tahirsylaj (16). Police entered the
yards of 17 other families of this quarter and
raided the house of Nezir Azem Tahirsylaj
(1952). In the late hours of the evening, Shaqë,
Dervish, Florim and Ylber Tahirsylaj were
released, whereas Arif, Naser and Arbër
Tahirsylaj were sent in pre-trial detention in Peja.
Those released had to seek medical help due to
the injuries suffered.
According to the information of Sub-CDHRF
in Deçan, members of Tahirsylaj family
had resisted the police attack, when they had
entered the first floor. In order to break the
resistance, police had put Durim Tahirsylaj (10
years old) and his mother as hostages in
front of them.
Today at about 3 p.m., over 30 policemen
surrounded and raided the house of
Demush Zeqir Memaj (40) in Llukë e Epërme
and arrested Demush and his brother Faik
(35), whom they beat up in the presence of the
villagers.
SUHAREKA: In Shiroka, in the way Suhareka-Prizren,
a group of policemen and
soldiers raided all cars and citizens. Such checks
have become frequent by the road
Suhareka-Carraleva.
MITROVICA: A column of military vehicles
paraded in the centre of the town and went
towards Peja. Such movements were noticed in
the road Mitrovica-Stantërg.
In downtown Zveçan, a group of Serbs held
a protest due to the killing of Desimir Vasiq,
who was found dead in Jashanica near Klina on
24 January. They accused Albanians for
this mysterious murder and demanded weapons against
them.
In the outskirts of Vushtrri, large police forces
stopped and checked the car of Sabit Rushit
Barani (37), "Tavnik" quarter. They searched
for weapons and ill-treated him physically.
KLINA: Large police forces checked the
identities of and raided all Albanian citizens in
the streets and private shops.
SKëNDERAJ: A column of military vehicles
accompanied by a police armoured car,
was situated in the crossroad Runik-Radisheva.
After the observation, they withdrew
towards Qirez, Beqiq and Vushtrri. The whereabouts
of Idriz Rexhep Idrizi (1952) from
Prekaz i Epërm, a worker at the "Azem Bejta"
Primary School in Prekaz i Poshtëm, are still
unknown.
29 JANUARY:
DEÇAN: In Deçan and surrounding,
the situation is very tense and police forces have
been terrorising the Albanian population under
the pretext of searching weapons. Three
masked persons (Serbian speaking) stopped and
beat up Bekë Haradinaj (1970) from
Gllogjan with the rifle butt. Due to injuries
suffered, Beka had to seek medical help.
MALISHEVA: After the incident on 24 January,
police forces have been harassing the
inhabitants. On Bajram's Day, over 40 uniformed
and plainclothed policemen were
situated in the outskirts of Malisheva, where
they stopped, insulted and physically ill-
treated a number of citizens. The following persons
were ill-treated at the police station: Ali
Krasniqi from Tërpeza, Sabit and Salih Hoti
from Malisheva, Jemin and Muharrem Vrenezi
from Maralia, Isa and Fatmir Morina from Lubizhda.
Brothers Gani and Fatmir H. Gashi
from Balinca were arrested yesterday and were
kept at the police station of Prizren until
today at 3 p.m. They were subjected to severe
physical ill-treatment under the pretext of
being "members of KLA" and transporting weapons
for KLA.
VUSHTRRI: Military forces paraded in Balinca,
Okrashtica, Pantina, etc, whereas
police forces situated in the outskirts of Vushtrri
have been stopping and checking the
identities of the passers-by.
MITROVICA: Three policemen stopped Avdullah
Sadri Ferizi (30) from Shipol, imam
at the mosque of Vllahia, and took him to the
police station of Zveçan. They raided him
and found a booklet with the names of people
that had paid the membership in the Islamic
Community. Accusing him for "collecting that
money for terrorists", police physically ill-
treated him.
30 JANUARY:
DEÇAN: In downtown Deçan,
police arrested the following persons: Sali Shoshi (23),
a student from Dujaka (Gjakova); Muhamet Dervish
Çekaj (30); Astrit Murat Çekaj and
Murat Rrustem Çekaj, the three from Irzniq
(Deçan). The pretext is unknown. Murat was
released, whereas Sali was taken to the Security
Centre in Peja.
SKëNDERAJ: In Prekaz i Epërm,
police forces surrounded the house of Xhafer Syla
and observed the near-by houses of Hajdar, Shasivar
and Jonuz Syla. Meanwhile, they
stopped and checked the identities of all passers-by.
PEJA: Two Security inspectors searched
for brothers Naser (36) and Enver Ibërdemaj
(33) from Nabërgjan, who have been living
in Germany for 10 or 11 years. Inspectors
threatened their mother Zelfije (62) and left
them orders to report to the police station on 2
February.
MITROVICA: In the place called Kodra e
Klinës së Epërme, in the way Mitrovica-
Skënderaj, large police forces stopped,
checked the identities of and ill-treated many
passers-by, among whom were brothers Fadil (25),
a former policeman, and Musli Rexhep
Musliu (35) from Kozhica near Skënderaj,
living in Mitrovica, "Bair" quarter. Among the
policemen was Vuçina Janiqijeviq, a commander-in-chief
at the police station of Vushtri,
who recognized his former colleague Fadil and
insulted him on a national basis.
In the outskirts of Vushtrri, police stopped
Gani Bajram Barani (48) and Nexhat Mehmet
Barani (35), "Qendra" quarter, who had been to
belgrade to visit a relative in hospital.
From 10 p.m., until the early hours of the morning,
large police forces stopped, checked
the identities of and physically ill-treated
many Albanian citizens in the main street of the
town, in quarters "Tavnik", "Ura e Gjakut", "Bair",
Shipol and near-by the bus station.
GJILAN: Hysri Selimi (1965), a merchant
from Bresalc, an LDK activist, was
summoned for "informative talks" at the Security
Centre in Gjilan. Security inspector
Sinisha Paviq interrogated him on his activity
within PPK and "which members of PPK are
members of KLA".
HANI I ELEZIT: At the border with Macedonia,
Serbian police confiscated all material
taken in Kosova from Dushka Jurishiq, a journalist
of Bosnia-Herzegovina Television, and
kept her for "informative talks" for more than
two hours.
31 JANUARY:
DEÇAN: Large police forces accompanied
by armoured cars surrounded quarters
Ahmetgjekaj and Januzaj in Isniq at 6 a.m. They
raided the families of Halil Mujë
Ahmetgjekaj and Zenun and Ramë Januzaj.
Police demolished the interior and arrested:
Beqir Mujë Ahmetgjekaj, Kamer Adem Ahmetgjekaj
(23) and Ramë Sylë Jonuzaj. They
also searched for Amir Zenun Jonuzaj, a student,
who was not at home. Police raided the
house of Haki Muharrem Mushkolaj in Deçan
on the pretext of searching for Naser Beqir
Ahmetgjekaj. As they failed to find Naser, police
took his brother Enver Beqir Ahmetgjekaj
(14) hostage, who was on a visit at his uncles.
Meanwhile, Fatos Bajram Krasniqi from
Prapaqan near Deçan "disappeared", but
it is supposed that he and Kamer Ahmetgjekaj
from Isniq were arrested.
According to the information from Deçan,
police have been raiding the Balaj quarter, which
is worsening the situation, whereas in downtown
Isniq, people from this village have been
gathering. It is very concerning that the situation
might escalate and get worser.
SKëNDERAJ: In Klina e Poshtme, Serbian
police physically ill-treated many passers-
by, among whom were: Xhavit Kalleci (1971), a
merchant from Polac, who suffered severe
injuries on his genital organs and legs; brothers
Lutfi (1969) and Mustafë (1979) Krasniqi
from Vojnika, were beaten up in the presence
of the children aged 2 and 4 and suffered
injuries on their heads and other parts of the
bodies; Naim Hajdini (1966) from Klina e
Poshtme; his cousin Fazli Hajdini was threatened
and psychologically ill-treated. Due to
the injuries suffered, they were compelled to
seek medical help.
VUSHTRRI: Early in the morning, large police
forces with military vehicles, 4 tanks
and 3 armoured cars stationed in Frashër,
moved to Okrashtica, Balinca and Pirq, where
random shots were heard. Qamil Hajrizi from Strofc,
who had been searched for weapons
the day before, reported at the police station
today and was released on the condition to
report again on 2 February.
GLLOGOC: Police forces with 2 armoured
cars and 7 vehiles were situated at the
police station of Gllogoc.
MITROVICA: In the vicinity of the bus station
in Mitrovica, about 15 policemen and a
security inspector stopped and ill-treated many
passers-by from 8.20 p.m. Among those
that suffered injuries were: Fatmir Resulica
(23) and Fatmir Sulejmani (27), both from
Prishtina, who had been on a visit to a relative
of theirs. Police stopped them, checked
their identities, arrested them and took them
to their office at the bus station. There, police
physically ill-treated them until 11.30 without
any reason. Other ill-treated persons were
Skënder Sefedin Latifi (35), "Ura e Gjakut"
quarter; Bajram Raif Avdiu (29), "Tavnik"
quarter; Fatmir Qazim Merovci (25) from Dobërlluka
near Vushtrri; Xhevdet Ibish Kadriu
(24), "Ura e Gjakut" quarter.
Police inspectors raided many private shops looting
hard currency from Fatmir Ali Brahimi
(34) - DM 194. In the shops of Blerim Ahmet Brahimi
(34), Basri Mustafë Brahimi (35) and
Hamit Zejnullah Jusufi (25), police failed to
find any hard currency and threatened them. At
the bus station in Zhazha, three traffic policemen
stopped and checked the identities of
Abit Fejzullah Miftari (46) from Vllahia, an
LDK activist, Avni Izet Peci (30) and Xhevdet
Istref Peci (30) - both from Zhazha.
During their training between villages of Vaganica
and Frashër, military forces came near
the houses harassing the inhabitants.
PRISHTINA: In a letter addressing the CDHRF,
Bajram Shehu (1960) from the village
of Greme near Kaçanik, temporarily employed
in Switzerland (Muhlefur str.2 875,
Ennenda, Switzerland), and written on 27 January
1998 and published in "Bujku" and
"Koha Ditore", describes the torture perpetrated
by Serbian State Security. He was
subjected to torture since was "kidnapped" on
15 until 19 January 1998 on the pretext that
he is a member of National Movement and KLA.
"On their threats to liquidate me and my
wife and children, I gave a self-incriminating
statements and promised to collaborate with
them in future..."
1 FEBRUARY:
SKëNDERAJ: Police harassment has been
continuing in the district of Skënderaj.
Police stopped Lushtaku family travelling with
two cars and in the presence of women and
children, beat up Sulejman, Ali, Jetullah and
Avdi Lushtaku, all from Prekaz i Poshtëm.
They psychologically ill-treated and provoked
other members of this family: Afije, Rrahime,
Sadije, Remzije, Istref, Nazif, Can, Fejzullah
and Ukë Lushtaku and Fazlije Shala-
Lushtaku, Zena's wife. Zenë Lushtaku gave
the statement and stated that among the ill-
treated was Hajriz Lushtaku (81), all from Prekaz
i Poshtëm. Apart from two police cars,
there was a tank as well, whereas policemen were
situated in the basement of a near-by
house. Drivers of the cars were fined with 150
dinars each. There were other ill-treated
persons that did not report their cases.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
MALISHEVA: During the police intervention
on 24 January, Jetfir Mursel Mazreku
(1975) and Blerim Murat Mazreku (1978) from Mazrek
were wounded. At the critical
moment, they were in Qamil Mazreku's car. The
very same night, police raided the houses
of Mursel Gashi, a physician, and Cen Desku,
member of the Board of the LDK branch in
Malisheva. The following persons were beaten
up: Shaban Krasniqi (1942), a pensioner;
Beqir and Ahmet Berisha; Arben and Malush Hoti
- all from Malisheva; Bashkim Gashi
from Vërmica; Milazim and Ramadan Thaçi
and Mon Dulli from Shkarashniku; Nazmije
Krasniqi from Malisheva; Ahmet and Rexhep Morina
from Astrazup; Sefedin Mozhani, a
professor from Malisheva. The ill-treated ones
are: Mursel Gashi, Ramadan Krasniqi, Arif
Hoti, Naim M. Masreku and his pregnant wife Shpresa,
Vesel Hoti - all from Malisheva;
Enver Hoti and Feriz Krasniqi from Carralluka;
Hamit Thaçi from Mirusha and Sadik Zogaj
from Bellanica.
KLINA: On 9 January, two armed policemen
introducing themselves as security
inspectors stopped the car of Ferat Alush Balaj
(1965) from Gllareva, temporarily
employed in Germany. They took him out and severely
ill-treated him until he fainted on
the pretext that he had broken the traffic rules.
On 24 January, two policemen stopped and checked
the identity of Refki Sinan Elezaj
(1973) from Gjurgjevik i Vogël. After the
psychological ill-treatment and the thorough raid
of the car, they took him to the police station
of Klina, where he was subjected to
interrogation, threats and physical ill-treatment.
ISTOG: On 16 January, Islam Muzuliaj from
Uça, member of the Board of the PPK
branch in Istog and his brother Hysen were summoned
for weapons to the police station.
PRISHTINA: On 20 January, near-by the National
Theatre of Kosova, two policemen
stopped and checked the identities of Naim Hajrizi
(1978), a cook, and Selman Haxholli -
both from Hajvalia, and physically ill-treated
them.
SKëNDERAJ: On 20 January, Mustafë
(1972) and Nebih (1978) Haliti from Vojnika
were stopped and their identities were checked
by the police in Klina. Finding out that they
were from Skënderaj, the two were physically

MITROVICA: On 21 January, Besim Fazli Dobruna
(19), "Bair" quarter, an asylum-
seeker repatriated from Switzerland, was subjected
to physical ill-treatment at the Prishtina
airport in Sllatina on the pretext that he spoke
no Serbian.
On 22 January, police searched for weapons at
the house of Hysen H. Haxhiu (54) in
Vaganica.
On 23 and 24 January, two police inspectors searched
for Fuad Qamil Dedolli (31),
"Qendra" quarter, who is currently living abroad.
They ordered his sister Luljeta to tell
about his whereabouts.
On 24 January, near-by the gas station in the
outskirts of Vushtrri, some policemen
stopped Fatmir Ali Brahimi (33), "Bair" quarter,
and Smajl Qerim Shabani (30) from Shipol.
They were kept for 4 hours and were fined with
800 dinars on the pretext of having too
much goods in their truck. As Smajl gave them
400 dinars, police let them continue their
trip to Mitrovica.
In the vicinity of the market in Mitrovica, policemen
Boban, Nenad and Ratko stopped and
checked the identity of Berat Mustafë Tahiri,
"Ura e Gjakut" quarter, looted 150 dinars from
him and physically ill-treated him.
GJILAN: On 23 January, three policemen
raided the house of Skënder Fazliu (1958),
a physician, "Ferizaji" st.214, and threatened
to take his wife hostage instead of him.
Policeman called Zoran, threatened her not to
report her case.
VUSHTRRI: On 24 January, in the way Vushtrri-Prishtina,
4 policemen stopped,
checked the identities of and ill-treated Sahit
S. Ademi from Gërdoc near Podujeva and his
wife Hanife because he got his driving licence
in Germany. He returned from Germany
after 4 years' stay. Police threatened to accuse
him for "hostile activity in Germany" and
looted DM 300 from him.
