FROM 1 FEBRUARY UNTIL 8 FEBRUARY 1998
1 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: Over 15 policemen, some of them
masked, and two civilians,
accompanied by an armoured car and other vehicles,
were situated at the bus station in
the evening. They stopped, checked the identities
of and ill-treated Albanian passers-by.
Afrim Jakup Voca (35) from "Tavnik" quarter,
one of the ill-treated persons, reported his
case to the sub-CDHRF.
In Skënderaj, police stopped the car
driven by Ajet Milazim Baliu (46), chairman of the
LDK sub-branch in the village of Kopriva near
Mitrovica, accompanied by 4 friends. On
checking their identities, police took Milazim
out of the car and kept him in the cold for two
hours. They fined him with 150 dinars and released
him.
PEJA: In the vicinity of Peja, police stopped
the car, which brothers Enver (1969) and
Esat Ali Gashi (1966) from Sferka were in, took
off the plates, physically ill-treated them
and then, give them the plates back and ordered
them not to report their cases.
KLINA: Radoica A. Tomiq, a Serbian, paraded
with an automatic gun in his hands
through the road of the village of Dugajeva.
2 FEBRUARY:
DEÇAN: The following persons, detained
from 27 until 31 January, are still kept under
arrest in the prison of Peja: dr. Arif Tahirsylaj
(47), a physician; Naser H. Tahirsylaj (20);
Arbër H. Tahirsylaj (18); Kamer A. Ahmetxhekaj
(23) and Naser B. Ahmetxhekaj (18), a
student, - all from Isniq; Demush Z. Memaj (40),
Faik Memaj (35) and Bashkim Memaj - all
from Lluka e Epërme; Fatos B. Krasniqi (21),
a student from Prapaqan and Sali Shoshi
(23), a student from Dujaka near Gjakova, who
is in a very deteriorated condition.
The following persons, who were taken hostage,
were released: Ramë S. Januzaj, a
teacher; Enver B. Ahmetxhekaj (14), a pupil;
Ramë Januzaj - all from Isniq; as well as the
arrested ones: Muhamet Çekaj (30), a farmer;
Astrit Çekaj (20), a pupil; Murat Çekaj (20),
a pensioner - all from Irzniq; Shaqë Tahirsylaj
(59), a farmer; Dervish Sh. Tahirsylaj (26);
Florim Sh. Tahirsylaj (18); Ylber H. Tahirsylaj
(16), a pupil - all from Isniq.
Three armed plainclothed persons, Serbian
speaking, beat-up Bekë Haradinaj (28)
near-by his house in Gllogjan.
MITROVICA: A bus, an ambulance car and
other vehicles with armed policemen and
soldiers, among whom were women, paraded through
the town. During their parade, they
directed the weapons towards the houses and shops
in the way towards Skënderaj and
Peja. Over 10 policemen and 2 civilians, accompanied
by an armoured car and 3 police
vehicles, were situated at the bus station and
at the "Mokra Gora" Enterprise, where they
stopped, checked the identities of and physically
ill-treated Albanian passers-by. Ylber
Sefer Durmishi (30) and Ramadan Nezir Osmani
(47) - teachers of Gymnasium "Frang
Bardhi", "Tavnik" quarter, stated that they underwent
routine checking and were kept more
than an hour.
SKëNDERAJ: At the crossroad of Skënderaj
and Klina e Poshtme, a police squad
stopped the car driven by Miradie Beka from Kuçica,
who works with her husband in
Sweden. Police ruined all video tapes and presents
of their children and relatives.
The Ammunition Plant "Trepça" must
be transfered to Banjska or Zubin-Potok,
inhabited by Serbs, for "safety reasons".
KAÇANIK: Eight policemen and four
civilians searched for weapons at the house of
brothers Behxhet (1958), unemployed, and Bajram
Isman Imishti (1961) from Dubrava,
employed abroad. Both were subjected to physical
ill-treatment and were taken to the
Security Centre in Ferizaj. They were ordered
to report again.
ISTOG: Ramadan R. Sadikaj, an LDK activist,
and Salih B. Sejdiaj from Studenica,
were summoned to the police station. They were
subjected to interrogation on the activity
of the LDK and the cement pillars damaged in
the place called "Bregu i kishës". The police
threatened with the ill-treatment of the villagers
if the perpetrators would not be handed in".
3 FEBRUARY:
PEJA: The Law Enforcement authorities arrested
Jahja Lluka, chairman of the
Association for the Repatriation of Albanians
in Homeland, who was sentenced to a term
of three years imprisonment two years ago.
MITROVICA: In the vicinity of the bus station,
two policemen stopped brothers Shahin
(39) and Haxhi Mursel Haxhiu (46) from Tërrnavc
and Bedri Nuredin Hetemi (23) from
Kllodernica near Skënderaj and 4 other persons
from the district of Skënderaj. On
checking their identities, police took them to
their offices at the bus station and physically
ill-treated them. They looted DM 230 from Shahin
and DM 380 from Bedri. Shahin was
subjected to interrogation on the whereabouts
of Muhamet Haxhiu (28) from Tërrnavc.
Two policemen, one of them Ratko Antonijeviq,
went to the house of Hetem Hamzë
Asllani (60), "Ura e Gjakut" quarter and searched
for his son Isri (19). As they failed to find
him, the policemen arrested his brother Isni
(18), whom they interrogated and later on duly
released.
Three policemen raided the house of Shahin Rama
and looted 500 packs of cigarettes
from his son Sefedin Rama.
Three vehicles with military superiors
paraded through downtown Mitrovica and left
towards Skënderaj, Gllogoc and Peja. Shefqet
Rrahman Sahiti (62), "Tavnik" quarter, was
summoned again for weapons to the police station.
SKëNDERAJ: Over 20 policemen with
an armoured car and two other vehicles were
situated at the crossroad of Skënderaj and
Klina e Poshtme. They stopped the cars
passing by and checked the identities of all
passengers and passers-by. They looted 60
dinars from Abdullah Dobra (1971) from Kryshec
and threatened him with the automatic
gun. At the very same place, the police stopped,
checked the identities of and provoked a
group of pupils, among whom were Valdet and Murtez
Jashari from Prekaz i Poshtëm.
Both were subjected to physical ill-treatment
and suffered severe injuries. Police stopped
and checked the identities of Idriz Rrecaj, chairman
of the LDK branch in Skënderaj, and
Adem Meta, a technical secretary at the sub-CDHRF
in Skënderaj. They were looted 105
dinars and later on released them.
VITIA: Imri Neziri (1962) from Tërpeza,
an economist, member of the Board of the
LDK branch in Viti, was summoned to the Security
Centre. Inspector Krsta Marinkovic
interrogated him on his political activity and
the activity of the LDK, elections within the
LDK, etc. Two policemen went into the office
of Feti Hetemi, a physician, and took his
personal data. Other physicians were forced to
give such data.
GLLOGOC: At the Prishtina airport in Sllatina,
police arrested Gani N. Dibrani (1957)
from Gradica, an asylum-seeker repatriated from
Germany.
ISTOG: Beqir B. Sadikaj (1954), a lecturer
at the Faculty of Law in Prishtina, an LDK
activist, and Zenun R. Sadikaj from Studenica
were summoned to the Security Centre in
Istog, where they were subjected to interrogation
on the activity of the LDK and damaged
cement pillars in Studenica.
FERIZAJ: Large military forces (about 150-200
soldiers) were situated in Gërlica near
Komogllava and have been manouevring in Gllavica
Mountains.
Veli Veliu (1949) from Prelez i Epërm, an
LDK activist, was summoned for "informative
talks" at the Security Centre in Ferizaj, where
he was subjected to interrogation on his
political activity and the Kosova Liberation
Army.
In the vicinity of the post-office, police arrested
Ridvan Berisha (15) from Greme, and took
him to the Security Centre. His uncle Ahmet Berisha
(1971), who had been in the post-
office when Ridvan was arrested, went to the
Security Centre to find out the whereabouts
of Ridvan. Both of them were subjected to physical
ill-treatment.
VUSHTRRI: A police squad was situated at
the "Vicianum" motel in the way Prishtina-
Mitrovica. They have been stoppping and checking
all cars. Police put the automatic
barrell in the mouth of a youngster.
In the way to Pasoma, three armed and masked
Serbian civilians from Sllatina stopped
and threatened the pupils Zekri, Niazi and Hazir
Jonuzi.
A few days before, Serbian villagers ill-treated
their Albanian village-fellows.
KLINA: Four armed Serbian youngsters of
Karaelic and Slavkovic families put
barricades in the way between villages Budisalc
and Krushevë e Madhe in order to stop
and check the identities of passers-by during
the "curfew". They stopped Eduard Veselaj
from Budisalc, who was travelling in his car.
Such premilitary patrols and "curfews" have
become usual in the villages of Dugajeva, Jagoda,
etc.
4 FEBRUARY:
DEÇAN: Today, Naser B. Ahmetxhekaj
(18) from Isniq and Sali Shoshi (23) from
Dujaka near Gjakova were released today. Other
8 arrested people are in pre-trial
detention of 30 days. Meanwhile, police authorities
have been searching for Amir Z.
Januzaj from Isniq.
PRISHTINA: Some policemen, in the vicinity
of the old post-office, stopped and
physically ill-treated students Visar Vesel Veselaj
(1978), Frashër Demaj and Driton
Sadriaj - from Radavc near Peja, and Blerim Haxhi
Beqiraj (1974) from Staradran near
Istog, a student and teacher at "Nazim Gafurri"
Primary School in Prishtina, as well as
brothers Shkëlzen and Kujtim Sadrijaj from
Vrella near Istog. Police looted DM 50 from
them. Brothers Sadriaj and Veselaj were subjected
to severe physical ill-treatment in
Banja near Peja on 2 February. Police had looted
DM 100 from them.
In downtown Prishtina, some policemen arrested
Berat Luzha (1953) from Begraca
near Kaçanik, a journalist, a former political
prisoner - chairman of the Political Prisoners's
Association, vice-chairman of Trade Union of
Kosova and member of the LDK. On having
interrogating him, police duly released him.
MITROVICA: A bus and some vehicles with
policemen and soldiers in uniforms, lead
by a car wih two traffic policemen, paraded through
Zveçan and went towards the military
barracks in Mitrovica.
GLLOGOC: Large police forces, who brought
sacks of sand and put them in front of
the police station, were situated at the crossroad
of Komoran. In Klina e Epërme near
Skënderaj, police stopped, checked the identity
of and physically ill-treated Safet B.
Berisha (1979) from Gllanasella near Gllogoc.
PODUJEVA: Three vehicles of officers and
a bus of Serbian soldiers paraded through
downtown Podujeva and left towards Përpellac
in border with Serbia. In the evening, the
very same column returned to the direction of
Prishtina.
SUHAREKA: Serbian military authorities
delivered drafting summons to Albanian
youngsters.
FERIZAJ: Vehbi Raci from Mirash was summoned
for "informative talks" at the
Security Centre in Ferizaj.
Two plainclothed policemen searched for brothers
Isuf (40) and Ibush Thaçi (30), who are
currently living abroad, and ordered their mother
Mevlide to tell her sons to report to the
police station.
KLINA: In the outskirts of the village
of Gremnik, about 15 policemen stopped Bajram
Hasan Abazaj (1962), a worker at "Shpresa" tea
shop, his brother Asllan Hasan Abazaj
(1977) and their relatives Hilmi Q. Abazaj (1965),
Nezir Abazaj and Shaqir Doçi, all from
Gllareva. They checked their identities, checked
their car, physically ill-treated them until
they fainted and ordered them to "leave that
place as soon as possible".
5 FEBRUARY:
GLLOGOC: About 20 policemen, accompanied
by an armoured car and other
vehicles, put barricades of sacks of sand and
went into the houses of Ruzhdi Aliu and
Shaqir Ajazi, as well as the building of "Viadukt"
Enterprise.
A group of policemen was situated at the police
station in Gllogoc.
Policemen of Komoran stopped, checked the identity
of and ill-treated Jeton Bujupi (1973)
from Komoran and threatened him with the killing
of all Albanians.
Police severely ill-treated Adem Bytyçi
(1979) from Komoran and Enver H. Morina (1973)
from Arllat, pupils of the High School "Gjergj
Kastrioti Skënderbeu", Bislim Thaçi (1980),
Bekim Gashi (1980) and Agim Gashi (1980) - the
three from Llapushnik, pupils of "Leonik
Tomeu" Technical School in Gllogoc. Enver was
severely ill-treated until he fainted.
MITROVICA: A lorry and an armoured car
of policemen paraded in the direction of
Skënderaj and were situated in the main
road leading to Prekaz i Epërm. They have been
stopping the cars and checking the identities
of all passers-by.
Two policemen went to the house of Idriz Isak
Idrizi (30) and left him the order to report to
the police station.
GJILAN: Mevludin Shabani (1962), an engineer,
an LDK activist, "R. Popovic" st., was
taken for "informative talks" on the elections
within LDK and forthcoming parlamentarian
and presidential elections.
Skënder Kurti (1967) from Bresalc, a technician,
an LDK activist, was interrogated at the
Security Centre in Gjilan. Inspector Sinisha
Pavic and other inspectors interrogated him on
the activity of the LDK in Bresalc since 1992
until today, as well as the elections within the
LDK.
MALISHEVA: Large police forces were situated
at the crossroad of Kijeva in the way
Peja-Prishtina. They have been stopping, checking
the identities of and severely ill-treating
the passers-by threatening with the killing of
all Albanians. Among the ill-treated ones
were: Fatos Maloku (suffered injuries on his
head); brothers Xhavit and Petrit Gashi from
Pllaçica, who were on their way to work;
Habib Gashi, a teacher at "Mustafë Bakia"
Primary School in Carralluka, who was ordered
to report to the police station in Klina and
whose ID was taken; Bedri Rexhep Kryeziu (24)
from Bubavec.
In Malisheva, police physically ill-treated Osman
Thaçi from Mirusha and Mevledin Berisha
from Gurbardh.
Large police forces went to towards Klina.
FERIZAJ: Three vehicles of military superiors
paraded through Bibaj in the way
Ferizaj-Gjilan.
LIPJAN: The police squad situated in Komoran
near Gllogoc severely ill-treated
Rrahim Isuf Shala (1976) from Shala near Lipjan,
unemployed, under the pretext of not
speaking Serbian.
KLINA: In Kijeva, in the way Peja-Prishtina,
about 20 policemen stopped and ill-
treated Alush Hysen Hoti (1956), an economist
from Jashanica; Avdullah Imeri from
Shtupel near Klina; Nezir, Asllan, Bajram and
Elmi Abazaj from Gllareva; Shaqir Doçi,
vice-chairman of the LDK sub-branch in Shtupel;
Agim Sheremet Gashi from Cerovik.
Alush went unconscious and policemen stopped
beating him fearing that he might die.
Due to the injuries suffered, Alush had to seek
medical help.
Many other citizens were stopped: Gjon Lekaj,
a physician; Marte, Merlinda and Labinot
Lekaj; Rrahman Bashota; Lekë, Agim and Mihill
Prenaj, all from Cerovik.
Police beat the following citizens without any
reason: Murtez and Driton Havolli from
Resnik near Klina; Sabit Osmani from Izbica and
Islam Morina from Drenoc near
Malisheva.
Ramë Manaj, member of the Board of
the LDK branch in Klina, was taken for
"informative talks" on the activity of the LDK,
its cooperation with other political parties,
elections, the Board of the LDK, options for
the solution of Kosova issue, etc.
ISTOG: For more than three hours, police
stopped, checked the identities of and
threatened the youngsters: Fatmir Ukshin Hajraj
(1973) and Binak Musë Avdiaj (1976)
from Dubrava and Brahim Haxhi Ademaj (1978) from
Jabllanica, accusing them as
"guardians of KLA".
6 FEBRUARY:
GLLOGOC: At the crossroad of Komoran, police
stopped, checked the identities of,
checked the cars and passers-by and severely
ill-treated Behram Bytyçi (1965) and Agim
Bytyçi (1960), Agim (1960) and Behram
Rr. Kastrati (1965) from Komoran.
In the promenade of Gllogoc, a police squad stopped,
checked the identities of and
provoked many Albanian youngsters, among whom
were Shemsi Gani Binaku (1977) and
Mentor Xhemë Binaku (1977) - from Gllabar.
About 40 policemen stopped and surrounded Aqif
Shehu, chairman of LDK branch in
Gjakova, and his associate Fatos Shasivari. For
more than 30 minutes, police insulted
them and the whole Albanian nation.
GJAKOVA: In the villages by the border
with Albania, Serbian police and army have
been maneouvreing and checking the passers-by.
Police delivered summons to many
citizens of Gjakova to report to the police station.
One of them was Isa Islami, an LDK
activist. the pretext is unknown.
MALISHEVA: At the police station in Kijeva,
police severely ill-treated Milaim A.
Kryeziu (20), Selim H. Kryeziu (32), Habib J.
Kryeziu (38) and Zenel Kryeziu - from
Bubavec.
KLINA: Policemen situated in Kijeva stopped
and subjected Agim Sh. Gashi (1977)
from Cerovik to routine checking. They checked
his identity and beat him until he fainted.
MITROVICA: In the vicinity of police school
in Vushtrri, a policeman stopped Agim
Ejup Spahiu (27), "Ura e Gjakut" quarter, who
was on his way to Mitrovica with his wife
and his sister-in-law. The policeman checked
his identity and punched him without any
reason. Agim was taken to the gas station where
the police squad was situated, his
personal data were taken and he was fined with
150 dinars.
Kamer Shasivar Behrami (41) was summoned for
weapons to the police station under the
pretext that he had fired bullets in a wedding
party.
In the vicinity of the market and bus station,
police have been ill-treating passers-by.
7 FEBRUARY:
PRISHTINA: In Komoran near Gllogoc, a policeman
stopped, insulted and
psychologically ill-treated dr. Rexhep Boja (1946),
chairman of the Islamic Association of
Kosova and Principal of "Alaudin" Medressah in
Prishtina, Naim Tërnava and Elez
Osmani, editor-in-chief of "Dituria Islame" magazine.
VUSHTRRI: In the vicinity of trade centre
in Vushtrri, Dushko Janic, commander-in-
chief in Vushtrri, stopped and provoked Sabit
Kadriu, chairman of the sub-CDHRF in
Vushtrri, for the for the information given on
the ill-treatment of Naim Zeqiri, an asylum-
seeker repatriated from Germany, who had been
subjected to physical ill-treatment at the
Sllatina airport, arrested and taken to the police
station in Prishtina.
DEÇAN: Recently, large police forces
were situated in Junik, Irzniq and Deçan,
whereas every evening a group of policemen parades
through town and stop, check the
identities of and ill-treat every passer-by.
GLLOGOC: Police in Komoran stopped, checked
the identity of and provoked Ukë
Krasniqi (1964) from Komoran, an engineer. They
also threatened him for possessing the
ID with latin letters and not cyrillic ones.
KLINA: According to some information, Serbs
of the village of Dugajeva had taken an
order from the Ministry of Interior Affairs signed
by Jagosh Gjuricic, to mobilize and self-
organize in order to "protect their interests
in this region" for what they will "enjoy the
support of Serbian state". Milan C. Tomic, a
Serb, from the very same village had stated
that his family would not participate in "guardianship,
as they did not do any harm to
anyone".
MITROVICA: Kamer Shashivar Behrami (41)
and Hashim T. Behrami (32) were
summoned for weapons and were kept in detention.
8 FEBRUARY:
PRISHTINA: Ruzhdi D. Alia (1944) from Komoran
near Gllogoc, stated that from 4
February 1998 onwards Serbian police have occupied
the first floor of his new house
which is only 1m from the house he lives in.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
KAMENICA: On 16 and 19 January, Ruhan Guda from
the village of Karaçeva was
summoned for weapons.
Hasan Bërnjashi (1952) from the village
of Karaçeva, who has been sentenced to 2 year's
imprisonment for weapons, was taken to serve
his sentence to the prison of Smrekovnica
on 19 January.
PODUJEVA: On 20 January, the police searched
Milaim Abdullahu from the village of
Bërvenik, at his home in Orllan.
On 22 January, in the vicinity of the primary
school in the village of Batllava, the police
checked every car passing by.
On 23 January, in the center of the town, the
police looted money from several Albanians,
such as the case of Fehmi Islami from the village
of Gllamnik, from whom they plundered
5000 dinars.
Hysen Mustafa (25) was stopped by the police
and his ID was taken. He was ordered to
report to the police the following day.
On 26 January, Sherif Shabani, a teacher from
Metohia village, was summoned for
"informative talks" and left an order to report
again to the local police station of Kërpimeh,
with his colleague Milazim Kadriu, a teacher.
While chasing vendors, the police shot by fire-arms
towards one of them, and raided
several flats.
The police interfered in the tea shop "Afërdita",
inspected every guest there and took along
two of vendors.
On 29 January, Fehmi Hajrizi (1976) from Katalica
village, repatriated from Germany, was
summoned to report to the police.
GLLOGOC: On 24 January, in the outskirts of Malisheva,
a group of policemen stopped
Gani Morina (1955) from Arllat village, a teacher
at the Gymnasium "Gjergj Kastrioti
Skënderbeu" in Gllogoc. Accused for being
"terrorist", he was severely ill-treated suffered
injuries.
PEJA: On 25 January, in the promenade of the
town, Fatos G. Meshi (1975) from the
village of Banja e Pejës, was stopped by
three Serbs, insulted on a national basis, and the
windscreen of his car got broken when he tried
to escape. Fatos was subjected to physical
injuries and sought for medical care to the hospital
of Peja.
On 25 and 28 January, the police searched for
Agim Brahim Gashi (1971) from the village
of Qyshk.
On 31 January, in the village of Drenoc near
Klina, a group of armed Serbian civilians,
introducing themselves as guards of the village,
stopped the car and demanded money
from Zymber B. Shabanaj (1957) and Hasim D. Muriqi
(70) from Peja, and Adem E.
Nurkoviqi (45) from the village of Bërzhenik
near Peja. As they did not have any money on
them, the Serbs severely ill-treated them and
broke the windscreen of his car. They had to
seek for medical care and reported their case
to the local police station in Peja, but the
police did not undertake anything whatsoever.
KLINA: On 25 January, several uniformed Serbian
youngsters set up the barricade in the
village of Dugajeva, stopped and provoked Salih
D. Krasniqi from the village of Rosuja,
who was returning home with his family. They
also stopped Albert Z. Gjonaj, Gjon M.
Martini and some other villagers. At the same
place, Rashit Bytyçi was provoked, but he
did not stop.
On 27 January, in downtown Klina, Iber Elezaj
(1965) from the village of Gjurgjeviku i
Vogël, a teacher at the Secondary School
"Luigj Gurakuqi" in Klina, was stopped, ill-
treated, arrested and sent to the police station.
After two hours, he was released.
On 29 January, near-by the railway station in
the village of Jagoda, a group of pre-military
armed Serbs in police and military uniforms stopped
and checked the identities of Pashk
Berisha (1959) from the village of Jagoda, and
Tomë Milicaj (1958) from the village of
Zllakuqan, a field worker of sub-CDRHF in Klina.
Their cars were checked and they were
threatened not to travel during the "curfew"
from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Pashk recognized his
neighbour Nenad Izgareviq among the gang.
Recently, mobilization and organization
of pre-military Serbs was done not only in the
village of Jagoda but also in other villages
around Klina dwelled by Serbs, as in Dugajeva,
Potërç, Drenoc, Budisalc, Videja,
Dollc, Dërsnik etc. Those gangs have been stopping,
checking the identities of, controlling, checking
and physically ill-treating the Albanian
citizens.
Therefore, on 30 January, some Serbs in military
uniforms, in the village of Dugajeva,
stopped and provoked Ndue Berisha and his sons
Palush and Dedë Berisha.
ISTOG: On 29 January, in the way Grabanica-Krusheva
of Klina, several armed Serbs ill-
treated the couple Feriz B. Qetaj (1946) and
Fatmushe Qetaj and their two children from
Tribuhoci village, the district of Istog, for
almost an hour. The police was stationed in the
village of Studenica during the Bajram Pray.
On 30 January, a military convoy with 4 tracks
full of soldiers and 3 police vehicles coming
from Skënderaj, had training in the village
of Uça, in the Muzliaj quarter, mainly around the
house of Rrustem Muzliaj and towards the village

On 31 January, in the village of Banja, the police
physically ill-treated Ramë Xhemaj,
owner of Turistic Agency "Shpati" - on the pretext
that he did not salute the police.
SKëNDERAJ: On 30 January, in the cross-road
of Klina e Epërme, the police brutally ill-
treated Qemajl Jashari from the village of Prekaz
i Poshtëm, who suffered hard physical
injuries on his head and stomach and sought for
medical care. His companion Halit Çitaku
from the village of Çitak was also physically
ill-treated.
On 31 January, at the same place, the police
brutally ill-treated the pupils Adnan and Hysni
Hajdari and Arben Bislimi.
LIPJAN: On 30 January, the police inspector Vasiq,
former commander-in-chief at the
police station in Janjeva, attempted to kill
Azem Berisha from Janjeva, in front of his house
while he was greeting his guests.
MITROVICA: On 30 January, in the vicinity of
the village Vidmiriq, two Serbian civilians,
one of them in police uniform, stopped and threatened
Blerim Halim Rushiti (25) from
Vidmiriq.
FERIZAJ: On 30 January, in Suhareka the police
stopped Bajram Bibaj from Balaj village,
his sister Fatime Kicaj and her son Azem. His
car was checked in search for weapons. As
they failed to find any weapons, they hand-cuffed
Bajram, sent him to the police and
threatened him with the liquidation. Afterwards,
he was released with an order to hand in
his weapon.
On 31 January, Sadik Luboteni was arrested by
two policemen without any pretext.
ZHUR: On 30 January, in the place called Qafa
e Zhurit, towards the village of Shkoza,
two policemen stopped, provoked on a national
basis and threatened Kapllan Elezkurtaj, a
clerk, from the village of Zhur.
VUSHTRRI: On 31 January, in Sllatina village,
several armed and masked Serbian
civilians, among whom was Vllajko Gjorgjeviq
and his son Dushko Kostiq, stopped and ill-
treated several Albanian passers-by. Among them
were Muharrem Beqiri from Sllatina
village, and Adem Salihu.
PRISHTINA: On 31 January, Musa Hajrizi (1975),
a student from the village of Strofc near
Vushtrri, was stopped by 4 policemen on the pretext
of being a street vendor. He was
taken to the police station, where he was brutally
beaten up and looted DM.210. Under the
same pretext, Bedri Muhaxhiri was physically
ill-treated.
SUHAREKA: On 31 January, large police forces
stationed in the way Suhareka-Prizren, in
the outskirts of the village Malsia e Re, checked
every car and passer-by and physically ill-
treated them.
SHTIME: During January, Kapllan Sami Ademaj (1956),
a teacher at "Skënderbeu"
Primary School in the village of Raçak,
and Muhamet Hoxha (1957), a teacher at "Emin
Duraku" Primary School in Shtime were taken for
"informative talks" on political activities
and forthcoming elections.
Sylë Gashi (1940), a worker, was summoned
for weapons to the police.
Kadri Sherif Hysenaj from the village of Petrova,
was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment
for being in possession of weapons without permit.
The police looted money from the following persons:
DM. 185 and SFrs. 10 from Idriz
Gashi (1965), a photographer from Godanci i Ulët
village; DM 95 and SFr 10 from Jeton
Mulliqi (1970), unemployed; DM 540, SFrs. 10
and 1600 dinars from Sabri Gashi (1967), a
worker; DM 80 and 440 dinars from Fadil Kadriu
(1967), a salesman; DM 370 from
Shaban Salihaj; DM 50 from Bahtir Korpuzi (1960)
from the village of Sedllar, a teacher;
DM 130 from Prenk ?, a salesman from Vitia; DM
200 from Remzi Mehmeti, a worker in
Sllovenia; DM 100 from Xhevdet Tafa, a worker
in Sllovenia.
The following persons were stopped and threatened
by the Serbian police: Sabri Veliu
(1963) from the village of Topilla; Rexhep Sokol
Kamberi (53) from the village of Raçak; Ali
Uka (1957) from the village of Godanc, a teacher
of "Naim Frashëri" Secondary School in
Shtime;
Arife Ramusa-Veliu (1934) from the village of
Jezerc, his daughter Mexhide Veliu and the
driver Brahim Lubovci, were stopped and controlled
in the village of Puturovc while
returning from the airport of Prishtina.
MALISHEVA: On 29 January, in Subotica, Ahmet
and Iljaz Kastrati from Turjaka village,
who was travelling to Germany, were stopped by
the police and ill-treated, their passports
were seized and returned back to Kosova.
At the same day, in Malisheva, Ruzhdi Sefaj from
the village of Senik was ill-treated by the
police.
