THE SERBIAN POLICE AND OTHER AUTHORITIES IN KOSOVA
AS OF FEBRUARY 8 UNTIL 15 FEBRUARY, 1998
On 13 February, at about 7.00 a.m., in the
vicinity of "Shote Galica" Primary School in
the village of Abri e Epërme, the district
of Gllogovc, Mustafë Rexhë Kurti (27), a postman
in the Serbian post office, was killed under
yet unknown circumstances. Large police
forces immediately went on the spot.
Naser Xhemajlaj (1977) from the village of Abri,
owner of the bus on the relation Abri-
Gllogoc, and Avdyl Vrellaku (1945) from Baica
village, were taken to the police station, and
kept for 2 hours for "informative talks". They
were released on condition to report again to
the police.
On 14 February, at about 4.30 p.m., more
than 10 policemen interfered at the local
transmition station of GE Kosova in Çikatova
village near Gllogoc, took the official revolver
from Nezir Hasan Selmanaj (47) from Kozhica near
Skënderaj, a guardian. Policemen
tied, provoked and accused him and Avdullah Behram
Nika (1952) from Gllanasella near
Gllogoc, an electrician, that "they were helping
KLA". After a short while, at about 5.20
p.m., a policeman accompanied Avdullah on his
way out. In the meantime, shots were
heard and Avdullah was gun down. The policemen
told Nezir that "his friend had
escaped". As Nezir disagreed, policemen started
to hit him with rifle butts until he fainted.
Nezir was kept until 10 a.m. of the following
day (15.02.1998), when policemen put a
blanket on his head, forced him into the car
and sent him to the bus station in Prishtina at
2.00 p.m. Meanwhile, on 15 February, at about
10.30 a.m., a plainclothed policeman
ordered Hasan Ahmeti, a guardian, to follow him
and help him carry the body of the late
Avdullah to the ambulance car. According to the
statement of the late's family, he was
provoked by policemen called Rajko several days
before.
8 FEBRUARY:
ISTOG: Six masked persons, speaking Serbian,
violently entered the home of Sabri
A. Belegu (63), attacked him and his wife Hyle
(56) with an axe and severely wounded
them and looted 4000 DM. Due to the injuries
suffered, the couple Belegu had to seek
medical care at the hospital of Peja.
MALISHEVA: In Kijeva, wedding guests were
stopped. Isak A. Kafexholli from
Bellanica and Naim Hoti from Caralluka were subjected
to physical ill-treatment.
KLINA: At the cross-road Kijeva-Cerovik,
police stopped Latif Imer Uka from Cerovik
and physically ill-treated him without any given
pretext.
PODUJEVA: Nexhmi Qerim Hoxha, Faik Hoxha
and Ismet Behram Hyseni were
stopped and severely ill-treated at the police
station in the outskirts of Zveçan near
Mitrovica.
9 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: In the vicinity of "Mokra Gora"
Enterprise, police stopped the car in
which were Xhafer Sefer Murtezaj (50), chairman
of the District Educational Council and a
member of the Board of the LDK branch in Skënderaj,
Vehbi Zukë Xani (50), a pedagogue
in Skënderaj, and brothers Osman (40) and
Bedri Xukë Xani (30) from the village of Polac
near Skënderaj. Having checked their IDs,
police ordered them to follow police allegedly
for a technical control of car, and after one
hour they were duly released.
At the place called Ura e Gurit in Vushtrri,
four policemen stopped Shpend Hajriz
Istrefi (24) from "Ibri" quarter, who was travelling
with his mother Sabile (43), his sisters
Shqipe (21) and Besa (8), his niece Denisa (3)
and Rizah Osman Mustafa (23). As they
were kept about an hour, police demanded 200
dinars from them, otherwise they would be
detained. Shqipe and Besa suffered traumas. Police
let them go after Shpend gave them
50 dinars.
GLLOGOC: Police stationed in Komoran stopped
and psychologically ill-treated Gani
Krasniqi, a principal of "Leonik Tomeu" Technical
School in Gllogoc, on the pretext that he
did not respect the police.
They also stopped, checked the identity of and
ill-treated Gëzim Din Bujupi (1979), a pupil
from Arllat, on the pretext that he did not speak
Serbian.
Milot F. Bogiqi (1980) was subjected to physical
ill-treatment.
SKëNDERAJ: Some policemen attempted
to arrest Bashkim Rifat Jashari (20) and
Besim Hamzë Jashari (16) from Prekaz i Poshtëm
and shot towards them.
SUHAREKA: In the way Suhareka-Duhla, at
the place called "Biraq", from 7 p.m. until
midnight, 7-8 policemen stopped and checked every
vehicle passing-by. Such checkings
have been perpetrated every evening.
Feriz Hysen Selimaj was taken for "informative
talks" and was subjected to psychological
ill-treatment.
ISTOG: Police stopped and psychologically
ill-treated Ramë Xhemaj, owner of
"Shpati-tours" Travel Agency, threatening him
for transporting teachers and political
activists free of charge.
Qerim R. Rexhaj from Cërca was stopped and
ill-treated at the police station of Kijeva
near Malisheva.
GJILAN: Faik Sopi (1964), an electrician,
"Sava Kovacevic" st.109, was stopped and
physically ill-treated at the police station
of Kijeva near Malisheva. Police stated that "such
situation will be prevailing in Gjilan very soon".
KLINA: At the cross-road Dollc-Gremnik,
police stopped and physically ill-treated
Faton Godanci, Zenel Gllasoviku and Sali Kalludra,
pupils of "Zgjimi" Primary School in
Dollc.
Police stopped another group of pupils and their
teachers Mustafë Zenunaj, Vjollcë
Zenunaj, Hajrije Maxharraj and Tahir Abazaj.
FERIZAJ: Vehbi Raçi from Mirash,
an LDK activist, was summoned for "informative
talks" at the Security Centre in Ferizaj. He
was subjected to interrogation on his activity
within the LDK, National Movement of Kosova,
KLA, etc.
PODUJEVA: From 8 p.m. until 11 p.m., police
stopped and checked the identities of
all passers-by at the place called "Qershiat
e Llapashticës" in the vicinity of Podujeva.
Police intervened in the shop of Elhami Imeri.
Some policemen intervened in "Babia" cafe and
checked the identities of those present.
An armoured car of policemen was stationed in
Kërpimeh and they have been stopping
and checking the identities of passers-by.
10 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: Police, who have been stationed
near-by the bus station and the
market, have been stopping, checking the identities
of and physically ill-treating Albanian
citizens.
Two policemen raided the house of Hazir Maliq
Beqiri (55), "Ura e Gjakut" quarter, under
the pretext of searching cigarettes.
PEJA: Musa Rrahmani (45) from Kosuriq,
an LDK activist, was summoned for
"informative talks" at the Security Centre in
Peja. He was subjected to interrogation on his
political activity, presidential elections, KLA,
etc.
Ukë R. Kelmendi (50) from Qyshk, a secretary
of the Board of the LDK branch in Peja,
was summoned for "informative talks" at the Security
Centre in Peja and was ordered to
report again on 17 February.
Ramiz Z. Zekaj, "Kapeshnica" quarter, chairman
of District Financial Council and member
of the Board of the LDK branch in Peja, was summoned
for "informative talks" at the
Security Centre. He was subjected to interrogation
on the activity of DFC, LDK and the
elections.
GLLOGOC: Police in Komoran stopped and
physically ill-treated: Rrustem Ismet
Ibrahimi (1981), a pupil from Zabel i Poshtëm;
Shpejtim Qazim Zogaj (1968) from
Komoran, worker of "Hajdini-Komerc" Enterprise;
Sami Gani Mehmeti (1970) from
Godanc, a teacher at "Leonik Tomeu" Technical
School in Gllogoc; pupils Basri A. Krasniqi
(1980) and Lulzim B. Krasniqi (1980) from Negroc.
Random shots were heard towards Florim Rr. Mehmeti
(1975) from Poklek i Ri, who was
on his way home.
OBILIQ: Brothers Muharrem and Sylejman
Thaçi from Sibovc were summoned for
weapons at the police station in Obiliq.
KLINA: Two policemen stopped and physically
ill-treated Ajet Xhemajl Dakaj (1966)
from Cerovik, a teacher of "Azem Bejta" Primary
School in Grabanica.
At the cross-road Dollc-Gremnik, police stopped
"Benita" bus, checked the identities of the
passengers and physically ill-treated Mentor
Bajraktari (14), a pupil of "Zgjimi" Primary
School in Dollc, under the pretext that he did
not have his ID, even though the children of
his age are not eligible for IDs.
The following persons were stopped and physically
ill-treated at the police station of Kijeva
near Malisheva: Maliq S. Dakaj (1955), a jurist;
Zef S. Prenaj (1952), a teacher of "Esad
Mekuli" Primary School in Cerovik; Mëhill
P. Prenaj (1956), a teacher of the primary school
in Kijeva; Alush H. Bashota (1957), a teacher
of the primary school in Llozica; Kadri F.
Dakaj (1981), a pupil of the secondary school
in Ujmir; Hajrije Sh. Gashi, a student; Nife
Mehmetaj with her daughter; Safet A. Asllanaj;
Sali B. Mehmetaj; Driton and Bekim
Asllanaj, pupils of the primary school in Kijeva;
Shefqet S. Ramaj and Adem S. Dakaj - all
from Cerovik; Hamdi S. Gashi (1970) from Sferka
and Nikë Mark Gashi (1956) from çabiq,
a teacher of "Luigj Gurakuqi" Secondary School
in Klina. Police looted DM 100 from Maliq,
DM 40 from Zef, DM 20 from Hajrije and DM 30
and 70 dinars from Kadri.
MALISHEVA: Police in Kijeva stopped the
car driven by Gani Makolli, a teacher of
"Adem Bajri" Primary School in Kijeva. Gani was
accompanied by his colleagues Bedri
Toplana and Fehmije Neziri. Police checked their
identities and demanded 150 dinars
from them. As they did not have that money, Gani
was subjected to provocation and
physical ill-treatment.
SKëNDERAJ: Bedri Isuf Deliu from Rezalla
was taken out of the bus in Komoran near
Gllogoc, where he was subjected to physical ill-treatment.
Due to the injuries suffered, he
had to seek medical help.
FERIZAJ: Two policemen took Sadri Sh. Ahmeti
from Tankosiq to the Serbian Run
District Court in Ferizaj, where he was sentenced
with a prison term of 30 days for being in
possession of a weapon without permit.
PRISHTINA: Ismet Beqiri, secretary of the
LDK sub-branch in "Kodra e Trimave"
quarter, was summoned to the Security Centre,
where inspectors interrogated him on the
organization of this sub-branch, forthcoming
elections within the LDK, presidential
elections, options for the solution of Kosova
issue, etc.
Three Serbian civilians, introducing themselves
as security inspectors, stopped Emin
Gërbeshi, chairman of the LDK sub-branch
in "Malësia e Gollapit", and threatened him.
LIPJAN: In Qylaga, a Serbian civilian threatened
Qemajl Bahtiri from Dobraja e Madhe
and two other Albanian youngsters with the gun,
as they refused to tell him the address of
an Albanian family.
PRIZREN: Petrit Misin Shala (1976) from
Pirana, who has been living in Germany for
14 years, disappeared.
GJAKOVA: A police squad searched for Astrit
Haraçiu, chairman of the LDK Youth
Forum. In his absence, his father Ismail Haraçiu
and his brother Albert Haraçiu were taken
hostage instead.
GJILAN: Ramiz Murseli (1952), a teacher
of the primary school in Velekinca, living in
Llastica, was summoned for "informative talks"
on the activity of the LDK sub-branch, the
preparations for the forthcoming presidential
elections, KLA, etc. In the end, inspectors
threatened him with the imprisonment for the
participation in students' protests in Gjilan.
11 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: An armoured car and 3 police
vehicles paraded through the town and
went towards Skënderaj.
Last night, after midnight, about 15 policemen
stationed at "Mokra Gora" Enterprise,
stopped the car in which were brothers Afrim
(30) and Arben Emin Jashari (22), Armend
Zija Muja (19) and a youngster called Jeton.
Their identities were checked, they were
arrested and kept at the police station until
today at 7 a.m. Then, police took brothers
Jashari to their house, raided it and took 370
packs of cigarettes and 2200 dinars. Police
also raided the house of Armend, but they failed
to find anything.
Market inspectors lead by Lila Kokeric looted
money from the following private enterprises
owned by Albanians: "Bahçe", owned by
Sead Riza Gashi (40) - 1100 dinars; "Beni",
owned by Hashim Krasniqi - 800 dinars; "Luli",
owned by Lulzim Perjuci (27) - 300 dinars;
"AS", owned by Naim Perjuci (36) - 300 dinars.
VUSHTRRI: Two Serbian policemen searched
for weapons at the house of Rasim
Islami in Stanoc i Epërm, who is currently
living in Germany. In his absence, police ill-
treated his wife in the presence of her infant
children, under the pretext that her husband
had left a revolver at home. They demolished
the furniture and as they failed to find any
weapon, police threatened to come again.
In Komoran near gllogoc, police stopped Esat
Shala (1971) from Stanoc i Epërm. Under
the pretext that the windscreen of his car was
dyed, police ordered him to pay 150 dinars.
When Esat told them that the car's windscreen
was dyed when produced, the police ill-
treated him physically, until he fainted.
DEÇAN: Aziz Dervishaj (1962) from
Gllogjan was taken for "informative talks" at the
police station in Deçan, where security
inspectors interrogated him on the KLA.
In Kijeva near Malisheva, police stopped the
bus coming from Peja and severely ill-treated
Zymer and Ramadan Ukaj (70) from Lumbardh without
any given reason.
LIPJAN: A group of 5-6 Serbian pupils with
knives attacked Driton Jaha, Herolind
Krasniqi and Liridon Sefedini, pupils of the
primary school in Lipjan. They were rescued by
an Albanian teacher who just happened to be present
in the spot.
GJILAN: A group of Serbian youngsters attacked
Valmir Haziri (1988), "Abdullah
Presheva" st.474, took his schoolbag and ran
away.
Albanian youngsters Qahil Halil Halili (1970)
from Zhegra, Xhemajl Jakup Zeqiri, Naser Ali
Musliu, etc. received drafting summons, even
though they had served the army.
SKëNDERAJ: In Klina e Poshtme, police
stopped, insulted and physically ill-treated
pupils Muhamet Nebih Ferizi from Tërrnavc
and Isa Abit Avdiu from Mikushnica.
FERIZAJ: Two policemen searched for brothers
Isuf (40) and Ibush (36) Thaçi, who
have left their house long time ago, and ordered
their sister Qefsere to tell them to report
to the police station.
PODUJEVA: A military helicopter landed
at the "Batllava" school airport in Dumosh
and overviewed the surrounding.
About 50 Serbian soldiers stayed at "Batllava"
Water Supply in Shajkoc for an hour.
Large police forces, stationed at the cross-road
Batllava-Dumosh-Gërdoc, stopped and
checked the identities of the passers-by.
MALISHEVA: At the place called "Rrasa",
large armed police forces have been
checking the identities of the passers-by. Today,
they stopped and checked the identities
of the activists of Reconciliation Council: Cen
Desku, a member of the Board of the LDK
branch in Malisheva; Mullas Xhevat Kryeziu from
Bubavec; Isuf Bytyçi, chairman of the
Information Commission of the LDK branch in Malisheva;
Muharrem and Bislim Bytyçi
from Shkoza.
ISTOG: Sokol N. Berisha (44), an LDK activist,
and Muharrem Turkaj (41), both from
Kashica, were taken for "informative talks" at
the Security Centre in Peja. They were
interrogated on the activity of the LDK, presidential
elections, KLA, etc.
Besim Podrimaj from Gjurakoc was subjected to
interrogation at the Security Centres in
Istog and Peja on the activity of the LDK and
KLA in Skënderaj, Klina and Istog, his stay
abroad, etc. He was released on the condition
to report again.
Skender I. Rexhaj from Cërca was subjected
to physical ill-treatment in Kijeva near
Malisheva.
PRIZREN: According to the information of
his family, Vedat Fahredin Veliu (19) from
Prizren, living in Belgrade, was killed with
a fire weapon in Belgrade by a Serbian
youngster. The motive still unknown.
12 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: Serbian soldiers, who had occupied
a neglected piece of land for their
manoeuvre, directed their ammunition towards
"Skënderbeu" Primary School.
The court session against Sevdije Shaqir Shyti-Azemi
(47) from Zhabar i Epërm, mother of
seven, was held for the third time in the Serbian
Run District Court in Mitrovica. She was
sentenced with 2 years imprisonment in 1989 and
after a year she was at large. The
session was postponed as Sevdije did not accept
the trial in Serbian. The next session is
to be held on 23 February.
In the outskirts of Leposavic, police stopped
the car in which were 5 Albanian
youngsters travelling to Germany. While checking
their identities, police noticed that three
of them were from Prekaz i Epërm and then
severely ill-treated them. One of the
youngsters was Demë Shabani's son from prekaz
i Epërm and the other one was Hamdi
Shemë Barani (20) from Klina e Epërme
near Skënderaj.
OBILIQ: Sylejman Gashi (60) and his son
Faik from Sibovc were summoned for
weapons and were subjected to physical ill-treatment
at the police station in Obiliq.
FUSHë-KOSOVA: Two policemen took Ferat
Simnica (1952) from Bellaqevc i Madh,
a bill-collector of the Financial Sub-Council,
to the police station. He was subjected to
physical ill-treatment and was ordered to report
again. Due to injuries suffered, Ferat had
to seek medical care.
PODUJEVA: Police stopped brothers Nazif
(1968), a farmer, and Florim Makolli
(1977), a student from Hertica, ordered them
to get off the tractor and immediately started
to ill-treat them physically. Both of them were
beaten up on the way to the police station in
Lluzhan, where they were kept until midnight.
Due to injuries suffered, they had to seek
medical help.
Police in Kërpimeh have the photo of Bajram
Rexhep Kastrati, a PPK activist, and stop
people asking them whether they know the person
in photo.
Some policemen left Musli Kadriu a summon to
report to the police station the next day.
Police searched for weapons at the houses of
Dalip and Faik Kadriu.
An unidentified person shot several bullets towards
the house-school of Murat Murati in
Podujeva.
GLLOGOC: Abdyl Xh. Thaçi (1960)
from Llapushnik, a worker of "Ferronikel" Factory
in Gllogoc, was subjected to physical ill-treatment
twice - first at the gas station "Vera" in
Malisheva and in Komoran.
The following persons were physically ill-treated
and insulted on a national basis in
Komoran: Driton H. Gashi (1973) from Llapushnik,
Istref Bujupi and Haxhi Bujupi.
In the vicinity of the bus station in Prishtina,
police stopped and ill-treated Fatmir Salih
Cakiqi (1967), an engineer from Komoran, and
looted DM 50 from him.
SKëNDERAJ: Two policemen took Fidan
Geci (1982), a pupil from Llausha, out of the
bus and physically ill-treated him. Due to injuries
suffered, he was compelled to seek
medical help. In the meantime, another 6 policemen
came and did not allow the
passengers to get out of the bus. Police threatened
Osman Thaçi, a driver, who attempted
to protect Fidan.
FERIZAJ: Isak Eshrefi (1945) was summoned
for weapons to the police station.
Two inspectors closed down the buffet of the
"Gjon Serreçi" Primary School. They
summoned Sabri Berisha, principal, and Agron
Ajeti, owner of the buffet, to the police
station.
SHTëRPCA: Liman Rexhepi, chairman
of the Youth Forum and member of the Board
of the LDK branch in Shtërpca, was taken
for "informative talks" on his political activity.
MALISHEVA: Police ill-treated Minir Hoti
in his workshop.
In Komoran, police ill-treated Jahir Mazreku
from Malisheva and Gëzim Gajraku from
Gajrak twice.
In Komoran and Kijeva, police have been ill-treating
youth and pupils.
13 FEBRUARY:
GLLOGOC: A military column went towards
Peja, whereas 12 tanks were transported
by train.
Large police forces paraded through downtown
Gllogoc and went towards Baica.
SKëNDERAJ: Large police forces have
been doing preparations for the building of a
police checkpoint in Klina e Epërme, at
the cross-road Skënderaj-Mitrovica-Peja.
PEJA: Avdi Kelmendi, "Hivzi Sylejmani"
st.24, member of the Board of the LDK
branch, was summoned to the Security Centre.
Inspectors interrogated him on the political
activity within the LDK, DFC, students' protests,
KLA, the speech held at the burial of
Adrian Krasniqi in Vranoc, etc.
VITIA: Recently, the following persons
were subjected to arrest and sent to serve the
prison terms for being in possession of weapons
without permit: Lirush Sylejmani,
Muhamet Osmani, Rrahim Azizi, Blerim Tahiri,
Adem Quni, Haki Ramadani - from Smira;
Shyqeri Jahiu, Rifat Rashiti - Drobesh.
Police searched for Ruhan Rrahmani, an asylum-seeker
repatriated from Germany.
GJAKOVA: During the last two days, Ymer
Jaha (67) from Babaj i Bokës was
summoned for weapons at the Security Centre in
Gjakova. He was subjected to physical
ill-treatment and is still under arrest, despite
of the fact that he is sick.
PRISHTINA: While returning from the meeting
of the chairmen of the LDK branches in
Prishtina, the following persons were stopped
by three policemen in Nedakoc near
Vushtrri: Idriz Islam Rrecaj (54) from Llausha
near Skënderaj, chairman of the LDK branch
in Skënderaj; Ramadan Bajram Kelmendi (45)
from Mitrovica, "Ibri" quarter, chairman of
the LDK branch in Mitrovica; Osman Ajvaz Rama
(56) from Mitrovica, "Qendra" quarter,
chairman of the LDK branch in Zubin-Potok seated
in çabër; Haki Bit Imeri (33) from
Mitrovica, "Ura e Gjakut" quarter, chairman of
the LDK branch in Leposavic seated in
Bistrica; Shaban Tahir Deliu (43), a driver from
çabra near Zubin-Potok. After half an hour,
they were allowed to continue their journey.
MITROVICA: Large police forces were stationed
in the vicinity of the market and
stopped and checked the identities of the passers-by
from 10 p.m. Policemen were
accompanied by women carrying bags of first aid.
In the outskirts of Vushtrri, 4 policemen
stopped the car in which were: Ramadan
Zeqir Jashari (60) and his wife Shakia (58) from
Prishtina, "Dragodan" quarter; Nazmi Isuf
Jashari (33), an LDK activist; Sylejman Ramadan
Jashari (25) - both from Mitrovica,
"Tavnik" quarter, who were travelling to Prishtina.
Finding out that all of them were from
Prekaz near Skënderaj, police ill-treated
them physically and looted DM 40 from Nazmi
threatening with liquidation if he reported his
case.
At the police checkpoint in Nedakoc, three policemen
stopped and checked the identities
of Ferdane Bislim Haxhimehmeti (25) and Fatmire
Halim Haxhimehmeti (33) - "Qendra"
quarter. The two were taken out of the car and
insulted in different ways.
FERIZAJ: Serbian soldiers in military tanks
left from the railway station in Ferizaj
towards an unknown direction.
PODUJEVA: Police raided the house of Sami
and Florim Osmani. When Sami
escaped, they shot towards him.
14 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: An armoured car came from Skënderaj
to Mitrovica early in the morning
and after half an hour two police vehicle left
towards Skënderaj.
SKëNDERAJ: About 50 villages inhabited
by Albanians in the district of Skënderaj
have run out of electricity for the last three
days. At the same time, villages inhabited by
Serbs in this district have electricity. GE Kosova
service has not given any explanation on
this.
15 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: Masked people in three "Landrover"
vehicles without plates went
towards Skënderaj.
A police checkpoint was situated at the cross-road
Skënderaj-Mitrovica-Peja. Policemen
have been monitoring the situation in village
and have been stopping cars passing-by.
PRISHTINA: Zahide Avdiu (1951) and her
son Fitim (1991) from Klina e Poshtme
near Skënderaj returned from Dusseldorf
yesterday. She lived there with her husband
Abaz, who left for Germany 5 years ago, as in
1989 he was in the Yugoslav prisons. At the
Prishtina airport in Sllatina, police prevent
them from repatriation on the pretext that their
documents were not in order. They are still kept
at the Belgrade airport from where they

Kelmendi that Zahide and Fitim have their documents
in order - issued by German
authorities in Dusseldorf.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
KLINA: On 25 January, after two blasts at
Gjuricic family in the village of Grabanica,
large police forces stayed during the whole day
in the village. They stopped and checked
the identities of every passer-by.
On 27 January, three policemen searched for Nikë
Tunë Frroku (1964) from the village of
Kosh near Istog, employed in the district of
Klina, and left him the summon to report for
weapons to the local police station of Gurrakoc.
The following day, his father Tuna (77)
reported to the police, but police told him that
Nika must report.
On 29 January, on the way Ferizaj-Kaçanik,
in the vicinity of "Europa" restaurant, Enver
Haxhi Maxharraj (1961), civil engineering technician
from the village of Gremnik, was
stopped and brutally ill-treated by three policemen.
On 2 February, in the properties of the
Sugar Plant in Peja, between villages
Krusheva e Madhe and Budisalc, four armed Serbian
youngsters Radosav Sllavkovic,
Gollub Sllavkovic, Dragolub Sllavkovic and Garo
Karavelic, - all from Budisalc, stopped
and threatened their Albanian fellow-villager
Eduard Veseli (1969), a mechanic.
On 5 February, at the police checkpoint at the
cross-road Dollc-Gremnik, over 15
policemen stopped the bus "Benita" travelling
on the relation Klina-Ujmir-Sferka. They
checked the identities of, provoked and physically
ill-treated Nazmi Halil Kalludra, the
owner of the bus, Cenë Millaku, the driver,
and Sazan Veselaj (1974) from the village of
Gllareva, the ticket-collector.
On 6 February, Ramë Sefer Manaj (1954),
"Drini i Bardhë" st.P/3, an unemployed jurist, a
member of the Board of the LDK branch in Klina,
was summoned for "informative talks" to
the Security Centre. He was also interrogated
on his activity within the LDK, their
cooperation with other political parties, their
attitudes towards the current situation and their
option for the solution of the Kosova issue.
On 6 February, over 20-30 armed policemen
stationed at the police checkpoint in
Kijeva near Malisheva, brutally ill-treated Bekim
Veselaj (1974) from Gllareva village and
Pajazit Hoti from Jashanica village, who were
travelling by bus to the village of Bubavec
near Malisheva.
The police also stopped the bus of "Monika" Tourist
Agency from Prishtina, checked the
identities of the passengers and took out Dalip
H. Morina (1974) from Gllareva, whom they
provoked and severely assaulted. While being
beaten, Dalip noticed Aziz Ramaj from
Cerovik village tied up at an electric pillar.
At the cross-road in the village of Cerovik,
three policemen stopped and physically ill-
treated Ramiz Beqir Millaku (1964), a merchant,
and Hamit Rexhë Millaku (1973),
unemployed from Ujmir. The two were threatened
with execution for allegedly being
members of the KLA and took 100 dinars from Hamit
and 260 dinars from Ramiz.
MALISHEVA: On 27 January, police searched
for Sahit Brahim Morina, a former
political prisoner, who has been living abroad
for two years. They left him an order to report
to the police station in Kijeva or Klina. On
31 January, police stopped Sahit's brother
Rexhep, interrogated him on the whereabouts of
Sahit and threatened him.
On 6 February, Ali Krasniqi from Drenoc
was subjected to physical ill-treatment
without any reason at the police checkpoint in
Kijeva.
On 7 February, a bus was stopped at the police
checkpoint in Kijeva. Police checked the
identities of and insulted the passengers, among
whom was Cen Desku, a counsellor for
culture at the District Financial Council and
member of the Board of the LDK branch in
Malisheva.
GJILAN: On 28 January, Irfan Isufi (1954),
a bill-collector at the District Financial
Council, was taken for "informative talks" on
the assembly and members of the Board of
the LDK sub-branch in "Z.S.Aga" quarter, the
financial means, etc.
On 2 and 3 February, workers of compulsory judicial
service lead by 2 clerks and 4
policemen, destroyed the business building owned
by brothers Blerim (1965), a physician,
Kushtrim (1969), a jurist, and Shkumbin Bajrami
(1978), a student. The whole inventary
was taken to the "Gosha-Metallac" Enterprise.
PRIZREN: On 2 February, police raided the
house of Adem Sallauka, a teacher, and
searched for his brothers Avni and Skender, who
have been living abroad for two years.
On 6 February, at the border with Macedonia in
Han i Elezit, police prevented Afërdita
Çollaku (Zajmi) from entering Kosova.
She has been living in Tirana (Albania) with her
family. She was subjected to psychological ill-treatment,
insults and threats for several
hours. In the end, she was forced to go back
to Albania.
VITIA: On 3 February, two policemen from
Vitia searched for weapons at the house of
Arben Dalipi, a farmer from Begunca, who was
not at home. 4 policemen searched for
Arben on 6 February, too.
KAMENICA: On 4 February, Ismet M. Masurica
(1951) from Muçivërc near Kamenica,
employed in Switzerland, was summoned and reported
to the Security Centre in Gjilan the
next day. Inspectors Vlado and Branko interrogated
him on the LDK branch in Switzerland,
parliamentary elections in Kosova and the reason
of his visits to Kosova.
GLLOGOC: On 5 February, Halim Beqir Sylaj
(1975), a technician from Kishnareka,
was subjected to physical ill-treatment at the
police checkpoint in Komoran and he was
interrogated on weapons and foreign currency.
On 6 February, Nazmi Miftar Franca (1975) from
Tërstenik, living in Çikatova e Re, was
taken to the police station in Gllogoc. There,
he was subjected to physical ill-treatment
under the pretext that he had not served the
army. Then, he was taken to the police
checkpoint in Komoran and forced to carry sacks
of sand for their needs. He was taken
back to the police station in Gllogc and forced
to clean it.
On 7 February, Behxhet Berisha (1974) from Gllanasella
was stopped and physically ill-
treated without any reason at the police checkpoint
in Komoran.
MITROVICA: On 5 February, three policemen
and two civilians went to the house of
Emin Hazir Hajdari (63), "Tavnik" quarter, and
searched for his sons Fadil (34) and Zenel
(30), who are currently living abroad.
On 6 February, in the vicinity of the market,
two policemen stopped Berat Sadri Tahiri (14),
took him to the police station, physically ill-treated
him and looted 70 packs of cigarettes
estimated to DM 60.
On 7 February, over 15 policemen and two civilians
stationed in the vicinity of the bus
station stopped and checked the identities of
Shpend Hajriz Istrefi (24), Besnik Murat
Kumnova (23) and Rizah Osman Mustafa (23) - from
"Ibri" quarter, who were taking a sick
person to the hospital. Police threatened Shpend
with liquidation and released them
ordering to look straight ahead.
OBILIQ: On 5 February, Sheqir Hoti and
Ramadan Thaçi from Sibovc were
summoned to the police station. Sheqir was sent
to the prison of Lipjan to serve his
sentence of 60 days imprisonment for keeping
weapon without permit. Ramadan was
released.
On 7 February, Hamit Mirena and Murat Morina
were taken to the police station and a
considerable quantity of goods were confiscated
from them.
SHTIME: On 5 February, Hyzer Gashi, member
of the Board of the PPK branch in
Shtime, was taken for "informative talks" on
the enigmatic killing of Dalip Dugolli from
Petreshtica in last November.
ISTOG: On 5 February, in the way Prishtina-Istog,
two policemen stopped the bus of
"Shpati-turs" Tourist Agency, owned by Ramë
Xhemaj from Caralluka and Ahmet Neziri
from Tërstenik. One of the policemen threatened
Rama with the gun. The next day, at the
Serbian Run District Court was sentenced to a
term of 15 days imprisonment, while Ahmet
was fined with 500 dinars.
On 7 February, Xhafer A. Kuçaj, an activist
of Sub-CDHRF, was stopped by the policemen
and was interrogated on the political activity,
insulted and threatened.
SKëNDERAJ: On 5 February, in Peja,
police arrested Tahir Prokshi (1975) and
Mensur Gashi from Peja - students of the High
Commercial School. They were kept at the
police station until the next day. Tahir was
accused that he and his brothers are allegedly
members of the KLA and are financially supported
by his father, who has been working in
Germany. He and Mensur were subjected to physical
ill-treatment. Due to injuries suffered,
Tahir was compelled to seek medical care.
FERIZAJ: On 5 and 6 February, drafting
summons were delivered to Albanian
youngsters in the villages of Softaj and Pojata.
PODUJEVA: On 5 February, police searched
for Fadil Avniu, who is currently living in
Germany.
PEJA: On 7 February, Bajram Kukaj was summoned
to the Security Centre and was
subjected to physical ill-treatment in order
to tell everything about the workshop of his
employer Rifat Ferizi. Due to injuries suffered,
Bajram was taken to the hospital, due to
suffered bad injures.
