FROM 11 MARCH UNTIL 15 MARCH, 1998
DRENICA REGION:
SKëNDERAJ: After
the massacre and killings perpetrated by police, military and
paramilitary forces in Prekaz i Poshtëm
and Llausha from 5-7 March, many villages of the
district of Skënderaj are still blocked
by armed Serbian forces. Snipers have been killing
and wounding people that come out of their houses
for needed supplies: food, water,
medicines...
On 12 March, on the
way Broja-Turiçec, police killed Ali Rrahman Lutani (58) from
Turiçec, who had gone out to get some
medicines for his ill mother.
On 5 March, Ali's house was attacked by Serbian
police and army, whereas Ali was beat
up until he fainted in the presence of his mother,
father and children.
On 14 March, in Runikë, police killed Muhamet
Beqir Miftari (45) from Vitak.
During the escape, two
families lost their babies. Two newly-born babies, the daughter
of Fatmir Hoxha and the daughter of Ramë
Sejdiaj from Turiçec, have frozen during the
night.
Recent days, police
wounded Naser Hetemi and Veton Jetullahu from Tushila, Raif
Bajram Bajrami (38) and Fatmir Zeqë Bajrami
from Klina e Poshtme, Ahmet Zuka's son
from Broja. The whereabouts of 6-member-family
of Sadik Hysen Jashari from Prekaz i
Poshtëm: two sons - Hamdi (30) and Ramiz
(20), the wife Hafije, pregnant daughter-in-law
Remzije, Elfije and Fatime (22), are still unknown.
On 5 March, they sheltered in the basement of
their house, which was bombed by Serbian
forces and destroyed completely.
On 14 March, a relative of theirs from Likoshan,
accompanied by the police commander in
Mitrovica, went to Jasharaj quarter, completely
ruined by Serbian police and military forces
and noticed the steam coming out of the basement
of the house of Sadik Hysen Jashari.
They also smelled the scent of dead bodies. He
attempted to enter the basement to find
out what has happened to that family, but he
was prevented by the policeman. So, their
destiny is still unconfirmed.
According to some unconfirmed information, eight
members of this family were killed and
burnt up.
The whereabouts of Bashkim
Ali Dibrani from Tushila and Ajvaz Kajtaz Jashari (19)
from Prekaz are still unknown, as well as the
destiny of 30 "surrendered" and arrested
people.
It seems that the Ammunition Plant in Skënderaj
has been transformed into a
concentration camp, where the Albanians have
been tortured.
270 women, children and elderly from Kopiliq
i Poshtëm, Lludoviq, Llausha, Rrezalla and
Açareva, took shelter in the facilities
of the primary school of Tushila in very difficult
conditions.
About 60 women and children are being kept hostage
in the house of Bekë Ibish Thaçi in
Broja, and they do not know anything about the
destiny of their men.
Selë Latif Hajdini (50) and Ajete Bislim
Hoti (62) from Broja, who were wounded on 5
March while taking timbers in front of the house,
were sent to the hospital of Peja. They
were accompanied by Zarife Kastrati (19) and
Nexhmije Hajdini (13).
Zade Elshani from Baica, who had gone to the
Maternity Hospital in Skënderaj on 4
March, Smajl Bazaj (18) and Fatime Bazaj (20)
from Tërstenik, who were paying visit to
Jasharaj quarter on the day the massacre took
place, are still missing.
The whereabouts of Ilmi Riza Kastrati (28) from
Broja are still unknown.
Meanwhile, the Council
prepared the list of 43 identified victims of the massacre in
Prekaz i Poshtëm and Llausha, but the list
is expected to be longer, due to the fact that 10
bodies killed, massacred, burnt up were buried
yet unidentified. It is supposed that there
are victims still on fields.
According to the list
issued on 13 March, the following persons were massacred in
Prekaz i Poshtëm and Llausha in the district
of Skënderaj from 5-7 March:
Shaban Murat Jashari (74), a pensioner; Zahide
Jashari (72), a housewife; Hamëz
Shaban Jashari (47); Adem Shaban Jashari (42);
Zarife Bahtir Jashari (49); Feride Jashari
and Adile Bahtir Jashari (40) - housewives; Hidajete
Rifat Jashari (18, female), Igball Rifat
Jashari (13, male); Igballe Rifat Jashari (11,
female) - a pupil; Selvete Hamëz Jashari (20,
female); Besim Hamëz Jashari (16, male);
Afete Hamëz Jashari (17, female); Blerim
Hamëz Jashari (12, male); Fatime Hamëz
Jashari (8, female); Blerina Hamëz Jashari (7,
female); Fitim Adem Jashari (17, male); Kushtrim
Adem Jashari (13, male) - a pupil;
Elhame Jashari (old woman); Blerim Zenë
Jashari (16); Bujar Zenë Jashari (12, male);

Bajram Gashi (16) and Makfire Bajram Gashi (13,
female) - all from Llausha.
Police buried all identified
and unidentified victims on 10 March preventing the autopsy
and the burial ceremony. The next day, family
members aided by the villagers, dug the
bodies and reburied them according to the tradition.
During the digging, people identified
the body of Bashkim Rifat Jashari.
THE COURSE OF EVENTS IN DRENICA AND ITS SURROUNDING
11 MARCH:
SKëNDERAJ: Drenica
villages are still besieged by the armed Serbian forces. Large
police and military forces circulate towards
villages of Llausha, Broja, Vojnika, Açareva,
Turiçec, Kopiliq, Polac, Prekaz i Poshtëm,
Rakinica, Tërrnavc, Klinë e Poshtme, Rrezalla
and backward to Mitrovica, Komoran and Klina.
Fire shootings are heard from time to time.
People remained in their houses daring not to
go out due to the threatening of snipers.
prior to the Serbian
terror, many families, women, children, elderly fled their homes and
took shelter in other villages and settlements.
Due to the evacuation of Drenica and ethnic
cleansing of Kosova, Serbian police have created
a "corridor" towards Mitrovica, so that
people could flee this area. nevertheless, the
escapees have been subjected to physical
ill-treatment by the Serbian police. According
to the available information of the CDHRF,
about 20.000 women, children and elderly fled
Drenica. But, the return process has begun
in some villages.
On 11 March, in Marina,
police stopped dr. Zekeria Cana, a historian and a human
rights activist, dr. Bajram Mëziu, a physician.
Bajram was physically ill-treated, whereas
police took films from them and kept them for
two hours. Then, they were taken to the
police station in Gllogoc and were subjected
to interrogation for an hour. police took films
and photos from Sali Cacaj, member of the CDHRF,
too.
As the men managed to
escape, 48 women and children took shelter in the house of
Ibish Thaçi in Broja from 5 until 11 March.
Policemen situated at the houses of Brahim Bislimi
and Bislim Thaçi did not allow them to
go out. After they left, only Osman Thaçi,
a 100-year old man, remained.
Police forces situated
at the houses of brothers Hajdar (54), Sheshivar (48) and Januz
Sefer Syla (44); Rexhep (52) and Hajzer Cenë
Haxhiu (48); Hasan (48) and Isa Ukë
Dibrani (44) and the late Xhafer Miftar Syla
(36), who died due to the shock when over 50
policemen surrounded his house, broke the doors
in order to light the fire in the house-
yards.
Meanwhile, police have been preventing villagers
to approach their houses and the cattle
have remained in the stalls without food and
water for six days now.
Last night, police shot towards Qerim Qerim Syla
(42), who attempted to feed his cattle.
GLLOGOC: In Marina,
police stopped and checked the identities of the citizens, who
were going to take part in the burial of the
massacred and killed people in Prekaz i
Poshtëm. Some of them were subjected to
physical ill-treatment.
Today, large police forces by armoured cars,
APCs and other vehicles left towards
Skënderaj.
A group of activists
from Gllogoc, who visited Kopiliq today, declared that police forces
had looted valuables: jewellery, money, etc.,
and broken and demolished everything -
particularly in the Larkoja and Hyskaj quarters.
On their way to Gllogoc they noticed that
the place where victims were buried was surrounded
by police forces.
VUSHTRRI: Veli Karaça,
member of the Presidency of the LDK branch in Vushtrri,
Avdyl Sejdiu, an activist, and Gani Maloku, owner
of the house where the LDK operates,
were summoned to the police station. They were
interrogated on the supplying of the
refugees from Drenica, who took shelter in Vushtrri.
MITROVICA: A bus of
women and children from Skënderaj arrived at 12.30 p.m. This
bus was stopped several times, and police ill-treated
passengers.
In Vojtesh, police stopped the bus from Skënderaj
and physically ill-treated Brahim Zenë
Ahmeti (28).
In the vicinity of the Chemical Fertiles' Plant,
police stopped the bus coming from Vushtrri
and ill-treated Fitim Tahir Krasniqi (17) from
Vushtrri, pupil with "Xheladin Deda" medical
school in Mitrovica only because he did not know
to reply in Serbian.
The following persons were legitimated and nationally
insulted while travelling with a car:
Ilmi Tafil Beqiri (49), Shpëtim Hamdi Haxhimehmeti
(34), Advije Haxhimehmeti (40) and
Shefkije Haxhimehmeti (67), whereas Nexhat Qazim
Haliti (25) from Stantërgu, Basri Bejtë
Osmani (40) and Shefki Bejtë Osmani were
stopped and physically ill-treated nearby
Sitnica bridge.
Four unidentified persons recorded and photographed
the houses of Latif Bekë Latifi (58),
Qamil Aziz Qamili (59), Skënder Aziz Qamili
(53) and Ali Bajram Latifi (45), all in Shipkovc
village.
PRISHTINA: International
Committee of Red Cross and Red Crescent and other
humanitarian organizations were threatened to
be killed and most of their staff moved to
Belgrade.
12 MARCH:
SKëNDERAJ: Serbian
military, police and paramilitary forces, plundered, demolished
and destroyed Xanaj quarter in Polac village
during their stay there from 5-12 March. The
police plundered everything they found including,
TV sets, video-recorders, tape-
recorders, satellite dishes, gold valuable things
and others in the houses of Avni, Ukshin,
Avdi, Smajl, Ali, Vehbi, Muhamet and Nexhat Xani.
3 TV sets, 2 video-recorders and 1
receiver were plundered from Muhamet; 4.000 DM
were plundered from Smajl; gold
valuable 10.000 DM were plundered from Ali.
The police also plundered and demolished the
service of row material owned by Nazmi
Xani from Polac village, living in Skënderaj.
15 bunkers were dug by the police and inscriptions
like "This is Serbia", "Death for
Albanians" and others were writen everywhere.
Dushkaja quarter of
Prekaz was also plundered by the police. From Maliq Maliqi police
plundered things valuable 12.000 DM, from Bajram
Idrizi 3.500 DM, Zekë Idrizi 4.500 DM,
Jeset Jetullahu 3.500 DM, Bajram Muharremi 4.000
DM. Latif B. Maliqi 4.500 DM and
others.
The policemen who settled
in Albanian houses in Tërnavc also demolished and
plundered everything. In the house of Hasan Ukë
Dibrani (48) police stole gold things
valuable 4.000 DM; in the house of Isa Ukë
Dibrani (44) 1 tape-recorder and CD player, 1
photo-camera, demolished the car and tore apart
some paintings. In the house of Januz
Sefer Syla (40), police stole a part of the satellite
dish, all the food in the fridge, tore apart
all Albanian national symbols and plundered 27.000
DM.
MITROVICA: A police
squad went after a 6-member-family who was trying to escape
from Drenica and shelter in Kçiç
i Madh village. This family was also chased by a
helicopter.
VUSHTRRI: A military
helicopter flew from Vushtrri to Drenica.
Financial police confiscated 12.350 kg. dedicated
to the families of Drenica.
GLLOGOC: Some buses
with policemen and armoured cars were moving back and
forth from Komoran to Skënderaj. One military
plane flew above Kozmaq village. From
1.00 to 3.00 a.m. shootings were heard in Llausha.
HANI I ELEZIT: After
the massacre in Drenica the Serbian army is enforcening the
border and provoking the Albanian civilians in
different forms.
13 MARCH:
MITROVICA: In Mitrovica
and other towns the police is checking for any possible
wounded person in the hospitals. In tuberculosis
clinic two policemen and one plane-
clothed policeman searched the rooms in the hospital.
Several police vehicles
were seen moving forth and back to Skënderaj.
Three police checkpoints
were set up between Stantërg and Mitrovica. They have been
stopping and ill-treating passengers.
At the checkpoint in Shipol, police forced out
all passengers and physically ill-treated
Shukri Jahir Zejnullahu (15) from Llausha of
Skënderaj. His mother was with him.
In Marina of Skënderaj, police stopped the
bus of "Ferronikel", checked the identities of
the passengers, insulted them on a national basis
and cursed their "Albanian mother".
GLLOGOC: Police and
military vehicles went towards Skënderaj.
14 MARCH:
SKëNDERAJ: The besiegement
of more than 20 villages of Drenica has been
continuing for more than 10 days now. The majority
of these villages have run out of the
electricity, whereas food supply through legal
ways is impossible. Animals remained in the
stalls without food and water. A "corridor" towards
Mitrovica was left open in order to
evacuate all population. Many homes were left.
270 women, children and elderly from
Kopiliq, Lludoviq, Llausha, Rrezalla and Açareva
took shelter in the premises of the
primary school of Tushila.
MITROVICA: Police vehicles
were seen moving towards Skënderaj.
15 MARCH:
SKëNDERAJ: The situation
in the villages of Drenica is grave aiming escalation. About
20 villages with over 23.000 inhabitants are
still surrounded by armed Serbian forces.
According to the field associates, many other
villages were attacked at the same time
when Prekaz was attacked. The houses were damaged,
people were wounded, killed and
kidnapped. People have not been allowed to leave
or enter the region since 5 March. The
lack of food, medicines and clothes is concerning.
The agricultural airport
in Marina is being electrified. Large police forces with heavy
weaponry were stationed there. Police movement
towards Llausha were noticed.
At about 12.30 p.m. police vehicles came from
Mitrovica and were stationed at the
Ammunition Plant in Skënderaj. Due to the
concentration of the forces it is feared that
another attack might take place. At about 6.00
a.m., a helicopter flew over Llausha and
other villages, whereas 30 armed policemen in
high alert went towards Llausha.
Police have not replied
to the request for searching for the bodies of 8 family members
of Sadik Jashari.
MITROVICA: Groups of
policemen were situated on both sides of the way Mitrovica-
Skënderaj. Police and military vehicles
of weapons, soldiers and police went towards
Skënderaj.
KLINA: Military and
police vehicles went towards Skënderaj.
INFORMATION ON THE PEACEFUL PROTESTS OF 9 AND 13 MARCH 1998
PRISHTINë: On 13
March, in "Dragodan" quarter in Prishtina, from 3.00 - 3.30, over
150.000 Albanians protested peacefully against
Serbian violence and massacre in
Drenica. Police did not intervene during the
protests. Before and after the protests, several
Albanians were subjected to physical ill-treatment.
In "Dardania", two policemen ill-treated Faruk
Jashanica (1979), a pupil from Bellaqec i
Madh, and Sami Ahmet Jashanica (1972), a student,
"Dardania" quarter SU 4/4 F6 35;
Arian Dragaçina (1977), a student from
Lipjan; Pranvera Zejnullahu (1976), a student,
"Dardania" quarter SU 4/4 F5 6; as well as Hava
Balaj (1950), a teacher with the
Gymnasium "Sami Frashëri", "Dardania" quarter
SU 4/1 D2 6, who attempted to help the
latter two.
After the protests, 4 policemen stopped and physically
ill-treated Blerta Zeqiri (1982), pupil
with the "Dr. Ali Sokoli" secondary medical school,
living at "Dubrovniku" street no. 95,
whereas nearby the sport center "Boro and Ramizi"
the students Hasan Imer Nura (1973)
and Faruk Nura (1977) from Lubizhda village of
Viti were also ill- treated. The three of
them sought for medical treatment.
After the protests in Prishtina, nearby the Medressah
"Alaudin", a serbian military truck
threw tear gas and provoked the civilians.
VITI: On March
13, Enver Sahiti (1960), worker with the "Eco-office" was taken for
"informative talks for participating in the protests
of 9 March. His office was raided.
PEJA: During the protests
of March 9, the following persons were physically ill-treated:
Halit H. Durmishi (55), Tafë B. Lokaj (57)
and Musa Nallbani (63), all from Peja; Isuf S.
Kelmendi (1939), from Bërzhenik; Sylejman
J. Shala (25) from Dobërdoll; Shpëtim S. Bobi
(1974), Muharrem R. Bobi (1937), Shaban O. Mahmutaj
(1932) and Xhemajl R. Huskaj
(1937) all from Lubeniq; Sherif H. Xhevukaj (30),
Ramë I. Xhevukaj (16), Nazmi M. Latifi
(1961), living at "Hekurudha" street, Sylë
S. Alidemaj (1942), driver with "Kosovatrans" of
Peja.
LIPJAN: On 9 March, nearby
"Jeta e Re" quarter of Lipjan, police stopped and
physically ill-treated Smajl Shaqiri (1932),
pensioner and Avdi Brestovci (1932),
unemployed, both from Bregu i Zi. Police was
trying to prevent them to take part in the
peaceful protests.
On 9 March, Isak Berisha was taken for "informative
talks" by the police inspector
Qanovic, who threatened him due to for closing
his private-owned store during the
peaceful protests.
MALISHEVA: On 9 March,
at about 10.30, nearby Dubovik, 10 policemen from the
local police station of Kijeva stopped and legitimated
Gazmend B. Kryeziu (1979) from
Bubaveci and Besnik Gashi from Kijeva, both pupils.
The pupils were both sent to the local
police station of Kijeva and were physically
ill-treated.
PODUJEVA: On 9 March,
Bedri Adem Mulolli (1975) from Shajkoci village was
kidnapped by 4 masked persons. He was kept in
an unknown place for four days and was
physically ill-treated.
Ejup Pajaziti from Turiqica,
Enver Muqiqi from Llapashtica e Epërme, Gani Hoxha from
Obrança and Nazmi Vokrri from Sfeçla
were dismissed from their working positions by the
compulsory authorities in Armory Plant for participating
in peaceful protests.
HANI I ELEZIT: On 10
March, confiscated 40 photos and a camera film from Muhamet
Dernjani, a photographer, who took pictures of
the peaceful protestors in hani i Elezit.
Compulsory director of the Construction Material
suspended Nefail Bajramaliu, living at
"Lagjja e Re" of Hani i Elezit from work for
participating in peaceful protests.
OTHER INFORMATION:
11 MARCH:
PEJA: Unknown persons
threw a bomb in front of the house of Ekrem Lluka, owner of
the "Dukagjini" printing house.
VITIA: The last two
days, Enver Sahiti from Budrika was taken to the police station for
his participation in the peaceful protests of
9 March. Kërsta Marinkovic, a security
inspector, interrogated him on the organization
of the protest.
Vetim Syla (1958) from Begunca was arrested in
front of his shop. On the way to the
police station in Vitia, he was provoked, physically
ill-treated and threatened with liquidation
for the participation in the peaceful protests.
DM 70 were confiscated from him.
Due to the participation in peaceful protests,
market inspectors closed down many private
shops, owned by the Albanians: "Fitorja" shop,
owned by Vehbi Rama; "Semenara",
owned by Hajrije Qerimi.
Six policemen arrested Ramiz Haxhiu from Kabash
for his participation in the peaceful
protests of 9 March.
MITROVICA: Policemen
have been stationed in the vicinity of the Leather Plant in
"Bair" quarter, and towards villages of Suhodoll,
Vinarc, Gushavc, Vidimriq and Çabër.
They have been stopping, checking the identities
of and ill-treating passers-by.
Halil Avdiu (70) and
his son Abit (25) from Broboniq have been arrested for weapons.
GJAKOVA: Shootings from
automatic guns were heard in Cërmjan village as
suspected in the houses of Babovic and Fatic
families. Due to these shootings the police
ill-treated the following persons: Sadik, Bali
and Dervish Luma, Gazmend Plava, Nexhat
Pozhari, Agim Fazli Hoxha and Palush Krasniqi.
Nearby Beci bridge the police stopped "Suka tours"
bus, broke the windows and ill-treated
the following passengers: Isa Alia, Bashkim Alia,
Artan Rexhepi, Emin Hoxha and Binak
Hoxha. Bashkim Alia was taken to the police station
where he was kept overnight and was
physically ill-treated. Ukë Leka, Nexhmedin
Delia, Lah Ismajli, Ymer and Elez Xhevdet Alia
were physically ill-treated.
DEÇAN: Shootings
by Serbian police and paramilitary forces were heard in some
villages of Deçan. Sali Cacaj (1951),
vice-chair of the LDK local Branch in Deçan and
Bajram Hadërgjonaj (1957) from Prekolluka
were taken to the police station for
"informative talks".
PRIZREN: Hasi region
which borders with Albania is under police control. All those
travelling in this region are being controlled
by the police and there are cases of ill-
treatment as well.
Masar Kuksi, member
of the Social Democratic Party of Kosova, Prizren branch and
owner of "Arjeta" boutique was imprisoned by
the police.
PEJA: Shootings were
heard in Novosella village. Two policemen physically ill-treated:
Ukë I. Kastrati (1963) and Sami U. Haradinaj
(1971) from Raushiq village and Halil R.
Shala (1963), Mujë R. Shala (1971) and Gani
R. Shala, all from Brezheniku.
Sami S. Murseli (27)
from Treboviqi, Blerim Balaj (23) student from Zabllaqi village of
Istog, Sadik S. Ibraj (1959) from Novosella,
Nebi M. Zogu (1974) student from Kliqina
village and Fidel A. Krasniqi (16), pupil from
Peja, living at "Novi Sadi" street no.10, were
beaten up by the police nearby Vitomirica.
KAMENICA: Police searched
weapons in the house of Naim Xh. Dërmaku (1959) in
Shipashnica village, temporarily employed in
Switzerland and in the house of Naim H.
Biçkaj in Hogosht village.
ISTOG: Nearby the town
entrance police stopped and physically ill-treated the following
youngsters: Shemsedin and Arben Januzaj, Labinot
I. Blakaj (17) and Shefqet Gashi, all
from Prigoda village, Isuf Bujupaj, Deli Maxharraj,
Gazmend Fejzaj, Xhavit and Mentor
Hasanaj all from Cërrca village and Smajl
Sejdiaj from Lubizhda village.
PODUJEVA: At the police
check-point in Komoran of Gllogovc, Serbian police
physically ill-treated: Bekim Duriqi (21), Meriton
Duriqi (20), Sevdail Duriqi (25) and Xhevat
Duriqi who were going to take part in the burial
of the victims in Prekazi i Poshtëm village
of Drenica.
FERIZAJ: The following
were summoned to the police station: Nexhat Misini from Tërni
village, LDK activist, for political activity;
Arben Krasniqi (1978) was physically ill-treated for
weapons and for selling cigarettes; Danush Kadriu
from Slivova village, LDK activist, for
political activity. Nearby the bus station in
Prishtina, police stopped, legitimated and
confiscated 300 dinars from Rashit Çala,
student from Mirashi village of Ferizaj. Rashit
was also physically ill-treated.
12 MARCH:
MITROVICA: At the checkpoint
in Shipol, police stopped and physically ill-treated
Behram Shaban Behrami (47), Beshir Shaban Behrami
(40), Naim Behram Behrami (22),
Haradin Ajet Uka (55), Jeton Emin Haziri (17)
- from Mitrovica; Arben Gashi (20) and Gani
Gashi (18) - from Skënderaj.
Four plainclothed policemen and a uniformed one
checked the basement of "Fazli
Grajçevci" Primary School in Shipol. They
searched for Besim Peci, a physician, Tefik
Sadiku, a worker, and arrested Ukshin Zeqiri,
a worker with this school.
The very same policemen raided the house of Imer
Fazli Sadiku and physically ill-treated
Flamur Agim Ramadani (12) and Mustafë Fazli
Sadiku (18), who were playing football.
DEÇAN: Police
stopped and ill-treated Muhamet Hulaj and Naim Lokaj from Prilep of
Deçan and some passers-by from Irzniq.
ISTOG: The last two
days, more Serbian forces were noticed. In the vicinity of the bus
station, four policemen physically ill-treated
Halit Avdiaj (1963) and ordered him to remove
letters "USA" from his jacket accusing him for
being a USA spy.
Osman Osmanaj (1976), a student, and two other
passengers were ill-treated by the
police in Dollc of Klina.
In the vicinity of the bus station, police physically
ill-treated Kreshnik Rugova from
Carralluka, Lan Beqiraj, Bujar Berisha and Rifat
Blakaj from Saradran.
SHTIME: Bekim Halili
(1980), a pupil of "Naim Frashëri" Secondary School, was taken
to the police station and physically ill-treated,
because he was seen reading "Zëri"
magazine. Nazmi Ademi, a teacher, was taken for
"informative talks".
VUSHTRRI: Police searched
for Mensur Sinan Hyseni (1977), who is currently living in
Germany.
PEJA: At the hospital
of Peja, police physically ill-treated Nexhat Ademaj from Lubova
near Istog, who had come to visit his father
Azem Ademaj, who got wounded in the
peaceful protests of 9 March.
Police arrested Drita Q. Gllogjani (1964) from
Peja, a worker with "Rilindja", and raided her
house. At the police station, she was interrogated
about her brother Shkëlzen Q. Gllogjani,
and later on she was released.
Fire shots were heard in Novosella. About 20
policemen and some civilians raided
Krasniqi family and ill-treated its members:
Selim Sylë Krasniqi (1958) and Albert Krasniqi.
PRIZREN: Large police
forces have been noticed in Hasi region on the border with
Albania. Five police checkpoints have been set
up on the highway and at the Drini i
Bardhë bridge. In the outskirts of Gjonaj
village, police stopped and physically ill- treated
Ibrahim Marallusha, a taxi driver, and his companion
Jakup Hoxha from Gjonaj.
GJILAN: Naser Korça
(1966) from Zabel, a worker and an LDK activist, was taken for
"informative talks".
PODUJEVA: Police searched
for weapons at the house of Hakif Hasani, a farmer from
Podujeva.
FERIZAJ: Skënder
Idrizi and Jakup Kadriu, LDK activists, were summoned to the
police station for their political activity.
Ekrem Maliqi and Osman Osmani from Rahovica,
LDK activists, were summoned as witnesses.
GJAKOVA: Serbian police
arrested Nezir Lushaj and Qamil Meta, LDK activists in
Piskota.
LIPJAN: Fitim Selimi,
Banush Gashi and Agim Ibrahimi, LDK activists, were arrested by
the police.
13 MARCH:
PEJA: In Zahaq, police
ill-treated Enver Shabanaj from Sverka, Ragip Kuqi and Haxhi
Berisha from Lutogllava.
PRIZREN: Serbian compulsory
authorities ruined the premises of "Durcom" Enterprise,
owned by Fehmi Dërguti from Prizren, "Lekë
Dukagjini" st.56, even though the owner had
the construction permit issued in 1984.
PODUJEVA: Police searched
for weapons at the house of Ismet Sheqiri.
MITROVICA: At the Serbian
Run District Court in Mitrovica the trial against Çerkin
Rrahim Ibishi (50), journalist with "Rilindja"
continued. Çerkin is charged for writing an
article against Dragan Petrovic, director of
"Trepça" hotel and catering.
GJILAN: Two Serbian
policemen stopped Arsim Rexhepi (1978), a student, and
physically ill-treated him. 350 dinars were looted
from him.
PRISHTINA: Two massacred
bodies, a woman and a child were brought to the new
cemetery of Prishtina. Police observed the burial
from a distance.
GJAKOVA: Marjan Nikolla
and his mother were attacked and wounded by some
masked Serbian speaking people.
FERIZAJ: Misret Sylejmani
from Rahovica was summoned to the police station in
Ferizaj under unknown pretext.
14 MARCH:
PRISHTINA: In the vicinity
of "Bozhur" hotel, Fatmir Kastrati, chairman of the PPK
branch in Prizren and Rexhep Manxhuka, chairman
of PPK branch in Suhareka
underwent routine checking by two policemen.
They were on their way to the weekly
meeting at the Main seat in Prishtina. They were
both physically ill-treated.
OBILIQ: At about 6.00
a.m. around 20 uniformed policemen and two civilians entered
the house of Remzi Haziri in Raskova, raided
and demolished it. Remzi and his wife Nurie
were taken to the police station under unknown
pretext.
MALISHEVA: At the check-point
in Kijeva police stopped and physically ill-treated Avdyl
Hoti, a pupil of secondary school and Besim Hoti,
a pupil of primary school, both from
Carralluka. Due the fact that they did not speak
Serbian, both were beaten up.
15 MARCH:
DEÇAN: Albanians
protested peacefully against the Serbian violence and terror.
Protestors were prevented by the police to gather
in down-town Deçan. In the vicinity of
the District Assembly building police beat up
Shaban and Florim Zukaj from Beleg.
Shaban was arrested and taken to the police station.
Police ill-treated other citizens, some
of whom were forced to swallow the candles.
GJILAN: while protesting,
Albanians were attacked by police with truncheons and some
of them suffered injuries. The following reported
their cases: Selvije Pajaziti (1977), a pupil
of secondary school, "Popovica" st. 5/9; Fatmir
Mustafa (1980), a pupil, "Mumin Beqiri" st.
90; Shaban Jahiu (1936), a pensioner, "Miladin
Popovic" st. 54. Zare Cvetanovic, a Serb
citizen, attacked an Albanian demonstrator with
an iron stick.
KAMENICA: Police intervened
in the peaceful protests and prevented many citizens
from joining the crowd. Idriz Alldyz Bunjaku
(50) and some other citizens were physically ill-
treated by the policeman called Zhika Filic.
PRISHTINA: Rrahman Xhukolli
(1947), call-porter with Albanian daily "Bujku", living at
"Bregu i Diellit" 15/3, was stopped and physically
ill-treated in Vragoli village by three
policemen and two armed Serbian civilians.
MITROVICA: In the vicinity
of the Leather Plant in "Bair" quarter, two policemen
stopped Esat (30) and Hajzer Mexhit Smajli (25),
as well as Ekrem Gani Smajli (17), who
were coming back from the protests. They were
physically ill-treated, kicked and punched.
Due to injuries suffered, they sought medical
treatment.
Two policemen raided
the house of Fejzullah Azem Rrustemi (43) under unknown
pretext. The house of Asllan Bajram Asllani (74)
in "Kroi i Vitakut" quarter, was attacked by
unknown persons. The Serbian neighbours are suspected
to have attacked the house.

FERIZAJ: The following
were summoned to the police station:
(on 25 and 28 February) Haxhi Bajrami, an LDK
activist, in Nerodime e Poshtme - due to
his political activity; (on 26 February) Enver
Maliqi and his son Izet - for weapons; (on 28
February and 4 March) Ismajl Rexhepi - due to
his political activity; Sabri Begisholli (1931)
and his son Naser (1960) - for weapons and on
the whereabouts of Munish Begisholli (22),
temporarily living in Germany; (on 4 March) Rexhep
Abazi, a teacher from Komogllava -
his activity at school; (on 5 and 6 March) Vehbi
Kashtanjeva (1953), a lawyer from
Nerodime - for weapons; (on 6 March) Ahmet Brenica
(1940) from Surqina and Hamëz
and Imer Imeri from Komogllava - for weapons;
(on 5 and 7 March) Haki Shabani -
unknown pretext.
A policeman punched
Sabri Prushi (retarded).
On 8 March, two policemen searched for weapons
at the house of Nijazi Rama from
Nikadin.
On 8 march, police raided the house of Shefqet
Neziri in Doganaj. Shefqet was
summoned to report to the police station the
next day.
ISTOG: On 28 February,
police entered the house of Nebih Bërbati in Gurrakoc. He
and Ibrahim Bërbati were ordered to hand
in weapons and were accused for cooperation
with Tahir Desku.
PRISHTINA: On 2 March,
police physically ill-treated dr. Marjan Dema (1957),
professor with the Economical Faculty, living
at "Avala" st.38, and Sadie Topojani (22), a
student from Hani i Elezit.
KAMENICA: On 5 and 6
March, Shaban Surdulli from Desivojca was summoned for
weapons to the police station.
PRIZREN: On 6 March,
Mursel Osmanaj (1950) from Prizren, living at "Ramiz Sadiku"
st.210, was arrested in Gjakova. The next day,
his house was raided and sent to pre-trial
detention of 30 days. While in pre-trial detention,
Mursel was severely ill-treated and have
been facing charges for "threatening of territorial
integrity" and "terrorism".
GJILAN: On 6 March,
Idriz Shabani (1945) from Përlepnica, an LDK activist, was taken
for informative talks.
KAÇANIK: On 7
March, Safet Sabri Tusha (1977) from Sopanica was severely ill-
treated by the police at the airport of Prishtina.
Safet was on his way to Switzerland, where
he is temporarily employed. He was threatened
with liquidation and DM 200 were looted
from him.
PEJA: On 8 March, at
about 12.25 p.m., after the mess at the Catholic Church in Peja,
police brutally attacked and physically ill-treated
believers not sparing women, children or
elderly. The following reported: Dedë Gjon
Krasniqi (1963), Prend Ukë Krasniqi (1973),
Age Jak Domniku (1927), Marije Kristë Lucaj
(1949), Valter Nikollë Lucaj (1980), Tone
Tomë Mataj (1943), Bore Gjonë Mataj
(1973) and Marije Duhanaj (1925).
MALISHEVë: On 8
March, Hysen Bytyçi from Kravasaria, a veterinarian, member of the
Presidency of the LDK branch in Malisheva, was
summoned for informative talks at the
police station in Suhareka. He was interrogated
on his job and political activity.
Ibrahim Bacaliu from Kijeva was stopped, his
identity was checked and physically ill-
treated. Sadri Gashi and Izet and Avdi Gashi
- all from Kijeva, were also physically ill-
treated by the police.
On 10 March, while coming back from Prekaz i
Poshtëm, Rexhep Thaçi, Ahmet Xh. Gashi,
Qamil F. Hoti and Feriz J. Krasniqi - all from
Carralluka, were insulted and physically ill-
treated by the police in Marina. Shaqir Rrahman
Kryeziu from Pagarusha was physically ill-
treated by the police in Gjakova.
MITROVICA: On 8 March,
over 10 policemen searched for weapons at the house of
Kapllan Gjylsim Hajra (40) in "7 Shtatori" quarter.
GLLOGOC: On 9 March,
police physically ill-treated Flamur Ahmet Ahmeti (1964) in the
presence of wife and children.
HANI I ELEZIT: On 9
March, police arrested Jonuz Gashi from Has of Prizren, who was
returning from abroad.
