THE EVENTS IN DRENICA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
APRIL 12:
SKëNDERAJ: Shooting and detonations were
heard from the surrounded villages of
Açareva, Kopiliq, Broja and Llausha. In
the center of Skënderaj fire was opened on the
house of Hasan Kadriu from the village of Likovc.
The shots were fired from the
ammunition factory.
Esat Smakë Selmanaj (23) from Radisheva,
was severely ill-treated at the police check-
point in Shipol.
Nuredin (1962) and Hajredin Deliu (1965) from
Rezalla, were physically ill-treated at the
check-point in Marina. Their shop in the village
of Marina was looted by the police. Due to
injuries suffered they had to ask for medical
help.
APRIL 13:
SKëNDERAJ: Shooting was heard from different
directions. An armoured car from the
ammunition factory left for the check-point in
Marina. Many policemen headed for the hill
dividing Llausha and Skënderaj. Large police
forces and many weapons were stationed in
this place. Shots were fired on the house of
Fekë Feka. His family abandoned the house
and sought shelter elsewhere. Large police forces
were stationed at the check-point in
Tërnavc. The area surrounding this check-point
was mined. All the houses in this quarter
were abandoned. Policemen demolished and looted
the houses. Many cars and tractors
were damaged. Xhafer Haxhiu died of a heart attack.
APRIL 14:
SKëNDERAJ: At about 3-4 a.m., many shots
were heard. Airplanes flew over the region.
Avdi Qamil Loshi (26), a student from Padalishta
near Skënderaj, was arrested in
Mitrovica. He was kept in detention for 2 days.
He was physically ill-treated.
GLLOGOC: A military convoy accompanied by 4 tanks
was seen heading for Klina.
Police intervened in the families of Rrustem,
Fazli and Shaban Krelani as well as that of
Qazim Gorani (1945) in the village of Poklek.
Personal data was taken for the men over
the age of 16. Qazim was interrogated about the
male family members of Hysen, Ilaz,
Habib, Ramadan and Isuf Gorani.
On April 5, many missiles were shot from the
local police station in Poklek i Vjetër. A
missile fell some 200 m from the houses of Qazim
and Isuf Gorani.
Burim Xh. Leka (1981), a pupil with the "Leonik
Tomeu" Secondary School in Gllogoc, was
physically ill-treated while traveling on the
train from Peja to Fushë Kosova. He was called
a "terrorist".
Muharrem Bashota (1951), a professor with the
"Skënderbeu" Gymnasium in Gllogoc, was
physically ill-treated at the check-point in
Komoran. A book belonging to him was torn.
MITROVICA: Ismer (1969) and Ismail Mustafa (1969)
from the village of Poklek i Vjetër,
were stopped by the police. On checking their
identities they were physically ill-treated.
APRIL 15:
SKëNDERAJ: Musa Beqir Shala (17) from Buroja
was beaten by the police until he
fainted. He was stripped and left on the road.
Some pupils found him and took him to his
sister's place in Uça.
GLLOGOC: Petrit Bujupi (1980), Burim Garaj (1981)
and Mentor Fazliu (1980), pupils with
the "Leonik Tomeu" Secondary School, were physically
ill-treated by the police in Gllogoc.
Fatmir Garaj (1975) from Kishnareka was physically
ill-treated by the police in Komoran.
MITROVICA: A military helicopter flew over Mitrovica.
VUSHTRRIA: From April 9 until April 15, the prisoners
of Smrekovnica were forced to dig
trenches around the police check-points in Tërnavc,
Klina e Epërme, Llausha and Turiqec.
APRIL 16:
SKëNDERAJ: Police continues to fire bullets
in the direction of Albanian houses. The
house of Shaban Gucati in the village of Polac
was hit.
GLLOGOC: Sylejman Idriz Dibrani (1970) from Gradica
was arrested by the police in the
village of Dubovc near Vushtrria.
MITROVICA: 3 jeeps full of policemen came to
Mitrovica. An equal number left for
Skënderaj.
APRIL 17:
SKëNDERAJ: Many shots were fired towards
the surrounded villages in the Drenica
region. The house of Sherif Kastrati in the village
of Buroja was destroyed. Police
continues to loot the abandoned houses. During
the night, many villagers are visiting their
houses in order to feed the cattle. In the Kastrati
quarter police looted 4 tractors. 5 tanks
were stationed in the area dividing the villages
of Polac and Marina. Police fired rockets
putting a fire to the forest between Skënderaj
and Polac. Due to the quick intervention of
some 20 villagers the fire was localized. 2 tracing
bullets were fired from the ammunition
factory on the house of Rrustem Kadriu.
Fatmir Beqir Xani from the village of Polac,
a teacher with the "Zenel Hajdini" Primary
School in Tërstenik, was stopped at the
check-point in Marina and was physically ill-
treated.
APRIL 18:
GLLOGOC: The family of Dr. Hafir Shala, a physician,
arrested on April 10 has no
information on his whereabouts.
MITROVICA: Many military vehicles from Mitrovica
went to Skënderaj.
OTHER INFORMATION:
APRIL 12:
DEÇAN: Shooting was heard in the outskirts
of the village of Dubovik.
During the protest walks, Zymer Alaj (1970) from
the village of Drenoc was physically ill-
treated by the police.
In Peja, Mentor Hysenaj and Naser Kuçi
from Deçan were physically ill-treated by the
police.
KAÇANIK: Shaban Mehmet Jakupi (1975),
a mechanic living in "Ramadan Agushi" str. 84,
and Agim Nuhi Bela (1967) from the village of
Bejlan were taken to the police station and
were physically ill-treated. According to their
statement some 15 Albanians among whom a
woman were taken to the police station.
Police stopped, checked the identities of and
physically ill-treated the following:
Kadri Brava from Hani i Elezit, Bekim Halil Lika
(1976), "Rakoci" str. Kaçanik, Isamedin
Isak Kyçyku (1976), "Migjeni" str. (was
beaten until he fainted), Naser Rizah Idrizi (1963),
"Ramadan Agushi" str., Ylber Salih Berisha (1978),
"Emin Duraku" str. 19, (was sent to the
police station and was physically ill-treated).
All the above mentioned suffered severe
injuries.
A policeman named Oliver seized 3 copies of the
"Bujku" daily.
KAMENICA: During the protest walks, Bajram Pireva
(1978) was physically ill-treated by
the police.
Valon Ahmeti was beaten by the police and was
insulted on a national basis.
PEJA: During the police intervention in the city
promenade, Dardan Nikçi (1954), a dentist,
Nevzat M. Kaliqani (1971), living in "Ramiz Sadiku"
str. 75 in Peja and Besim K. Shala (18)
from Drelaj were physically ill-treated.
Sokol Selim Rugova (1960) from Rozhaja, who was
on his way to visit his sister in the
village of Carralluka near Istog, was arrested
by the police and was subjected to physical
ill-treatment.
Emin Rugova (1952), an activist of the LDK in
Carralluka, was taken to the police station in
Peja and was beaten up by the police.
ISTOG: Naser Kabashi from the village of Gjurakoc,
a professor with the Faculty of Civil
Engineering in Prishtina, was physically ill-treated
by the police. He was ill-treated under
the pretext that he did not stop as told by the
police.
MITROVICA: A plain clothed policeman recorded
with a camera the people protesting.
LIPJAN: During the previous two days police prevented
people from entering the town.
KAÇANIK: Daut Esat Shehu, a reporter of
the "Bujku" daily, was handed a summon for
informative talks.
GLLOGOC: Shaban Bardiqi (60), his nephew Agron
Bardiqi (23) and Jetullah Bardiqi (51)
from the village of Gradica, were attacked 5
unknown persons in Fushë Kosova. They
were taken to the police station in Fushë
Kosova and were kept there for about 3 hours.
MALISHEVA: Fetah Rudi, a teacher with the "Asim
Vokshi" Primary School in the village of
Panorc and an LDK activist, was stopped by the
police and was provoked for about half an
hour. Zymer Rudi, Gani Bajrami and Hamëz
Duraku, teachers with the very same school
were stopped and ill-treated.
PODUJEVA: 10 policemen raided in search for weapons
the house of Gani Haxhiu in
Podujeva. He was taken to the police and subjected
to physical ill-treatment. Gani had a
regularly issued document that he had already
handed the gun which was now being
sought from him.
Police raided in search for weapons the houses
of Rrahman (40) and Naman Maliqi (37).
They seized an old hunting gun.
Large police movements were noticed in several
villages of the Llapi region.
SUHAREKA: Four police vehicles paraded through
the village of Mushtishta and were
stationed at the local police station. Large
military forces were stationed in the village of
Luzhnica.
KLINA: Under the pretext of searching for members
of the KLA, police intervened in many
houses of the village of Shtupel near Klina.
The policemen demolished house furniture.
Arif Imeri and Gëzim Temaj as well as several
members of Mehmet Berisha's family were
subjected to physical ill-treatment.
Due to the police repression many families have
fled this village and were sheltered in
neighbouring places.
APRIL 13:
MITROVICA: Large military forces consisting of
21 trucks, accompanied by 3 tanks and 3
vehicles carrying anti-aircraft equipment left
the military barracks in Mitrovica and were
stationed in the area between the villages of
Frashër i Madh/Vogël and Pantinë. In the
village of Zabel Serbian soldiers built a camp.
In the village of Kobaqevc maneuvers are
held. A plane flew over this region.
PRISHTINA: At about midnight, detonations and
shooting was heard from the police
station in Kodra e Trimave. Police raided many
houses and ill-treated those living in the
Jablanica road in the vicinity of the police
station.
Police raided the houses of Zeqir Torra (1971),
a mechanic, Sabit Maçani (1936), a
farmer, Vahide Sekiraça (1958), a housewife,
and Rexhep Hoxha. Nazif Maçani (24), a
student, was arrested and subjected to physical
ill-treatment at the police station.
Police raided the house of the Makolli brothers
(Fatmir and Gëzim) in "Robert Gajdiku" str.
The two were arrested and subjected to physical
ill-treatment.
Astrit (24) and Gëzim Gashi, students from
the village of Çabiq near Klina; Safet Katsrati
from Balinca near Malisheva and Xhevdet Hetemi
(1969) from Prishtina were physically ill-
treated by 6 Serbian civilians. Due to injuries
suffered Astrit had to seek for medical help.
VITI: During the protest walks, police stopped
and checked the identities of many citizens.
Sadik Haxhiu (1969), secretary of the LDK branch,
was taken to the police station and was
kept there for more than an hour.
HANI I ELEZIT: Adnan Qamush Imishti (22) from
Hani i Elezit, was physically ill-treated by
the police. Dritan Loku (1979), a pupil from
Paldenica was arrested. He was taken to the
police station and was physically ill-treated
by several policemen named Braca, Sasha,
Zoki and Dragan. Due to injuries suffered he
had to seek for medical help.
Avni Hasallari, Ibush Shkreta, Setki Huneli and
Nexhmedin Fida were taken to the police
station and were physically ill-treated.
KAMENICA: Police prevented citizens from protesting
in the center of Kamenica.
PEJA: Large military forces accompanied by many
tanks and armoured vehicles were
stationed in Lutogllava. Brahim Pelaj, a member
of the presidency of the LDK sub-branch
in Radavc was arrested by 2 plainclothed policemen.
During the protests in Peja the following were
subjected to physical ill-treatment: Agim J.
Lulaj (20) from Fusha e Pejës; brothers
Naim (11) and Shpejtim Hajrullah Kaliqani (11),
Artur A. Tigani (1965), Ragip H. Loxha (1964)
and Mishel R. Shabani from the Kapeshnica
quarter.
LIPJAN: At 12.25, police ordered the protestors
to disperse.
PODUJEVA: Police raided in search for weapons
the houses of Tahir (30), Shemsi (37)
and Ismet Ymeri (34); Xhelil Asllani (86) from
Podujeva and that of Lutfi Muçolli, an LDK
activist in the village of Bajçina.
KAÇANIK: Xhelal Nazmi Gashi (1966), a
jurist and member of the presidency of the LDK
branch in Kaçanik, was arrested and subjected
to physical ill-treatment. He is still being
kept in detention. The pretext is unknown.
KLINA: Liman Demush Temaj (1954) from the village
of Shtupel, was severely ill-treated
by 5 masked policemen. He was ordered to abandon
his house. He was threatened with
liquidation. Due to this Liman and his family
fled their house.
APRIL 14:
PEJA: At noon, police intervened against the participants
of the protest walks. The
following were physically ill-treated:
Anton Gj. Kolaj (1975) and Pal Zef Kabashi (1975)
from the village of Gllogjan; Elvis Xh.
Dulaj (1980) living in "Lazar Vuçkoviq"
str. 5/A, Albert A. Muriqi (1981) "Bileqa" 7 and Ymer
Elezaj (63) "Sadik Stavileci" 63 from Peja; as
well as Sami Ademi (1978), a student from
Banja near Peja. In the vicinity of the train
station in Peja Ismet Isat Qaskaj (1980), a pupil
from Grabovc, was physically ill-treated. His
jaw was broken. Armend B. Muriqi (16), a
pupil from Loxha, and 6 other Albanians of whom
2 from Lutogllava and one from the
village of Gërmnik near Klina were taken
to the Rugova gorge, physically ill-treated and
forced to walk back to town. Brahim Pelaj, a
teacher from Novosella and an LDK activist,
was taken for weapons to the police. He was summoned
to the Security Center in Peja.
LIPJAN: Ramadan Bikliqi from Janjeva, a worker
in the "Janjeva" fast food shop in Lipjan,
was summoned for informative talks to the local
police station and was accused for
allowing the organizers of the protest walks
to meet in his shop. Police prevented the
protest walks in Lipjan.
MITROVICA: A police inspector with a camera recorded
the participants in the protest
walks. Shemsi Fejzullah Balinca (33), living
in the "Ibri" quarter, was arrested, kept in
detention for more than 2 hours and physically
ill-treated.
In the "Ibri" quarter, in the vicinity of the
"Srpska kafana" cafe, shooting from automatic
guns was heard.
Unknown persons broke the window panes of the
"Aziz Sylejmani" Primary School. The
school documentation was damaged. The school
is situated in a quarter mainly inhabited
by Serbs.
FUSHë KOSOVA: Many buses were stopped by
the police. Their plates were taken off in
order to prevent them from going to Prishtina.
KLINA: Fatmir Sokol Isaj and Faik Brahim Isaj
(1981) from the village of Kaznik near
Malisheva, living in Çupeva e Poshtme,
were stopped by two armed civilians, threatened
with guns and brutally beaten.
KAMENICA: Xhabir I. Rexha (1970), a bus driver
from the village of Koretin, was physically
ill-treated by the police. He was ill-treated
at the bus station in Gjilan.
GJILAN: A military convoy accompanied by tanks
headed for Presheva.
PRISHTINA: Izedin and Abedin Ahmeti (1974), students
from Klina e Mesme near
Skënderaj, were physically ill-treated,
threatened and insulted by the police. The two
suffered many body injuries.
FERIZAJ: A police patrol intervened in the office
of the "Mother Theresa" Charitable ë
Humanitarian Association in the village of Tankosiq.
The policemen took the names of
those employed.
PRIZREN: Rizah Muçaj, Islam Osmankaj,
Qamil Nerinvaj, Skënder Musaj, Miftar Muçaj
and Nikë Gigolaj from Lugishta e Hasit were
summoned for informative talks and were
physically ill-treated under the pretext that
on March 22, they had organized elections in
their village and had collected aid for the people
in the Drenica region.
MALISHEVA: Serbian police at the check-point
in Kijeva have been preventing villagers
from working on their fields. They also closed
down the "Llapashtica" private mill in Kijeva.
APRIL 15:
PEJA: At about 12.20 p.m. in downtown Peja, police
took a group of youngsters to the
military barracks in Peja. 10 min. later, police
arrested Muhamet M. Nikçi (1962), a
veterinarian from Bllagaj, Rizah Q. Bilalli (1965),
a worker with the Factory of Spare Parts
in Peja, Arben N. Lezi (1981) from Suhareka,
a pupil with a secondary school in Peja, and
another person. They were taken to the Rugova
gorge and severely ill-treated. They were
forced into the Bistrica river. Due to injuries
suffered they had to seek for medical help.
Dukagjin Sh. Kasapi (16), a pupil living in "Miladin
Popoviq" str. 174, was physically ill-
treated.
VUSHTRRI: Qazim Ademi, principal with "Marin
Beçikemi" Technical School in Vushtrria,
Ferat Përçuku, principal with the
primary school in Samadrexha, Xhafer Arifi and teachers:
Veton Zekolli and Naip Azemi were summoned to
the police station in Vushtrri and ordered
to report again the next day.
Rifat Behram Gërguri and two other Albanians
were arrested and physically ill-treated after
the protest walks. Due to injuries suffered,
Rifat had to seek for medical help.
LIPJAN: Police and some civilians prevented the
protest walks in the main street. Many
were arrested and physically ill-treated in the
neighbouring streets. A police inspector ran
over several protestors some of whom suffered
injuries. Alban Matoshi (1985), a pupil with
the "Vëllezërit Frashëri" Primary
School, was among them.
MALISHEVA: Prior to the protest walks, large
police forces from Rahovec and Suhareka
patrolled on the roads towards Prishtina and
Suhareka (in the vicinity of the Malisheva
Spa). They stopped and checked the identities
of many passers-by for an hour.
FERIZAJ: A military convoy consisting of 8 trucks
and two other vehicles passed through
the village of Tankosiq. In the village of Varosh,
police raided the house of and arrested
Rexhep Feriz Hetaj, Rufki Hetaj and their brother-in-law
Arsim Dërguti.
PRIZREN: Bekim Thaçi, a teacher, Mestan
Hodaj, a worker, and Gjok Dushi all from the
village of Nashec were arrested, severely ill-treated
and sentenced to terms of 20 days of
imprisonment for collecting humanitarian aid
for the people in the Drenica region.
In Planeja, police raided the houses of Alush
Maloku and Muhamet Kadri Shigjetiqi (1964).
Ymer Alush Maloku and brothers Muhamet, Ismet,
Bajram and Reshit Kadri Shigjetiqi
were arrested. The very same were beaten up in
the presence of their family members.
Fatime Shigjetiqi (80), mother of the 4 arrested,
died due to the shock suffered.
In Landovica, police took Azem Gashi for informative
talks.
Zarija Nikoliq, compulsory principal with the
"Emin Duraku" Primary School, ordered
Albanians not to conduct classes during the following
week, even though he has no
competence for classes in Albanian.
RAHOVEC: Bajram Sadik Kastrati from the village
of Drenoc was arrested by Serbian
soldiers who have been training at the place
called "Çeli". He was tied up, physically ill-
treated and taken to the military barracks in
Gjakova. He was ill-treated until 10 p.m., and
interrogated on whether he is a member of the
KLA.
GJILAN: Adem Isufi (1952), a teacher with the
primary school in Cërrnica, and Vehbi
Salihu (1957), an engineer living in "Bojana"
str. 7 in Gjilan, LDK activists, were
summoned for informative talks regarding their
political activities, parliamentarian elections
and for collecting aid for the people in Drenica.
VUSHTRRI: Large police forces shot at random
while passing through the villages of
Stanoc i Poshtëm, Bivolak and Strovc. A
police helicopter flew low over the village of
Pantina.
KLINA: Hysen A. Asllanaj (1948) from the village
of Cerovik was arrested by two
policemen at the check-point in Kijeva. He was
physically ill-treated and taken to the local
police station. On being interrogated on the
activities of the KLA he was released.
APRIL 16:
GJAKOVA: Since 1 a.m., shooting and bomb blasts
were heard from the bordering region
with Albania. The shooting continued for 12 hours
and caused concern among the
inhabitants of the Reka e Keqe region and the
town of Gjakova.
KLINA: At about 10 p.m., in the village of Gllareva,
fire shots were heard coming from the
house of Dan Beqir Balaj, a forester with the
Forest Economy in Klina, who had been
qualified as a "Loyal citizen of Serbia" by Serbian
media. The very same informed that
wounded Dan was taken for medical treatment in
Klina, Peja and Prishtina.
Military forces paraded through the villages
of Zaim, Deiq, Videja, Jagoda, Krusheva e
Madhe and Budisalc. These were stationed in Deiq
and at the agricultural airport in
Budisalc.
In downtown Klina, police arrested Zef Matë
Quni (1975) from Deiq. He was taken to the
police station and brutally tortured for participating
in protests.
DEÇAN: A police convoy consisting of 7
vehicles and an armoured car went towards the
village of Irzniq. Later on, it returned to Deçan.
From a deserted house in the vicinity of the
Health Care Center in Deçan policemen took
photos of the terrain.
OBILIQ: Fatmir Mulaku, Shukri Ademi and Shaqir
Xhaferi, teachers with the "Hasan
Tahsini" Technical Secondary School, were taken
to the police station and interrogated on
the protest walks in Obiliq. They were ordered
not to participate again in such protests.
PODUJEVA: Large police forces were stationed
in the outskirts of the town.
VUSHTRRI: Police ill-treated the following pupils:
Ruzhdi Igrishta from Vushtrri, Kadri Rama and
Fatmir Beqiri from Nevolan and Blerim
Lahu from Galica.
Afrim Azemi (1971) from Mihaliq, currently living
abroad, was summoned for drafting.
ZHUR: Mustafë Bislimaj and Asllan Fanaj
from the village of Kobaj were summoned for
weapons and collecting humanitarian aid for Drenica.
VITI: Police arrested and severely ill-treated
Nazim Selimi (1937), a carpenter from
Gërmova, when he handed in a document stating
that his son is a pupil with the "Kuvendi i
Lezhës" Secondary School.
KAÇANIK: Police searched for weapons at
the house of Nexhadi Ajet Luta, a teacher, in
the village of Ivaja.
HANI I ELEZIT: Serbian soldiers fired bullets
towards the car of Sali Tefik Vila from Hani i
Elezit. The lives of his two sisters and 4 children
were endangered. The soldiers checked
the car and "apologized". On his return, soldiers
shot and "apologized" again.
Soldiers shot towards two youngsters passing
the river, as well as in the vicinity of the
border with Macedonia.
Ismet Imishti from Lagja e Re in Hani i Elezit
was taken for informative talks.
SUHAREKA: Shefket Trolli, a student from Dragaçina,
was stopped by the police in the
village of Duhla. He was ill-treated.
GJILAN: Ejup Uruqi (1958), principal with the
"Zenel Hajdini" Primary School in Bresalc,
was summoned for informative talks regarding
the collection of humanitarian aid for the
Drenica region as well as his educational and
political activity.
MITROVICA: At the check-point in Shipol, police
physically ill-treated Enver Milazim Baliu
(30) and Gjylazim Ajet Baliu (22) from Kopriva.
APRIL 17:
MITROVICA: 13 trucks full of soldiers accompanied
by 5 tanks left the military barracks in
Mitrovica and headed for the villages of Frashër,
Pantina and Akrashtica.
PRIZREN: At about noon, police blocked the main
street and provoked the protestors.
Police requested from the principal with the
"Mithat Frashëri" Primary School in Krajk to
remove the name of the school.
FERIZAJ: Selim Kashtanjeva (80) from Nerodimja
e Ulët was taken for informative talks
for participating in the protests. In the end
police requested from him to hand in a gun.
VUSHTRRI: 7 trucks, 6 armoured cars and 4 cannons
left Frashër and headed for
Pantina, Akrashtica and Karaçeva. In the
vicinity of Karaçeva, Serbian soldiers have been
training and breaking into houses. They have
been causing panic and frightening children
as they go to school.
Qazim Rekaliu, an activist of the LDK in Stanoc
i Poshtëm, was summoned for informative
talks and ordered to report again 2 days later.
KLINA: An armoured car and 12 vehicles without
plates left Klina and headed for Gllareva.
LIPJAN: In Hani i Elezit, at the border cross
with Macedonia, police stopped Feim Shabani
(1973), a farmer from Gadime e Epërme. He
was interrogated and physically ill-treated
under the pretext that he was going to participate
in "military training". They seized his
passport and forced him back.
APRIL 18:
DEÇAN: The situation in the district of
Deçan continues to be very tense and is
deteriorating. Large police and military movements
were noticed during the past week. Fire
shots were heard between the villages of Gllogjan
and Dubrava. Police forces
accompanied by an armoured car headed for Irzniq.
A part of the population of Dubrava
deserted their houses.
MITROVICA: Soldiers are training in the vicinity
of "Bair" quarter and in the villages of Pirq,
Verrnica and Vaganica. The cannons of the tanks
are pointed at the houses of the
villagers.
In the vicinity of Sitnica river, Hajzir Demir
Aliu (25) from Ceraja was physically ill-treated by
police under the pretext of being one of the
organizers of the protests in Mitrovica.
In the "Tavnik" quarter, police raided the house
of Muharrem Dibran Avdiu (46). 20 boxes
of cigarettes were looted from him.
Under the same pretext, police raided the house
of Bajram Mehmet Rrudhani (80), but
failed to find any cigarettes.
APRIL 19:
DEÇAN: A military convoy consisting of
13 trucks full of soldiers and 9 cannons were
stationed at the place called "Podi i Gështenjave".
The families of Sylejman Syla, Selim
Lokaj, Xhemajl Dukaj, Skënder Aliçkaj,
Rexhep Selmanaj, Nazmi Selman Musaj, etc., fled
this place and headed for the other villages
of Deçani district.
Heavily armed policemen left Deçan and
headed towards the village of Irzniq.
Two policemen named Miladin and "Buki" forced
Selman Dukaj, a taxi driver, to take them
to Gllogjan, where according to Serbian media
the KLA had taken hostage the following
Serbs: Mijat Stojanoviq and Dragosllav Stojanoviq
from Dubrava, as well as Veselin
Stijoviq from the village of Dashinoc - the three
policemen serving in Gjakova. The three
had tried to mine their houses for propagandistic
effects. The KLA released them after the
mediation of IRC.
FERIZAJ: A military convoy paraded through the
"Prizreni" road. At a moment, the soldiers
got off the trucks and took positions on both
sides of the road pointing their guns towards
the Albanians' houses.
KLINA: Two military convoys consisting of 18
trucks, 11 tanks, 8 APCs and many other
vehicles were stationed at the "Malishgani" Agricultural
Combine in Klina. From this point,
they can survey most of the territory in the
district of Klina. Some vehicles with policemen
passed through Klina and headed for Skënderaj.
PRISHTINA: Enver Makolli (1963), a shoe-maker
living in "Kodra e Trimave" quarter, was
taken to the police station and physically ill-treated.
Due to injuries suffered, he had to
seek for medical help.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
GJILAN: On March 22, Xhymshit Osmani (1955), a
professor, LDK activist and a former
political prisoner living in "Prishtina" st.1/2,
was arrested in front of the police station and
taken for informative talks. Police inspector
Goran Stamenkoviq interrogated him on his
activities and on the present situation in Kosova.
On April 2, police inspector Stanisllav Karaxhiq,
accompanied by 2 policemen, searched
for Hajredin Zeqiri from Cërnica. On August
28 1991, he deserted the Yugoslav army.
Failing to find him, they arrested his brother
Zijadin (1963), a typist. He was sent to the
police station in Gjilan, physically ill-treated,
insulted on a national and family basis and
threatened.
On April 7, a Serbian civilian threatened with
a gun Muhamet Isufi (1967), a merchant
living in "Musa Zajmi" st.36.
On April 10, Serbian policemen physically ill-treated
Ruzhdi Selishta (1971), living in
"Qenar Çeshme" st. He was accused of participating
in the protests and of being a
supporter of Adem Jashari.
PRISHTINA: On April 4, two policemen stopped,
checked the identity of and physically ill-
treated Zijadin Rizah Makolli (1980) living in
"Bledi" st.
On April 9, Sejdi Peshku, Arben Peshku and Hysri
Haziri - the three from Barileva, were
stopped by the police in "Dragodan" quarter,
insulted and physically ill-treated under the
pretext that they had come to Prishtina in order
to participate in the protests.
After the protests, an unknown person physically
ill-treated Xhabir Musa from Barileva. He
suffered body injuries.
SUHAREKA: On April 5, the Serbian Run District
Court sentenced Zenel Abazi (1978)
from the village of Mushtisht to a prison term
of 7 days, as he refused to respond to a
drafting summon sent to him on March 5, 1996.
He was immediately sent to serve the
prison term in Prizren.
OBILIQ: On April 7, three policemen fired bullets
in the vicinity of the school in Palaj. Two
masked policemen, among whom Sasha Nikoliq from
Obiliq, physically ill-treated Nuhi
Adem Çerkezi.
On April 9, during the protest walks in Prishtina,
Sejdi Kelmendi (1972) from Hamidia was
physically ill-treated.
LIPJAN: On April 8 and 10, Ali Gashi (1958),
an economist from Sllovia, was taken for
informative talks regarding his participation
in the protests in Lipjan. He was fined by the
Serbian Run District Court.
PRIZREN: On April 10, policemen arrested Ramadan
Zogaj from Dushanova, living in
"Bulevardi i Rinisë" str. 152, temporarily
employed in Switzerland. At the Security Center in
Prizren, he was interrogated on the activity
of the National Movement of the Republic of
Kosova, collection of aid for the Drenica region
and for the taxes paid by our compatriots in
Switzerland. He was charged of being an organizer
of the protests in Switzerland and was
ordered to report again on April 13.
VITI: On April 10, Emrush Azemi (1965) from Mogilla,
unemployed, member of the
Presidency of the LDK Youth Forum in Vitia, was
summoned to the Security Center. Police
inspectors Krsta Marinkoviq and Jakov Jakovleviq
interrogated him on his political activity
and the current situation in Kosova. Emrush was
threatened not to report his case to the
sub-CDHRF. He was ordered to report again on
April 15.
DEÇAN: On April 11, fire shots were heard
at the refugee settlement in Baballoç. The
shots disturbed the villagers of Baballoç,
Gramaqel, Dubrava, Irzniq, Rastavica, etc. Many
were forced to flee their houses.
In downtown Deçan, police stopped the
car driven by Ajet K. Kuçi (1976) accompanied by
Naser M. Kuçi (1976) and Xhevat S. Kuçi
(1974) - all from Deçan. They were thoroughly
checked and threatened.
VUSHTRRI: On April 11, at the check-point in
Nedakoc, police stopped the bus and forced
out Lulzim Beqiri (1974) from Oshlan. He was
severely ill-treated. Due to injuries suffered,
Lulzim had to seek for medical help.
PODUJEVA: On April 11, police searched for weapons
at the house of Lutfi Muçolli from
Bajçina. He and his two sons were ordered
to report to the police station in Podujeva on
April 13.
