FROM JUNE 21 UNTIL JUNE 26, 1998
JUNE 21:
PRISHTINA: Soldiers Fahrudin
Muriq and Fahrudin Avdiq from Montenegro deserted from the Yugoslav army
and surrendered to the KLA. In Bajram Curri (Albania), the two stated to
the Associated Press news agency that they had deserted as they did not
want to kill people in their doorsteps. Superiors had ordered them to capture
or kill all the people they came across.
In the "Lakrishte" quarter, Faruk Bajrami (1974)
from Klina e Poshtme near Skënderaj was arrested by the Serbian police.
He was visiting his brother Aqif, who was wounded on March 5. In the police
station he was brutally beaten and suffered injuries all over his body.
His passport was seized and DM. 70 were looted from him.
GJAKOVA: At 8.30 p.m.,
Serbian police and military forces stationed in Suka e Biteshit, Babaj
of Boka and the Çabrati hill started shelling the villages of Nec,
Stublla, Berjaha, Smolica, Brovina and Morina on the border with Albania.
During the last 2 days more than 500 shells were fired on Smolica. From
the very same positions Serbian forces shelled the villages of Gramaçel,
Baballoç and Gllogjan in the district of Deçan.
SHTIME: Serbian forces
re-began their attack on the villages of the Carraleva Gorge and on the
hill between Belinc and Reçak. Artillery fire was opened on the
Latifaj, Smajlaj and Eminaj quarters.
KLINA: Armed clashes
continue between Serbian police and paramilitary forces and KLA units backed
by Albanian villagers. The heaviest fighting occurred in the village of
Dush, in the vicinity of the police check-point in Pogragja and the Mushroom
Plant in Jashanica. Serbian forces stationed in Pogragja are shelling the
villages of Jashanica, Resnik and Jellovc. The inhabitants of these 3 villages
as well as those from Dush had to leave their homes and to seek shelter
in safer regions. A very tense situation prevails in Klina. Policemen and
armed Serbian civilians parade through the town and threaten Albanians
with liquidation. The center of the town was transformed into a military
test range.
GLLOGOC: Late in the
evening, Serbian police and military forces opened fire towards the Ibriqi
quarter. Serbian snipers stationed in the "Ferronikli" Plant opened fire
towards Hajriz Demaku, a khoja, and other villagers of Çikatova
e Re.
KAMENICA: During the
last 2 days, Serb civilians from Kamenica are shooting from fire weapons
in order to cause panic among the Albanians.
GJILAN: At 1 p.m., a
group of about 50 Albanian prisoners under a strong police escort were
brought from the Dubrava jail near Istog to the county jail in Gjilan.
15 heavily armed policemen
accompanied with an APC and an armored car entered the house yard of Bejtullah
Kçiku (1943), owner of the "Bejta Commerce" enterprise as well as
that of the "Inter-Europa" enterprise in the ownership of Mehmet Shkodra.
Adem (25) and Basri Kçiku (20) were beaten in the presence of other
family members. Kamer Elezi (1963), a watchman in the "Inter-Europa" enterprise
was beaten. The very same happened to Mehmet's son, Bekim Shkodra (22)
who suffered body injuries.
VUSHTRRI: Serbian villagers
from Pantina opened fire in order to cause panic among their Albanian fellow
villagers.
MITROVICA: Qazim Jonuz
Hyseni (44) from Frashër i Madh, living in the "Ura e Gjakut" quarter
in Mitrovica, was stopped by 3 policemen and 2 armed Serbian civilians
and interrogated on the KLA.
RAHOVEC: Nuredin Gashi
and Jetullah Kabashi from the village of Zoqishta, activists of the sub-CDHRF
in Rahovec, were brutally beaten by the police in the outskirts of Rahovec.
PRIZREN: Serbian police
arrested Besnik Kuki (50) under the pretext that he had supplied the KLA
with a truck full of medical supply.
JUNE 22:
DEÇAN: Heavy fighting
occurred between the Bajram Hasanaj bridge and the village of Prejlep.
The very same village was shelled by Serbian police and military forces.
There was shooting in the villages of Drenoc, Carrabreg i Poshtëm,
Irzniq, Strellc i Epërm and in a part of Deçan. There is no
information on the whereabouts of 200 Albanians who are missing and on
10 who were taken hostage by Serbian police and military forces.
GLLOGOC: Since early
in the morning Serbian forces opened fire from the "Ferronikli" Plant.
At 12.20 p.m., Serbian police forces opened fire on the car of a Danish
TV crew. Serbian police forces stationed in the Health Care Center in Komoran
opened fire towards the Llapushniku Gorge, the village of Vukovc and the
Mulaku and Vilaku quarters in Komoran. Fire was opened towards Korrotica
e Epërme. Serbian snipers stationed on top of the post office opened
fire towards the houses of Haxhi Nebihu and Ragip Rexhepi in Shtrubullova.
Hysni Hajriz Jeta (1954)
from the village of Domanek near Gllogoc, who was killed in unknown circumstances,
was buried in Gjakova.
SKëNDERAJ: Heavy
fighting occurred on the region between Drenica and the Dukagjini Plain.
Serbian forces burned the village of Jellovc and part of Jashanica. The
houses of Ibish and Daut Raci were burnt to the ground. Fazli Raci was
ill-treated. Apart from the shelling of Llausha, Serbian police and military
forces opened fire on blocks of flats in Skënderaj. The flat of Nazmi
Xani was heavily damaged. The very same happened to the houses of the Thaçi
brothers.
KLINA: Police forces
and armed Serbian civilians burnt 4 Albanian houses in the Shlivova quarter
in Jashanica. Policemen from the check-point in Dollc burnt the house of
Xhemë Gllasoviku. Serbian forces shelled the villages of Ozdrim, Jashanica,
Jashanica e Epërme, Kërrnica, Dush and Gjurgjevik i Madh. An
Albanian child was wounded.
GJAKOVA: Serbian forces
stationed in Suka e Zhdrellës, Suka e Biteshit, Qafa e Osekut and
Suka e Hereçit shelled the following villages of Reka e Keqe: Nec,
Smolicë, Morinë, Stubëll, Berjahë and Ramoc. The house
of Zef Ndrekaj was destroyed. Serbian forces stationed in Kodra e Meqës
shelled the villages of Cërmjan i Poshtëm, Kramovik and Rakovinë.
Large military forces accompanied by tanks, anti-aircraft cannons, and
other heavy machinery headed for the Hasi region and were stationed in
the villages of Rogova, Pnish and Ujza and in the Muhadraj quarter in Demjan.
SHTIME: Serbian police
and military forces stationed in "Pishat e Shtimes" shelled the villages
of Carraleva, Zborc and Belinca.
SUHAREKA: During the
afternoon, Serbian police and military forces opened automatic and artillery
fire on the village of Bllaca, especially on the Bajraktari and Suka quarters.
The houses of the following were damaged: Selim, Murat, Feriz and Hazir
Bajraktari; Agim Kroni, Ilaz and Bajram Dërguti; Sylë Frangu,
Haki, Mujë, Nuhi, and Halim Lumi; Muharrem Zekolli, Muhadin, Halim,
Milaim, Shemsi, Jetish, Qerim and Rexhep Suka; and Rrahman Baku. The very
same happened to Rifat Bekteshi's gas station. He was wounded. Ramadan
Suka had a cow killed.
VUSHTRRI: Armed Serbian
civilians from the village of Frashër blocked the road from Vushtrria
to Mitrovica. The road connects the villages of Shitarica, Okrashtica,
Pantina and Frashër with Mitrovica. All traffic is prevented.
PEJA: In the "Dardania"
quarter, a policeman and 3 Serbian civilians brutally beat up 2 Albanians
over the age of 60 and 4 girls. The ill-treated were from the regions affected
with war and were sheltered in Peja. On the road to the village of Raushiq,
Jeton Pren Krasniqi (30) from Peja was stopped and beaten up by the police.
OBILIQ: Murat Paci (62)
from Sibovc was physically ill-treated at the police check-point in Palaj.
FUSHë KOSOVA: KLA
units took under control the coal mines in Bardhi i Madh (Bellaqevc) and
the surrounding villages. In the afternoon, these units took under control
the entire region up to the mine in the village of Hade, including the
villages of Bardh i Madh, Grabovc i Poshtëm and Grabovc i Epërm.
Due to fear from shelling many villagers had to flee and to seek shelter
in safer regions.
In the village of Bresja,
police searched for weapons in the house of Demush Amaxhekaj (1953). Demush
had recently served a 2 month prison term under the same charges.
PRISHTINA: In Bërrnica
e Poshtme, Serbs burnt the house of Shaban Tmava. In this village only
one Albanian house is left. In the vicinity of the "black market" police
stopped Nuhi Z. Mani (1971), a student. His index was taken and he was
ordered to report to the Security Center for informative talks. In the
"Bregu i Diellit" quarter, 4 armed Serbian civilians severely ill-treated
Kujtim Pervizaj (1965), a baker from the village of Krajk near Prizren.
While travelling from Suhareka to Shtime, Nazmi Kolgeci (1971), a student,
living in "Ulpiana" st. E 30/3 6, was severely ill-treated and insulted
on a national basis by the police.
Rexhep Ramadani, father
of Agron Ramadani, who was arrested on June 11, stated that his daughter
Fitore Ramadani (1978) has suffered trauma the very same day. Eversince
she is under medical treatment at the Prishtina hospital.
Hysen Zogiani from the
village of Halilaq, a warehouse clerk with the "Hidroteknika" enterprise,
was kidnapped in front of his flat in the "Dardania" quarter. His car was
seized.
MITROVICA: On June 22,
in the village of Frashër i Madh, Serbian police summoned brothers
Mursel (72) and Adem Sefedin Hasani (60) for informative talks as unidentified
persons had burnt the cattle fodder and stable of a Serb villager. Policemen
stopped Avni Hysen Rexhepi (30), took his ID and ordered him to report
to the police station. Under the very same pretext Serbian inhabitants
burnt the haystacks in the yards of Feriz Hajriz Hasani (37) and Miran
Qazim Hasani (46). Fire was opened towards the houses of Azem Rrustem Rexhepi
(55), Xhevat Shaban Hasani (58) and Veli Mehmet Rexhepi (62). Due to fear
from a Serb massacre, 25 Albanian houses were abandoned. In the "Vitaku",
"7 Shtatori" and "Kodra e Xehetarëve" quarters in Mitrovica, as well
as in the villages of Frashër i Madh, Frashër i Vogël and
Suhadoll, where the population is mixed, the situation is very tense due
to the fact that Serbian inhabitants are armed and are provoking Albanian
villagers. Armed Serbs prevented Kurtan Qazim Hasani (44) from the village
of Frashër i Madh, from going home. 2 armored cars entered the very
same village and automatic fire was heard.
GJILAN: Abdurrahman
Bislimi (1948), a worker with the "Binaçka Morava" enterprise, was
arrested in his house by plainclothed policemen. He was physically ill-treated
and interrogated on his son Arben.
FERIZAJ: Xhemajl Fejzullahu,
chairman, Ismail Hyseni, member of the board of the LDK branch, and Bujar
Baliu and Nexhat Ramusholli, members of the presidency of the LDK Youth
Forum branch in Ferizaj were stopped and arrested by the police. Bujar
was physically ill-treated at the police station. In the village of Tankosiq,
police raided the house Behxhet Shahini.
ISTOG: Naim Imeraj,
an engineer, vice-chairman of the PPK branch in Istog, was summoned for
informative talks to the Security Center and was threatened. The police
commander in Istog summoned Fadil Ferataj, chairman of the LDK branch in
Istog, and Tahir Zekaj, member of the very same, for informative talks.
PRIZREN: In the village
of Rogova large military forces were stationed. Due to fear from an attack
many have started to flee the village. In the "Zef Lush Marku" Primary
School furniture was demolished and school documentation was destroyed.
KAÇANIK: Murtez
Faik Gashi (1962), a teacher from the village of Begraca, was stopped by
the police, handcuffed and beaten. He was ill-treated as he refused to
buy the policemen goods they requested. Nexhat Hamëz Raka (21) and
Skënder Demush Bela (1962) were beaten by a group of plainclothed
policemen.
PODUJEVA: In the vicinity
of the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina, Serbian police severely ill-treated
Bejtush Uka, a teacher with the Secondary School in Podujeva.
JUNE 23:
GJAKOVA: Clashes occurred
in the Reka e Keqe region between Serbian police and military forces and
KLA units. Lots of damage was caused in the villages of Nec, Ramoc, Smolicë,
Berjahë and other neighboring places. Many soldiers of the Yugoslav
army are surrendering their weapons. 6 soldiers deserted on June 23.
The situation in Gjakova
and its surroundings continues to be very grave due to the lack of food
and medicine. On June 23, some humanitarian aid was allowed into the region.
Its arrival is connected with the visit of the US ambassador to the UN,
Richard Holbrooke.
GLLOGOC: Serbian police
and military forces shelled the Llapushniku Gorge. Serbian snipers heavily
wounded Agron Murtez Brahimi (1972) from Korrotica e Poshtme. In the village
of Zabel i Poshtëm, Serbian snipers wounded Adem Haxholli and his
grandson Petrit Haxholli.
KLINA: Since June 20,
Serbian forces are shelling the villages of Dush, Gjurgjevik i Madh, Jashanica,
Jellovc and Cerrovik. In Gjurgjevik i Madh, Pranvera Llesh Prenaj, a pupil
with the secondary school, was wounded. In the village of Shtarica the
very same happened to a 13 year old child. About 1000 policemen were stationed
in the "Nora" motel. They are accompanied with tanks, armored cars and
heavy cannons. Policemen and armed Serbian civilians are provoking and
threatening Albanian citizens. An armed civilian went into Hil Dula's drug
store and threatened him with a gun. Hil's daughter fainted. In the villages
of Budisalc, Krusheva e Madhe, Shtupel and Rudicë, Serbs are shooting
from automatic weapons. In the vicinity of the shopping mall, 2 armed Serbian
youngsters stopped Demush Marmullaku from the village of Dush. He was beaten
and threatened with liquidation. Serbian civilians broke the gates of Haxhi
Ahmetaj in Klina. Military planes flew over the region.
After 32 days of pretrial
detention, Baki Dushi, Arben Desku, Bedri Manaj, Mahir Gashi and Gani Dallaveri
were released. They declared of having been tortured in the police station.
RAHOVEC: Serbs from
the police check-points in Kramovik and Gradisha are shelling the nearby
villages.
SHTIME: Since early
in the morning, Serbian police and military forces are shelling the villages
of Reçak, Rancë, Belincë and Carralevë. The situation
is very tense. Haki Adem Delia was wounded while pasturing the cattle in
Carraleva. Large reinforcements were brought to "Pishat e Shtimes". Military
planes flew over Shtime. A military convoy accompanied with 6 tanks, 3
trucks full of soldiers and a fuel carrying vehicle paraded through the
town.
GJILAN: More than 30
policemen searched for weapons in the house of Isuf Bajram Bajrami (1970),
a student, living in "Sava Kovaçeviq" st. 49. They demolished doors
and house furniture. During the police action Isuf was kept tied. Afterwards,
he was taken to the police station.
KAÇANIK: While
parading through the town, Serbian soldiers pointed their guns towards
passers-by.
MITROVICA: During the
last 2 days, Serbian police in the village of Boletin searched for weapons
in the houses of Zenel Kamber Peci (60) and Zymer Peci (70). Bekim Zymer
Peci (25) was summoned for weapons to the police station. In fear of a
massacre, 8 Albanian families fled the village of Boletin. A Serb from
the village of Frashër i Madh opened automatic fire on Veli Mehmet
Rexhepi (62).
PRIZREN: On the road
from Xërxa to Rahovec, in the vicinity of the vine cellar, 10 Serbian
policemen severely ill-treated Zadin Berisha (24) from Prizren, living
in "Kranji" st. 4. Many passers-by are ill-treated at the very same place.
PEJA: The District Attorney's
Office began the investigative proceedings against Selim Kryeziu (44) from
Peja, Din Gjelaj (51) from Strellc i Poshtëm near Deçan, Jah
Bushati (26) from Gërgoc near Gjakova and Agim (32) and Hysni Kryeziu
(32) from a village near Klina for "hostile activity" and "terrorism".
In the outskirts of Peja, Pal Jak Markaj (46) was stopped and beat up by
the police. Pal was travelling with his wife.
VITI: In the village
of Gërmova, unknown persons through stones on the house of Zylfi Mema.
Many windows were broken.
LIPJAN: Hasan Nishori
(1958), bill collector of the Financial District Council, was summoned
for informative talks to the police station. He was physically ill-treated
and DM. 60 were taken from him.
OBILIQ: Armed Serbian
civilians arrested Kadri Berisha (1949) and his son Bekim Berisha (1979).
The 2 were sent to the police station. Serbian civilians are ill-treating
Albanian citizens. Many villagers from Hada, mainly women and children,
have fled the village and were sheltered in neighboring places.
FERIZAJ: Police searched
for weapons in the house of Abdyl Kadri Ahmeti, activist of the LDK. They
seized party documentation. Policemen from the police station in Nerodima
arrested and severely ill-treated Shyqeri Xhemajl Hetemi, Mehmet Rasim
Hetemi and Isuf Qazim Hyseni. Due to injuries suffered they presented the
medical report. 2 policemen from the police station in Babush searched
for Rrahim Pajaziti. Rrahim has been living in Germany for the last 5 years.
JUNE 24:
DEÇAN: The shelling
continues in the district of Deçan. Serbian forces are opening fire
from tanks and armored cars towards the villages of Prejlep, Carrabreg
i Poshtëm, Carrabreg i Epërm, Shaptej and Gramaçel. Kadri
Hasan Delijaj (60) was wounded. In the village of Rastavica, Islam Zenel
Selmanaj was killed due to shelling. Large police, military and paramilitary
forces were deployed from Deçan and stationed at the Deçani
Gorge in order to hide the weaponry from the US ambassador to the UN, Richard
Holbrooke, who was to visit this town.
KLINA: In the village
of Dush, Sefer Bajrami and Rexhë Millaku were wounded due to shelling
by Serbian police and military forces. In Kijeva, Radosh Spasiq (52), principal
with the primary school in Klina, was killed. 2 sons of his are policemen.
SHTIME: Serbian police
and military forces shelled the villages of Belinca and Reçak and
towards the Carraleva Gorge.
MITROVICA: Local Serbs
continue to burn the houses of Albanian villagers in Frashër i Madh.
In the outskirts of the village, Serbian paramilitaries, led by Zhika Radivojeviq
(42), stopped Dibran Qazim Hasani (38) and his family. They were heading
home to take their cattle. Automatic fire was opened on them.
Sava Vasiq initiated
the burning of the Albanian houses. While passing through the village,
Dibran saw the houses of the following in flames: Veli (62), Gani (45),
Vehbi (40) and Avdi Mehmet Rexhepi (53); Hysen (60), and Rrustem Shaban
Rexhepi (72); Ismet (40) and Rexhep Rexhepi (44); Fejzë, Bahri, Fehmi,
Bejtullah and Hajrullah Rexhepi; and Sefedin Hasani (59). Haystacks, barns
and stables were burnt. Fire was opened on the 25 Albanian houses in this
village. Large motorized military forces headed for Frashër i Vogël
and threatened to burn all Albanian houses (17) in this village. In the
"Ura e Gjakut" quarter, police stopped Hashim Selim Jashari (67). His identity
was checked, and on seeing his family name his ID was torn and he was beaten.
In "Kroi i Vitakut", fire was set to the house of Bashkim Xhemajl Kabashi
(40). Bashkim is currently living with his family in Germany.
VUSHTRRI: Serbian paramilitaries
from the village of Pantina wounded Xhemajl Mehmeti (50) and Xhevat Mehmeti
(62). Ratko Zhivkoviq set fire to his haystack. On doing so he started
attacking Albanian villagers. He and a Serbian female were caught by KLA
units. Due to the current situation the villagers of Pantina, Okrashtica
and Shtitarica abandoned their houses. Serbian paramilitaries went to the
"Delije" cafe in the vicinity of the church in Vushtrria and ordered Albanians
living in this quarter to leave their houses. Otherwise, they were threatened
with liquidation. Serbian forces stationed in Prilluzha opened fire towards
the Albanian villages of Gllavotin, Bivolak and Strovc.
FUSHë-KOSOVA: At
the cross-roads of Fushë-Kosova, police stopped and arrested Xhevat
Abazi (1976) and Liman Jashari (50) from Gllogoc, already sheltered in
Prishtina, who were escorting a lorry carrying humanitarian aids to Drenica.
The driver managed to escape, whereas Xhevat and Liman were taken to the
police station and severely ill-treated.
PEJA: In Qallapek, Serbian
police arrested Dervish Selman Berisha (34) and kept him for 4 hours at
the police station. He was interrogated regarding the KLA, was insulted,
provoked and ill-treated. In "Gjurgjina Jovicevic" st. of "Dardania" quarter,
a Serbian policeman severely beat Muharrem Fetah Berisha (60), a teacher.
Enver Berisha (48) and Skënder Berisha (36) from Raushiq stated that
they cannot go home as the policemen have occupied their house. The very
same was stated by Idriz and Skënder Mulliqi, whose houses were burned.
FERIZAJ: On their way
back from the village of Zaskok, the team of "Doctors of the World" was
arrested and kept for 45 minutes at the Security Centre in Ferizaj. They
were interrogated on the reason of their visit to the Albanian village
and their car was searched. In Topojani quarter in Greme, police raided
and arrested Enver and Ylber Topalli, political activists. During the raid,
police physically ill-treated Enver and his brother Naim in the presence
of the family members. At a tea shop in the third region, 2 policemen physically
ill-treated Ismajl Tahir Dauti. Large police forces were noticed in this
region. A Serbian fellow-villager threatened Hilmi Hyseni (1949) from Nerodime:
"Where is your white turf, I'll cut off both your head and turf!" Compulsory
Board of the Pipe Plant expelled 5 Albanians for "safety reasons".
VITIA: Recently, military
and police movement have become frequent, especially in bordering zone.
Burim Qazimi (1981) from Dobresh disappeared on June 22. Eversince, his
whereabouts are unknown.
KAÇANIK: Ismail
Hasan Haxhoviti (1944), "16 Nëntori" st., was summoned and physically
ill-treated at the police station under the pretext that "he was a problem
maker".
PRISHTINA: Members of
special units in Hajvalia village chased children Fatlim Siarina (12) and
Valon Siarina (8). They also set a dog on them. After they caught them,
police took the children to their premises and bet them severely.
According to Belgrade
daily "Blic" 6 soldiers were killed and 21 were wounded in Kosova. According
to daily "Dnevni Telegraf", today, at about 1.00 p.m., a group of armed
Albanians kidnapped 3 Serbs from a bus travelling from Prizren to Prishtina.
Muhamet Fetah Qyqalla
(1957), a technician of the Open Pit in Bardh i Madh, was arrested by police
in front of the post office in Prishtina. He was taken to the police station
and severely ill-treated only because he is from Bardhi i Madh. Due to
injuries suffered, he had to seek for medical assistance.
KAMENICA: Bllagoje Stankovic
tried to set fire to the tractor with hay belonging to Lulzim Latif Ibishi
(1980) from Leshtar, while he and his mother Mihrije (1946), his sisters
Minire (1975), Bukurije (1978) and Zymrije (1986) and his niece Blerianë
Maliqi (1987) were returning from the meadows.
BELGRADE: Shkëlzen
Gashi from Klina and Elmi Hasani from Poklek i Vjetër near Gllogoc,
deported from Germany, were arrested at Belgrade airport.
JUNE 25:
GJAKOVA: Serbian army
from the direction of the villages of Reka e Keqe brought two unidentified
Albanian corpses aged about 26 and 45 in the city morgue.
DEÇAN: Military-police
forces from Junik shelled the place called "Rrasa e Zogut" towards the
border with Albania and from Suka e Biteshit towards Shaptej and Gramaçel.
In Çallapek of Lugu i Baranit, police set fire to the house of Xhafer
Thaçi, which was usurped a while ago.
SUHAREKA: Police from
the crossroads of Duhla and army from the place called Qafa e Duhlës
shelled Bllaca, over which planes flew. There was bombing from heavy artillery
or planes. Lots of damage was caused.
GLLOGOC: Serbian snipers
shot towards two children who were pasturing cattle and hit the car of
Jakup Tahiraj in Çikatova e Re. Planes flew over the Drenica region.
At about 10.12 a.m., a loud blast was heard in all Drenica region. Security
officers in two armoured cars and a car surveyed the terrain. A corpse
was found in Mirena near Lipjan.
SKëNDERAJ: At the
check-point in Shipol near Mitrovica, Serbian police beat Gani Fazliu and
Besnik Fazliu from Klina e Mesme near Skënderaj until they passed
out and threatened them with execution.
FUSHë-KOSOVA: Armed
Serbian civilians have been surveying quarters and spreading news that
they are going to attack Albanian families. A bomb was thrown at the house
of Ibrahim Begolli in Fushë-Kosova, whereas automatic fire was opened
towards the house of Llukman Gjata. Serbs have been writing Chetnik symbols
and graffities on the walls of shops owned by Albanians.
OBILIQ: Serbian police,
led by security inspector Zoran Stojkovic, distributed weapons to Serbs
in Plemetin.
SHTIME: Serbian forces
opened fire and hit the house of Mehmet Mehmeti in çesta near Reçak.
MITROVICA: Serbs continued
to set fire to the Albanian houses in Frashër i Madh. Serbian violence
is spreading in the following neighbouring villages along the railroad
Mitrovica - Fushë-Kosova: Frashër i Vogël, Okrashtica, Pantina,
Shtitarica. In Pantina, Xhevat Brahim Mehmeti (57) and Kemal Rrahim Mehmeti
(50) were wounded.
KLINA: Serbian military-police
forces shelled the village of Dush and heavily wounded Sefer Bajrami (1972)
from Açareva near Skënderaj and Rexhë Millaku (1953) from
Siqeva near Klina.
PRIZREN: After Yugoslav
army forces were stationed in the villages of Has near Gjakova, many inhabitants
of the villages of Demjan (Muhadër, Pnish), Rogova and Lipovec and
about 200 other people took shelter in the villages of Kushnin and Lugishta,
district of Prizren, whereas about 60 people took shelter in Prizren. About
30 policemen searched for Haki Gashi in Landovica, who has to appear before
District Court in Prizren for being in possession of weapon without permit.
FERIZAJ: In Greme, about
40 policemen and inspectors surrounded and searched for weapons at the
houses of Sinan, Avdullah and Shemsi Topalli in Topojani quarter and the
house of Shaban Viça in Omuraj quarter. During the raid, police
physically ill-treated Avdullah, Rizah, Shefqet and Agim Topalli and demolished
furniture. Prior to raiding the house of Shaban Viça, police opened
fire. Police stopped and physically ill-treated the following LDK activists:
Milazim Haliti, Hajrush Mani, Ilmi Hashani, Xhevat Sejdiu, Fahri Zejna,
Zylkylfi Omuri, Adem Misini, Muharrem Omuri and Idriz Shehu, who had paid
a visit to the families of the arrested Enver and Ylber Topalli. In Ferizaj,
police raided the house of Ahmet Hysen Hoxha (1944) from Plishina and arrested
and beat him. They also raided the houses of Cen Dugolli and Haxhi Bytyçi,
who were arrested on 21 June and are still under investigation. In the
outskirts of Ferizaj, police stopped passers-by Muhamet Ramadani (1964)
from Shtime and Agron Hajdini from Koshare and took them as "witnesses"
in raiding the house of Cen Dugolli. At the check-point of Gërlica,
police physically ill-treated Bardhyl Ratkoceri, a karate expert from Ferizaj,
and called him a "terrorist". Sahit Xhemajl Rexhepi from Nerodime e Poshtme
was taken to the police station in Nerodime and was subjected to physical
ill-treatment for some registers of which he had no idea. Due to injuries
suffered, Sahit had to seek for medical assistance.
PODUJEVA: At the crossroads
Lluzhan-Batllava-Tërnava, police opened fire towards the nearest forest.
The inhabitants started to flee. Large police forces and snipers were noticed
at the police station in Lluzhan. The situation is very grave.
PRISHTINA: Mehmet Dili
(63) from Orllan, living in Prishtina, "Jabllanica" st.206/46, stated that
he has no information on the whereabouts of his son Arben (1979) since
two weeks ago, when the latter was beaten by the police. Police beat Arben
on 3 March 1998 during the pan-national protests.
VITIA: Local policemen
took Milaim Sylejmani (1968), an economist from Sllatina e Epërme
near Vitia, to show them the house of Shaban Aliu. As he refused, policemen
handcuffed him, took him to the police station in Kllokot and severely
ill-treated him.
PEJA: Policemen set
fire to the police station in Çallapek and withdrew from this place.
They also set fire to the houses of Xhafer Dervish Thaçi and Smail
Bajram Thaçi, the car of Ismail Shala from Baran and another car,
looted goods from the house of dr. Ali Islam Berisha and Metë Malë
Gashi and demolished the front door of the house of Hazir Dervish Berisha.
On the way to Baran, Serbian police arrested and ill-treated Haxhi Adem
Berisha (41) from Jabllanica near Leshan and Zhuj Berisha (41) from Rosuja.
Both of them and two women were travelling by a tractor. Due to injuries
suffered, Haxhi had to seek for medical assistance.
ISTOG: Police opened
fire towards the house of Beqir Kabashi in Gurrakoc. Bajram Dreshaj from
Vrella was taken out of the bus and physically ill-treated by the police,
under the pretext that he was "aggressive" during the peaceful protests.
KAÇANIK: At the
check-point in Gërlica, Serbian police severely ill-treated Abedin
Sakip Hysa (1980) from Kaçanik, living in "Rakoci" st.40, as he
"spoke no Serbian".
JUNE 26:
DEÇAN: Serbian
police and military forces are attacking the villages in this region. From
Suka e Biteshit the villages of Gllogjan, Gramaçel, Shaptej and
Baballoç were attacked. Prejlep and Carrabreg i Poshtëm were
attacked by tanks and armoured cars stationed at Ura e Hasanëve. Drenoc
was attacked, too. Military forces burned huts in the mountains of Deçan.
The villages in Lugu i Baranit were attacked. The villagers were backed
by KLA units and by people from Vranoc, Buqan, Maznik, Dashinoc, Lluka
e Poshtme, Kozhar, Lumbardh and Bardhaniq. Lugu i Baranit up to Çeskova
was liberated. Albanian forces joined those in Jabllanica and Dushkaja.
In Strellc i Epërm, fierce clashes occurred between Serbian police,
military and paramilitary forces and KLA units. The Albanian side had only
one wounded. Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces looted all
the machinery from the furniture plant and "Gjeravica" Enterprise in Deçan.
GJAKOVA: In the evening,
Serbian military attacks continued on the villages of Reka e Keqe. There
was sporadic shooting in the villages of Rakovina, Kramovik and Cërmjan
i Poshtëm. 22 houses in Rakovina and 11 in Cërmjan were destroyed.
GLLOGOC: 7 tanks left
the military base in Çuka e Zabelit të Epërm and headed
towards the Bogaj quarter and Llapushniku Gorge. Fire was opened towards
the Llapushniku Gorge from the police check-point in Komoran. Military
planes flew over the region. Serbian snipers opened fire from the PTT building
in Gllogoc.
SHTIME: Serbian police
and military forces shelled the Carraleva Gorge. In Belinca, fierce clashes
occurred between Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces and KLA
units.
FUSHë-KOSOVA: The
situation is very tense in this district. The gravest situation is in town
itself, where armed gangs of Serbian civilians are looting shops, are breaking
and damaging shop windows and cars, are opening fire towards houses, etc.
The shops of Afrim Berisha and Arianit Ahmetaj were hit. A car was blown
around midnight. There was shooting from the military barracks in Vrella
in the vicinity of Sllatina airport towards the village of Pomozotin. Large
military forces are being stationed in the outskirts of Sllatina. Military
forces were stationed in the premises of "Aca Marovic" Primary School.
Different kinds of weapons were unloaded from the lorries. The school was
turned into a check-point in which Serbian civilians are drafted. There
is a feeling of insecurity in Fushë-Kosova. They fear an attack of
the Serbian forces against the villages of this region. Being in such a
position, people are evacuating women and children.
OBILIQ: Police are ill-treating
Albanian inhabitants of the villages of Plemetin, Hamidi, Sibovc, Hade,
Shipitulla, Grabovc, etc. At the check-point in Palaj, police are preventing
Albanian merchants from supplying the region with food.
VUSHTRRI: Serbian army
shelled the villages of Pantina and Okrashtica with heavy artillery and
demolished some houses. Luckily, women and children had left and taken
shelter in the villages of Lubavec, Vërrnica, Ashlan, Galica and Mitrovica.
At about 1.30 p.m., Serbian paramilitary forces burned the hay in the yard
of Gani Duraku in Stanoc i Poshtëm. They damaged his house by fire
weapons. Aleksandar Kompirovic from Bukosh opened fire in his own yard
in order to cause panic among his Albanian fellow- villagers.
RAHOVEC: Tens of policemen
in high alert and with guns pointed at people paraded through the town.
On the way to Xërxa, the same policemen opened fire towards the vineyards.
The village of Gexha is abandoned, many houses are damaged and the village
is shelled from time to time.
KAMENICA: Serbian police
forces stationed at the place called "Qafa e Koperrnicës" are provoking
and ill-treating the Albanian passers-by.
FERIZAJ: In front of
"Ispahani" tea shop, a policeman beat Emin Adem Hajdari (27) under the
pretext that he had looked at the policeman. Police searched for Avdyl
Faik Avdyli (1973) from Komogllava, who is in Germany for 4 years now.
A military helicopter flew over the villages of Mirash and Softaj.
PRIZREN: Two Serbian
civilians and a uniformed policeman went into "Aurora" private bakery in
"Bazhdarhane" and severely ill- treated citizen Gëzim Ninaj, "Ramiz
Sadiku" st.231, and workers Mentor Gashi and Shefqet Martinaj from Dushanova.
Police are ill- treating the workers of this bakery for the third time.
MITROVICA: The situation
is very tense, especially after many houses in the villages of Frashër
i Madh and Pantina were burned. Military planes and helicopters flew very
low over the town.
PODUJEVA: Serbian forces
opened fire for an hour after an unknown incident, which happened in Çuka
e Shakovicës near Lluzhan. A police convoy was shot at with automatic
weapons from the nearest forest. Afterwards, police stopped cars and buses
and lined up passengers to protect themselves from the "attackers".
PRISHTINA: Serbian policemen
stopped Alban Agushi (1974), a student from Gjilan, interrogated him, took
his index and tried to beat him, but he managed to escape. Ilir Kërçeli
(21), a student from Gjilan, was subjected to severe ill-treatment.
Serbian media inform
that two Serbs were killed in Rakosh near Istog. There were fierce clashes
between Serbian and Albanian groups in the vicinity of the village of Kijeva
near Klina.
LIPJAN: Some lorries
from Prishtina are transporting the machinery from "Ferronikel" in Gllogoc
to Medved. A part of that was transported to the military barracks in Vrella
and another part to the house of Sllavko Vujacic, a worker with "Ferronikel"
from Vrella. Serbian civilians and refugees from Croatia are provoking
Albanian natives. In Magura, a part of the Albanian population left their
homes due to fear from an attack.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
SKëNDERAJ: On June
8, after the attack of Serbian military- police and paramilitary forces
in Suhogërlla, Serbian police burned the private farm of Adem Alia
completely and looted 38 calves and transported them to "Dubrava" farm
near Istog for the needs of the police and army.
PRISHTINA: On June 11,
Serbian police searched for weapons at the house of Qamil Nuredini (1934),
"Drenica IV" st.31. They also searched for his sons Besim and Arsim. On
June 17, at the bus station in Subotica, Serbian police took out the bus
the following Albanian sportsmen from Kosova, who were travelling to Slovenia
to participate in the Athletics International Meeting "Velenje '98": Zijadin
Kryeziu and Naim Malazezi, athletes, Kadrush Kaçanolli, coach, and
Gani Kosumi, a sports journalist. The very same were subjected to physical
and psychological ill-treatment, as well as insults on a moral and national
ground. Arsim Zeneli (1974), temporarily employed in Lublana in Slovenia,
was severely injured. On June 20, Serbian police searched for Besim Gashi,
"Aca Mërdakovic" st. The pretext is unknown.
VITIA: On June 18, at
the police station in Ferizaj, 6 policemen severely ill-treated Izjah Emërllahu
(1963) from Ramjan near Vitia, who suffered heavy injuries.
PEJA: On June 18, in
the outskirts of the town, Serbian police arrested and physically ill-treated
Bashkim Q. Mahmutdemaj from Strellc and searched for weapons at the house
of his cousin Haki B. Mahmutdemaj, against whom investigative proceedings
began. On June 20, in the vicinity of the Footwear Combine, Serbian police
looted goods from Haxhi I. Lajçi, "Musa Zajmi" st.3, and arrested
Lavdim Tetaj, Shkëlzen Qerreti and Astrit Mazdreku - from Kryshec.
On the road Peja-Rozhaja, Serbian police arrested Agron Z. Dautaj from
Carrabreg i Poshtëm near Deçan, living in Peja. On finding
out that he lives in Peja, policemen released him. At the check-point in
Loxha, Serbian police arrested Azem Halil Zukaj (1953) from Beleg near
Deçan and took him in pre-trial detention in the District Prison
in Peja.
FERIZAJ: On June 18,
Kemajl Maliqi (1964), "Prizreni" st., was arrested and taken to the Prishtina
Prison after being interrogated. Investigative proceedings began against
him. He was subjected to physical ill-treatment during the investigation.
In the morning of June 19, unknown persons in a "Ford" car distributed
weapons to the Serbs in "Bledi" st. On June 20, in Koshare, some Serbian
policemen beat Nasip Rushiti (64) from Slivova and were interested in the
whereabouts of his grandson Zaim Rushiti. On June 20, 7 policemen arrested
Jakup Qerimi (27), retarded, as he had a quarrel with a Serbian security
worker.
ISTOG: On June 19, Serbian
policemen arrested dr. Anton Gegaj from Gurrakoc, a physician at the Health
Care Centre in Klina. He was taken to the Prison in Peja and investigative
proceedings against him began. On June 20, Vesel Boletini, an LDK activist,
was taken to the police station and interrogated on the killing of Rajko
Gujic, who died under unknown circumstances. On June 20, some policemen
beat Ylber Metaj (1975) from Shushica e Poshtme.
OBILIQ: On June 19,
Hajredin Mirena, a bus driver, was forced to transport the family of Draga
Spasic from the village of Palaj. Policemen threatened to take his son
hostage in case he refused to do as told.
SUHAREKA: On June 19,
in the village of Sopija, police physically ill-treated Ibrahim Elshani
(1962), a teacher with "7 Marsi" Primary School in Sopia; Bekim Elshani
(1972); Bajram Elshani (1961); Arsim Elshani (1979) and Burim Elshani (1977)
- all from Sopija. Bekim, Bajram and Arsim suffered injuries.
MITROVICA: On June 20,
15 policemen searched for weapons at the house of Zymer Peci (65) in Boletin.
They threatened to burn his house in case he refused to hand in his weapons.
