ON THE WIDESPREAD REPRESSION AND HARASSMENT PERPETRATED
BY
THE SERBIAN POLICE AND OTHER AUTHORITIES IN KOSOVA
FROM JULY 26, UNTIL AUGUST 2, 1998
After the offensive of
the Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces, many were killed,
massacred, wounded, kidnapped, arrested, ill-treated and brutally tortured,
many houses were burned and destroyed, cattle was killed, agricultural
crops were burned and wealth was looted. Apart from this, one of the main
aims of the Serbian aggression was achieved, which is the mass displacement
of Albanians from their ethnic territories. In order to make it impossible
for people to return to their homes, Serbian forces burned, destroyed and
looted their houses.
Albanian women, children
and elderly are harassed even in the Drenica mountains, where they had
taken shelter, with no food, water, medicine or medical care. There are
no possibilites to aid them. The Serbian regime, which claims that it considers
the Albanians as "its citizens", is doing everything to make their lives
harder.
The so-called humanitarian
crisis is escalating. Facing such a tragedy, it seems useless to list the
dead, massacred and those that died due to wounds or torture.
