On The Widespread Repression And Harassment Perpetrated
By The Serbian Police And Other Authorities In Kosova From November
8 Until November 15, 1998
There is no end to the repression perpetrated
by the Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces in Kosova. The
raids, arrests and ill-treatments, the lootings and burnings as well as
the killings of Albanian civilians continue. The corpses of those who were
killed and mutilated are found day after day. Serbian police and military
forces are repositioning their troops and thus preventing the stabilization
of the situation and the return of the displaced people to their homes.
The number of the displaced people who are still
in the open is not so small and it is increasing as many of those who tried
to return to their burned and destroyed houses are forced to flee once
again due to the terror perpetrated by the Serbian police, military and
paramilitary forces.
Killings, mutilations and violent deaths...
On November 10, Abedin Bujupi from the village
of Arllat-Gllogoc was killed by the Serbian police in Negroc. Police raided
many houses and ill-treated many villagers in Negroc.
On November 12, Xhafer Sefë Gashi (50),
an invalid, was killed by the Serb forces in the village of Mleçan
near Malisheva.
On November 5, Egzon Xhema (3 months) from Açareva
near Skënderaj died in the Prishtina Hospital as an aftermath of living
in the open.
On November 9, the decomposed corpse of Kadri
Nuhi Pajaziti (75) was found in the vicinity of his house in the village
of Çubrel near Skënderaj. Kadri was killed by the Serbian forces
on July 25. An unidentified female corpse was found in the vicinity of
the police check-point in Rakosh near Istog. The corpse is assumed to be
that of Fatime Salihaj from Shushica e Poshtme near Istog. She had been
reported missing since August 29. The decomposed corpse of an unidentified
Albanian was found in the vicinity of Malisheva. The corpses of policemen
Ilija Vujosheviq (1950) and Dejan Gjatllov (1975) were found in the vicinity
of Malisheva.
On November 3, Asim Maliqaj (1968) from the village
of Poslishta near Prizren was executed by the Serb forces in Lybeçeva.
10 days after being wounded, Muhamet Nezir Hoxha
(80) from the village of Cërmjan-Gjakova died due to the lack of medical
assistance.
On November 11, it was confirmed that 3 out of
the 10 Albanians from the village of Rudica e Klinës, who were kidnapped
on July 7, by Serb paramilitaries in Dobërdol near Peja, were executed.
The killed are:
Niman Shaban Bajraktaraj (1947), Bashkim Xhafer
Mehmetaj (1976) and Haki Abaz Ahmetxhekaj (1975).
On November 12, the corpse of Driton Hysenaj
(14) from Abria e Epërme was found in Likoc near Skënderaj.
On September 27, his throat was cut by a Serb
soldier. Driton had been considered missing.
Disappearances and kidnappings
There are no information on the whereabouts of
the following: Zade Marmullaku (70) and Haradin Marmullaku (53) from Gjurgjevik
i Madh near Klina (since July 27); Azem Qazim Bajraktari (13) from Klina
e Epërme-Skënderaj (since July 25); Feriz and Xhemë Xhema
(35) from Carraleva-Shtime (since July 25); Hetem Statovci (1967) from
Batllava-Podujeva (since November 8, the day when he was stopped by the
Serbian police at the Kelebia border cross with Hungary) and Hasan Mustafë
Aliu (23) from Krelan-Gjakova (since November 8, the day when he was arrested
by the Serbian police in Subotica).
On November 11, in the outskirts of Leposaviq,
groups of armed Serb civilians in the presence of Serb policemen, stopped
and kidnapped some 60 Albanians, including women and children. On the intervention
of the international observers they were released.
Trials...
In the Serbian run District Court in Peja, the
following were sentenced for "hostile activity" and "terrorism":
on November 10, Mujë Jashar Tafilaj (30)
and Sinan Xhemë Tafilaj (24) from Siçeva near Klina - to 3
years of imprisonment each; on November 11, Shaban Ymer Mehmetaj (1945)
and Gani Xhemë Ahmetxhekaj (1965) - to 4 years and a half each; Mustafë
Sylë Mehmetaj (1945) - to 2 years and a half; and Skender Ramë
Bajraktaraj (1952), Nezir Rexhep Bajraktaraj (1968), Arben Ahmet Bajraktaraj
(1972) and Luan Selim Ahmetgjekaj (1975) - all from Rudica near Klina -
to 2 years of imprisonment each.
THE COURSE OF EVENTS:
NOVEMBER 8:
MALISHEVA: Serb forces stationed in Malisheva,
Smonica, Kijeva, Llazica and Carralluka attacked a quarter in the outskirts
of Malisheva, several quarters in Carralluka, Tërpeza, Kijeva, Llazica
and the other villages in the district of Malisheva. The following were
wounded: Sejdi Berisha (40) from Kijeva, Jahir Shaban Mazreku (34) and
Nahit Selman Mazreku (18) from Malisheva.
PRISHTINA: A large number of Serbian police forces
were stationed in the vicinity of the Badoci Lake near Prishtina. In the
village of Tabanoc near Presheva on the border with Macedonia, Serbian
police confiscated and burned over 100 copies of the "Bota sot" newspaper,
published in Switzerland.
OBILIQ: There were fire shootings towards Bardhi
i Madh and Graboc.
PRIZREN: In Zojza, Serb policemen, stationed
in the house of Tomisllav Stankovic, a policeman, are ill-treating passers-by
without any pretext. Today, they stopped and ill-treated Haki Destani from
Zojza. Large military forces were stationed at the places called "Kumbulla
e Demës" and "Krisa" in Dobrusht. Due to their fear, Albanian children
from Dobrushta, Shkoza and Vërmica do not dare to go to school.
MITROVICA: Last night, Goran Milkovic opened
fire in the "Kroi i Vitakut" quarter. In the "Tuneli i Parë" quarter,
Serb locals opened fire. Many bullets hit the house of Bahtir Sabit Osmani
(36). The frightened inhabitants spent the night in the open.
GLLOGOC: In the vicinity of the farm in Krajkova,
Serbian police severely ill-treated many passers-by.
FERIZAJ: During the last two days, in Nerodime
e Poshtme, Serbian forces opened fire in order to frighten the Albanians
that had returned to their homes.
NOVEMBER 9:
MALISHEVA: Serbian forces, stationed in Llazica,
Smonica and Carralluka, opened fire towards Bubavec, Llazica, Tërpeza
and Carralluka. The corpse of an unidentified Albanian was found in the
vicinity of Malisheva. The corpses of the killed policemen Ilija Vujoshevic
(1950) from Prishtina and Dejan Gjatllov (1975), who were taken hostage
on Friday, were found in the vicinity of Malisheva. 40 Albanian houses
were burned in Balinca. The school building in Llazica was completely burned.
Serbian policemen in Llazica collected cattle, killed them, loaded them
in a lorry and took them away. Due to the feeling of insecurity, few Albanians
have returned to their homes.
SKËNDERAJ: The bones of Kadri Nuhi Pajaziti
(75), who was killed by the Serbian forces on July 25, were found in the
vicinity of his house in Çubrel. In the vicinity of the premises
of the "Mother Theresa" Humanitarian & Charitable Association in Skënderaj,
7 policemen stopped and arrested Muharrem Halim Rama (47) from Suhogërlla
and Agim Bajram Prokshi (39) from Runik. On interrogating them on the KLA,
they released Muharrem and kept Agim in detention.
ISTOG: In the vicinity of the police check-point
in Rakosh, a female corpse was found and it is assumed to be that of Fatime
Salihaj from Shushica e Poshtme, who was reported missing on August 29.
PRIZREN: In the outskirts of the village of Dedaj,
large military forces blocked the road to Lugishta e Hasit, stopped all
passers-by, prevented them from entering the village and closed them in
the premises of the primary school in Dedaj. Later on, on talking to the
military superiors, Albanian teachers and pupils were allowed to disperse.
20 villagers (women, children and elderly) from Lugishta were kept in the
school premises. About 1500 inhabitants of Lugishta remain stuck. Refki
Krasniqi and Halit Milaimi, teachers from Prizren, are among the detained.
Sheh Sali Muçaj was arrested and taken to the police station in
Prizren. There were sporadic fire shootings. Xhafer K. Kabashi (30) from
Kabash, who was wounded in the "Ahishte" forest on the Pashtriku mountains
near Lugishta, was brought to the Prizreni Hospital. Ismet, Rrustem and
Nexhat Kabashi, as well as the underaged Nezim and Gëzim Kabashi,
who had gone to the woods to cut timber, were arrested. While parading
through Romaja, the Serbian soldiers provoked the local inhabitants. Even
after the removal of the police check-points on the road between Prizren
and Gjakova, Serb policemen are ill-treating Albanian passers-by. When
the International Observing Mission patrols on this road, the Serbian policemen
hide in the "Orvin" Vine Cellar in Krusha e Madhe near Rahovec.
MITROVICA: In Skënderaj, Serbian police
stopped and took for informative talks Remzi Pajazit Durmishi (32) from
Rakinica near Skënderaj, living in Shipol near Mitrovica, who was
on his way to Skënderaj. In Shipol, 6 policemen stopped, severely
ill-treated and threatened Gjylasim (21) and Adem Ajet Baliu (19) from
Kopriva near Mitrovica, as well as their relative Fadil Murat Ngucati (19)
from Marina near Skënderaj. There were fire shootings in the "Kroi
i Vitakut" quarter late in the evening.
GLLOGOC: Serbian police forces opened fire towards
Arllat.
SUHAREKA: Late in the evening, fire was opened
from the police check-point in Reshtan, where Albanian citizens are subjected
to ill-treatment. In Leshan, Serbian police arrested Avdullah Halil Kryeziu
(38) from Leshan, confiscated his lorry and took it to Prizren.
PODUJEVA: Serbian policemen in two armoured cars
paraded through Kërpimeh, stopped in Bajçina, provoked passers-by,
and went on to Pollata, where they distributed threatening pamphlets against
Albanians.
KAÇANIK: At the Serbian Run District Court
in Prishtina, the following Albanians are facing charges for "hostile activity"
and "terrorism": Danush Kurtaj (1961) and Fatmir Kurtaj (1962) from Gabrrica;
Hasan Dalloshi (1956) from Soponica; Mejdi Dalloshi (1944) from Kaçanik,
an activist with the Educational District Council in Kaçanik; Xhevat
Haziri (1964), chairman of the Sub-CDHRF in Vitia; Tefik Raka MA (1939)
from Kaçanik; Abdylgafurr Luma (1961), an LDK activist from Glloboçica
- all under arrest; Hajrush Kurtaj (1966), Berat Luzha from Begraca, chairman
of the Association of the Political Prisoners in Kosova; Qamil Ilazi (1948)
from Kaçanik i Vjetër, an LDK activist; Naser Kuka (1961) from
Kaçanik; Reshat Salihaj from Duraj, Behxhet Imishti (1958) from
Dubrava; Remzi Elezi (1982) from Sllatina e Lepencit, a former political
prisoner; Naim Rakaj (1962) from Pleshina near Ferizaj - all in absentia.
RAHOVEC: In the vicinity of Arllat near Gllogoc,
some Serbian policemen stopped the lorry driven by Haxhi A. Hamza (36),
accompanied by Muharrem M. Haxhimustafa (25) - both from Rahovec, who were
on their way back from Medvegja. Policemen beat them severely until they
noticed two vehicles of the international observers. Then, the two were
released.
VITIA: Xhevat Sadiku (1954) from Gjylekara, a
teacher and an LDK activist, was summoned for informative talks at the
police station in Vitia. Serb inspectors interrogated him on his political
activity and his activity with the Financial District Council.
PRISHTINA: In the "Dardania" quarter, Ali Rrahmanaj
(1979), a student, and another student, both from Malisheva, were taken
out of a taxi and severely ill-treated by 4 policemen.
FERIZAJ: Policemen searched for Haqif Berisha
(1954), a former security worker, who is currently living in Germany. Unknown
persons stopped Sahit Grainca (1965) from Ferizaj, confiscated his BMW
car and his mobile phone.
NOVEMBER 10:
GLLOGOC: A police squad went into the villages
in the Llapushniku Gorge. Abedin Bujupi from Arllat was killed in Negroc.
Many villagers were physically ill-treated. The policemen took the corpse
of the deceased and his car with them. In Negroc, police raided the house
of Jakup Krasniqi, spokesman of the KLA, searched for his wife and threatened
to execute his father Januz Krasniqi. Last night, Serbian police and military
forces opened fire from different kinds of weapons. Due to the feeling
of insecurity many villagers of Gllogoc, Çikatova e Re, Poklek and
Shtrubullova, who had started returning to their houses fled once again.
In Gllogoc, police arrested 30 Albanian youngsters. Today, no shops are
working in the town itself.
SKËNDERAJ: On November 10, we were informed
that Egzon Xhema (a 3- month-old baby) from the village of Açareva
died on November 5, in the Prishtina Hospital as an aftermath of living
in the open.
PRIZREN: On September 3, Asim Maliqaj (1968)
from the village of Poslishta was killed by the Serbian forces in Lybeçeva.
Serb forces headed towards Lugishta. A military
helicopter flew over the border zone with Albania. The villagers of Dedaj
were given an ultimatum to hand in their weapons. On being kept hostage
for more than 30 hours, 1500 villagers of Lugishta were released. Women
were detained in the premises of the "Pjetër Budi" Primary School,
whereas men were kept in the open. Several villagers, who fainted due to
the cold, were taken into private houses in the center of the village.
Many villagers were physically ill-treated but hesitate to report their
cases. 16 villagers were taken in a truck to the military barracks in Prizren
and on being interrogated by military superiors were released. Rrustem,
Nexhat, Nazim, Gëzim and Ismet Kabashi were arrested on November 9.
On being brutally beaten in the military barracks in Prizren and on being
taken for informative talks to the police station, they were released.
On being detained for 24 hours, sheh Sali Muçaj was released from
the police station. Xhafer K. Kabashi (30) from Kabash was hospitalized
in the Surgery Ward of the Prizreni Hospital.
13 policemen, who were wearing military uniforms
surrounded the "Muharrem Bekteshi" Primary School in Billusha, causing
panic among the pupils. Ahmet Shala (1956), an 2 other activists of the
LDK, were ordered to report to the building of the district assembly in
Prizren, and were told to "co-operate" with the Serb authorities. 10 soldiers,
who were led by a military superior, intervened in the village of Poslishta
and told Hysen Krasniqi, Gani Hajdari and Hajredin Dinaj to report to the
district assembly in Prizren, to co-operate with the authorities. In "Ulqini"
st., Serbian police arrested Zeqir Halili from the village of Dabidol near
Rahovec. The pretext is unknown. Many villagers were ill-treated by the
Serbian police in Mamusha. The Public Prosecutors office in Prizren indicted
the following Albanians for "terrorism": Mon A. Karavidaj, Salih Hameli,
Kadri Jahaj and Sali Çunaj from Mazrek; and Muharrem, Mehmet, Dulë,
Avdullah and Mon B. Çunaj from Kojusha. Their pre-trial detention
was extended for 2 months.
GJAKOVA: At about 10.30 a.m., in the vicinity
of Korenica, a Serb tank hit the horse and wagon carrying the Avdullahu
family from Babaj i Bokës. Hava (70), Tima (35), Maxhun (45) and Afërdita
Avdullahu (6) suffered severe body injuries. Police forces were repositioned
in Cërmjan. A police and military convoy comprised of 6 trucks, 4
buses and 4 APCs full of policemen arrived in Gjakova.
10 days after being severely wounded, Muhamet
Nezir Hoxha (80) from the village of Cërmjan near Gjakova died due
to the lack of medical assistance.
On November 9, Isuf and Muharrem Jakupi, Serb
collaborators in the village of Osek-Hyla (members of the local police),
arrested Ramiz Bajrami (44). He was beaten until he fainted and was taken
to the Peja Prison. As the Serb forces usurped the premises of the "Pjetër
Budi" Primary School" in Demjan, 265 Albanian pupils can not attend school.
Military forces are obstructing the freedom of movement in the vicinity
of this school.
VUSHTRRI: 4 buses, 4 trucks and 3 vehicles full
of policemen arrived in the military barracks in Vushtrria. Police forces
in 3 armoured cars paraded through the town.
SUHAREKA: A convoy of the Serbian police forces
comprised of more than 30 trucks, buses and armoured cars passed through
Suhareka and headed towards Prizren. Passers-by were provoked. Xhemil Haxhiolli
from Nëpërbisht, a teacher with the local Gymnasium in Suhareka,
was arrested. In Shiroka, a police squad prevented Albanian secondary school
pupils from going to school.
PODUJEVA: At 7 a.m., a police convoy comprised
of 13 buses and 3 escort vehicles arrived in Kosova. There were large movements
of the Serbian police forces in Podujeva and the surrounding villages.
FUSHË-KOSOVA: A police convoy comprised
of 5 buses (Novi Sad plates), and 15 vehicles full of policemen paraded
through the town. Provocations by police and paramilitary forces have become
very frequent. Shooting is very common, especially after midnight. Serb
forces are not withdrawing from their positions.
PEJA: The Serbian run District Court in Peja
sentenced Mujë Jashar Tafilaj (30) and Sinan Xhemë Tafilaj (24)
from the village of Siçeva near Klina to 3 years of imprisonment
each. They were indicted for "hostile activity" and "terrorism".
MITROVICA: In the center of the town, 4 policemen
stopped brothers Nexhat and Nehat Mustafë Grepi (19) from Koshtova
e Bobit. They were brutally beaten and due to the injuries suffered had
to seek for medical assistance. In the vicinity of the green market, Shqipe
Halit Barani (22), living in the "Tavnik" quarter in Mitrovica, was stopped
and provoked by 5 Serbian policemen.
VITI: Zijadin Ibrahimi (1969), a student, member
of the board of the LBD branch in Vitia, was summoned for informative talks
to the premises of the Security Center in Vitia. Police inspectors Jakov
Jakovleviq and Kërsta Marinkoviq interrogated him on his political
activity, the KLA, his 2 uncles, who are working in Switzerland, and his
reasons for becoming a member of the LBD.
RAHOVEC: In Krusha e Madhe, Serbian police stopped
the bus of the "Sylatrans" agency. 5 Albanian youngsters from Rahovec and
its surroundings were taken out of the bus and detained.
DEÇAN: In Strellc i Epërm, Latif
Ibish Hasanmetaj (23) and Zekë Haxhi Hasanmetaj (23) were arrested
by the police. The 2 were indicted for "hostile activity" and "terrorism".
FERIZAJ: Musli Avdyli, who was arrested on November
4, was taken to court and the investigative proceedings were initiated
against him.
KLINA: The following were arrested, detained
at the police station in Novi Pazar and severely ill-treated: Avni Morina
from Dollova, Sami B. Gashi from Sferka near Klina and Mentor Kryeziu from
Xërxa near Gjakova. Dan Gashi from Sferka near Klina was physically
ill-treated in Rozhaja.
PRISHTINA: In Nëntë Jugoviq, Serb paramilitaries
physically ill-treated Bislim Ibrahimi and Isak Avdiu. They were insulted
on a national basis and DM 150 were looted from them.
OBILIQ: In the vicinity of the market, 2 policemen
stopped Adem Krasniqi (65) from the village of Shipitulla near Obiliq.
He was handcuffed, ill-treated and threatened. Dinars 700 were looted from
him.
DRAGASH: Bashkim Gashi was stopped by the police,
taken to the police station in Prizren detained for many hours and severely
ill-treated.
NOVEMBER 11:
MITROVICA: In the outskirts of Leposaviq, armed
Serb civilians, who were accompanied by more than 20 Serb policemen, stopped
all vehicles travelling on the road between Mitrovica and Belgrade, kidnapped
more than 60 Albanians, including women and children, and took them to
a village in the vicinity of Cërnac. On the intervention of the international
observers and after the release of the 2 Serbs who were detained by the
KLA, they were released. The following are some of the detained: Fadil
(43) and Nexhmedin Kadri Zeqiri (40) with his wife Sebahate Zeqiri, Istref
Ajet Sahiti (34), Ismet Salih Haziri (36), Fikri Hajrullah Abazi (29),
Bahtir Zeqir Tmava (36), Rrahim Hazir Kadriu, Sabit Hasani (45), Sabit
Muharrem Hasani (45), Bahrije (24) and Bashkim Nebih Ferizi (22), Rafet
Maxhuni, Shpend Ahmeti, Bekim Shefki Morina from Fushë Kosova, etc.

Later on, they were joined by 3 trucks full of policemen and headed towards
Skënderaj.
PEJA: On November 11, it was confirmed that 3
out of the 10 Albanians from Rudica near Klina, who were kidnapped on July
7, by Serb paramilitaries in Dobërdol near Peja, were executed. The

imprisonment each; Mustafë Sylë Mehmetaj (1945) to 2 and a half
years; and Skënder Ramë Bajraktaraj (1952), Nezir Rexhep Bajraktaraj
(1968), Arben Ahmet Bajraktaraj (1972) and Luan Selim Ahmetgjekaj (1975)
to 2 years of imprisonment each.
SUHAREKA: Last night, at about midnight, automatic
fire was heard from the police check-point in Reshtan. Today, fire shots
were heard from the police station in Suhareka. Police squads went towards
the villages of Studençan, Samadraxha and Tërnje. Police forces
have not withdrawn from Reshtan, Duhla and Grejçec. The Albanian
villagers of Moshlan are still under the iron siege of the Serbian forces.
Military forces are still stationed in Qafa e Duhlës and the Biraçi
mountains.
OBILIQ: Serb forces stationed in "Kërshat
e Grabocit" opened fire towards Shipitulla and Graboc i Epërm. The
villages of Sibovc, Lajthishta and Hamidia are under siege. The power lines
in these villages were damaged. Since November 5, electric power was cut
to Breznica. The villagers are provoked by the Serbian police and paramilitary
forces. Fire was opened from Plemetin, the "Kosova B" Power Plant and the
Serb houses in Obiliq i Vjetër.
PRIZREN: In the "Bajram Curri" quarter in the
outskirts of Prizren, 3 policemen insulted and severely ill-treated Lulzim
I. Hoti (1979), Ali I. Bytyqi (22), Shaqir Bytyçi (35) and Florim
Hoxha (21). 3 Albanian villagers from Poslishta were physically ill-treated.
Police stopped the bus travelling to Billusha. All the men were taken out
of the bus. The following were physically ill-treated: Mustafë Shala
(1970) and Ylber Bytyçi (1972) from Billusha as well as Artan Shala
from Jeshkova.
DRAGASH: Serbian police and military forces intervened
in the following villages of Opoja: Zaplluzha, Blaq, Bresana, Bellobrat,
Zym, Brezne, Buqe and Pllava. The villagers were told to cooperate in establishing
the local authorities. Many were threatened.
PRISHTINA: In the "Dardania" quarter, police
provoked Albanian citizens. A Serb employee with the Pediatrics Ward of
the Prishtina Hospital, named Stefa, assaulted Fixhrije Bunjaku (1962)
from Vushtrria, whose son is hospitalized in this Clinic. Fixhrije suffered
injuries on her face. Stefa assaulted the other women who were present
in this room and threatened to slaughter them all. Due to their fear many
Albanian women left the Clinic.
GLLOGOC: Hamdi Bardiqi was stopped by the Serbian
police, while on his way to Prishtina. He was taken to the police station
and threatened not to bring his family back to their house in Gllogoc.
PODUJEVA: A group of some 20 Serb policemen paraded
through the villages of Sveçla, Shajkoc, Batllava, Lluzhan and Lupç
and provoked passers-by.
GJILAN: At 6 a.m., a police squad of some 50
Serb policemen raided many houses in the village of Dobërçan.
The following were arrested: Halil Halili (1968), a football player with
the "Gjilani" FC, Kemajl Aliu (1967), a farmer, Jonuz Aliu (1958), a bill
collector with the Financial District Council, Shaqir Bislimi (1954), Ismajl
Abdyli (1963) and Isuf Abdyli (1965), workers, and Nazmi Abdyli (1958),
a former employee with the Civil Defence, now working in Switzerland. The
passports of Ismajl and Nazmi were seized.
KLINA: Serb forces opened fire towards the villages
of Volljaka, Llapçeva, Panorc and Sferka e Gashit. Jashanica was
shelled. Many armoured cars, APCs and trucks full of Serb soldiers and
policemen paraded through the center of Klina.
FERIZAJ: A Serb convoy with 2 tanks and 6 trucks
arrived in Ferizaj. Another convoy of 4 tanks and 2 trucks from the direction
of Tankosiq arrived in Ferizaj. Serb forces came from Talinoci i Jerlive,
too. Police raided the house of Haqif Berisha in the village of Nikadin.
He and his son Avdurrahman Berisha were taken for informative talks, under
the pretext that the word KLA was written on their wall.
SHTIME: Shaban Dugolli (16) from the village
of Pjetërshtica was severely wounded in a bomb blast.
VUSHTRRI: Police intervened in the offices of
the LDK branch in Vushtrria.
NOVEMBER 12:
MALISHEVA: Serb forces stationed at the check-points
in Kijeva, Mleçan and Llazica opened mortar and automatic fire towards
the villages of Plloçica and Gurbardh. Xhafer Sefë Gashi (50),
an invalid, was killed in Mleçan. Tens of Albanians were ill-treated,
such as: Agim Berisha (22) from Gurbardh. Due to the situation, the villagers
of Mleçan and Llazica fled their houses once again.
SKËNDERAJ: The corpse of Driton Nasuf Hyseni
was found in Likoc. He was among the 22 Albanians from the Hysenaj quarter
in Abria e Epërme who were arrested on September 22 and taken to Likoc.
According to eye-witnesses, on September 27, a Serb soldier cut his throat
with a knife.
PRIZREN: In the "Bajram Curri" quarter in the
outskirts of the town, 2 policemen stopped Nijazi Kryeziu (1951) and Besim
Kryeziu (1954), teachers with the "Muharrem Bekteshi" Primary School in
Poslishta. The latter was arrested.
RAHOVEC: Large police forces were concentrated
in Rahovec. These forces are parading through the town and ill-treating
passers-by. Early in the morning, 2 buses, 4 trucks and a vehicle full
of policemen were stationed in the "Park" Hotel. Police forces were stationed
in Xërxa and along the road between Prizren and Gjakova.
PODUJEVA: At 6.30 a.m., 10 buses full of policemen
arrived in Kosova. Later on, they were joined by new police forces in 5
buses, 4 trucks, 2 vans and 3 Landrovers. Some 20 Serb policemen paraded
through the villages of Bellopoja, Tërrnava, Halabek, Sveçël
and Shajkoc. Many locals were provoked.
PEJA: In order to prevent the Albanian villagers
of Graboc from returning to their burned houses, Serbian police arrested
Avdi, Sylë and Sadri Krasniqi. They were taken to the Security Center
in Peja and sent to pre-trial detention in the prison in Lipjan. The Serb
villagers of Gorazhdec continue the looting and burning of the Albanian
houses in Graboc. In the "Kristali" quarter in Peja, police raided several
houses. Mahir Berisha (21) from Llabjan and Ismet Krasniqi (21) from Baran
were arrested. They were taken to the Peja Prison under the pretext that
they are members of the KLA.
PRISHTINA: Serbian police stopped students Skënder
Zeka (1974) from Rakinica near Skënderaj and Nuhi Dema (1977) from
Muhazob near Podujeva. DM 120 were looted from the first one and DM 70
from the second. Some 20 policemen were stationed in the vicinity of the
"Ali Kelmendi" Primary School in Barileva. They went into the local policlinic,
threatened the medical staff and provoked the patients by pointing their
guns towards them. In the vicinity of Babimoc, police insulted and threw
stones towards 3 Albanian women. Due to injuries suffered one of them had
to seek for medical help. Many policemen were stationed in Drenoc. They
withdrew on the arrival of the international observers.
MITROVICA: During the day, there were large movements
of the Serbian police forces. Many passers-by were stopped and their identities
were checked. In the vicinity of the bridge over the Ibri river, 3 policemen
stopped Fadil Muhamet Morina (25) from the village of Gllareva near Klina,
sheltered in Mitrovica. He was taken to the police station, interrogated
and physically ill-treated. On being released he was ordered not to report
his case. Late at night, police arrested Fadil Kadri Zeqiri (43), living
in the "Tavnik" quarter.
GJILAN: In Dobërçan, some 20 Serb
policemen raided the houses of Fejzullah Aliu (1969), a farmer, and Sali
Shahini (1963), a football player with the "Studenti" FC. The 2 were arrested.
Fejzullah's passport was seized. Police searched for Naser Arifi (1970),
a student, and Sinan Abdyli (1968), a craftsman. Not finding them, police
detained Sinan's brother Adrian Abdyli (1964). On being brutally beaten
and subjected to electro-shock, Adrian was released.
FERIZAJ: There were large movements of the Serbian
police and military forces along the road between Ferizaj and Gjilan. While
working on a field, police arrested Ismajl Hamdiu (1974) and Xhevat Mehmeti
(1977) from Ferizaj. The 2 were physically ill-treated for more than an
hour under the pretext that they "work for the KLA". Sami Hamdiu from Ferizaj
was taken for informative talks to the Security Center.
VUSHTRRI: Serbian police severely ill-treated
Sylejman Lahu and Ramadan M. Ahmeti from Vushtrria.
NOVEMBER 13:
FUSHË-KOSOVA: Large police forces are still
stationed in Graboc i Poshtëm and Bardhi i Madh (at the places called
"Dheu i Kërshit" and "Mbi Kala"). Yesterday, policemen started preparations
for activating the police station in Bardhi i Madh. In the vicinity of
the Open Coal Pit Mines in Bardhi i Madh, police severely ill-treated Gani
and Selver Zogiani. The 2 were previously separated from their wives and
children.
MITROVICA: In the village of Nedakoc near Vushtrria,
4 policemen stopped the "Kosovatransi" bus. Fehmi Ilaz Kuqani (23) from
Çubrel near Skënderaj was arrested.
PODUJEVA: Some 20 Serb policemen, who were accompanied
by 2 armoured cars, headed for Obrança and Lumëmadh and provoked
passers-by. Police forces paraded through Bellopoja. Groups of 4-8 policemen
are patrolling through the town. Passers-by are stopped and looted.
PRIZREN: In Korisha, police stopped the bus of
the "Jeta" travel agency. 3 passengers were physically ill-treated and
suffered body injuries. Avni Ukaj is among the ill-treated. In Prizren,
Serb soldiers provoked and insulted those who attended the funeral of Selajdin
Braha (60), a political activist.
LIPJAN: Some 30 policemen were stationed in Mirena
causing insecurity among those who had returned to their houses. In Mirena,
police stopped brothers Bedri (27) and Agron Haxholli (19) from Shala e
Lipjanit. Agron was physically ill-treated as he did not know any Serbian.
SUHAREKA: In Shiroka, in the vicinity of the
building in which some members of the KDOM are stationed, police ill-treated
passers-by. At the check-point in Reshtan, police ill-treated Osman Gega
from Studençan. Serb forces were stationed in Krushica e Poshtme.
Many villagers who had returned to their houses were forced to flee once
again.
PRISHTINA: Some 20 Serb policemen in 3 APCs arrived
in Keçekolla. They checked the identities of passers-by, looted
the "Ylli" and "Drita" shops and physically ill-treated Hamit Aliu, a pupil.
NOVEMBER 14:
PRIZREN: In Landovica, 6 policemen stopped the
bus of the "Zhuri Trans" Travel Agency. 2 youngsters were physically ill-treated.
2 trucks and a Landrover full of policemen headed towards Zymi i Hasit.
They were stationed in the local police station.
VUSHTRRI: A police convoy comprised of 4 armoured
cars and a Jeep was stationed in the vicinity of the mill in Nevolan, the
clients of which are from the villages of Çiçavica.
MITROVICA: There were sporadic shootings in the
"Kroi i Vitakut" quarter during the night. Policemen patrolled through
the streets of the town and stopped passers-by and cars. 15 policemen in
an APC and a vehicle were stationed in the vicinity of the "Mother Theresa"
policlinic. They stopped passers-by and vehicles.
GLLOGOC: In Polluzha, police arrested and severely
ill-treated Rasim Istogu (1976) from Polluzha and Arsim Osmani from Gllogoc.
KLINA: In the village of Dush, police opened
fire towards Shaban H. Marmullaku (50), Jashar S. Marmullaku (51) and Saip
Sh. Berisha (32), who were on their way to their damaged houses.
FUSHË-KOSOVA: Unknown persons completely
burned the fast food shop owned by Fatmir Kelmendi.
NOVEMBER 15:
MITROVICA: In Shipol, police stopped the bus
travelling between Mitrovica and Skënderaj, checked the identities
of the passengers and severely ill-treated Besim Ahmet Geci (28) from Llausha
near Skënderaj for 2 hours. He was accused of being a member of the
KLA. Due to injuries suffered he had to seek for medical help.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
GLLOGOC: On September 24, in Kozhica, police
arrested Naim Imer Baleci (1973) from Çikatove e Re. On September
26, in Balinca, police arrested Arton Ramaj (1981) from Çikatova
e Re.
SKËNDERAJ: On September 27, Serbian forces
arrested Bekim Kuliqi (1975) from Abria e Poshtme. He and 25 youngsters
from the very same village were taken to the police station in Gllogoc
and further to the district prison in Mitrovica, where they were subjected
to severe ill-treatment and provocations.
ISTOG: On November 2, Serb paramilitaries severely
ill-treated Bekim Avdylaj from Kërrnica. He suffered severe injuries.
On November 5, they physically ill-treated Naser Hajzeraj from Uça.
RAHOVEC: In Krusha e Vogël, police beat:
on November 4, Hasan H. Thaçi (24) from Xërxa; on November
5, Shyqeri O. Thaçi (24) and on November 7, Sinan H. Thaçi
(22).
FUSHË-KOSOVA: On November 4, doc. Nazim
Qehaja with the help of the police beat and dismissed from work Shaban
Hashim Tërnava (1954) from Fushë-Kosova, a lab technician with
the "Medicus-M" private policlinic in Prishtina, the director of which
is Nazim. Shaban was twice summoned for informative talks and was ordered
to report again.
MITROVICA: On November 6, police intervened in
the premises of the electrical mill in Jashanica near Klina. They ill-treated
and arrested those present. They broke the left arm of Bekim Ajet Mala
(26) from Gllogoc, sheltered in Shipol.
FERIZAJ: On November 7, in Ferizaj, police took
out of the bus and arrested Shaban Shabani (50) from Pjetërshtica
near Shtime.

and Ahmet Bytyqi from Magura-Lipjan (September 5); Halil Pllana (1955)
from Lajthishta-Obiliq (September 22); Imer Baleci from Çikatova
e Re-Gllogoc (September 24); Shaban Kuliqi (1942) from Abria e Poshtme-Skënderaj
(September 26); Ahmet Ekrem Klloka (1925) from Prizren (on October 2, police
burned the "Lepenci" restaurant in Kaçanik).
On November 8, in the Barani quarter in Klina
e Epërme near Skënderaj, police burned the stables, owned by
Fazli, Hysen, Sadri, Sali, Selim, Behxhet, Xhevat and Shemë Barani.
On November 13, police burned the house of Vesel Dizdari in Zllapek near
Peja.
