FROM 21 FEBRUARY, UNTIL 28 FEBRUARY 1999
While the campaign of "mysterious" killings and massacres in the offensives of Serbian forces under the pretext of persecuting and liquidation of the KLA, the Serbian police and military forces are redeploying in Kosova. Under the pretext of "maneuvers", Serbian forces are attacking the villages in the region of Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Podujeva, Shtime, Prizren, Kaçanik and Han i Elezit etc. The last campaign of offensives of the Serbian forces in some regions of Kosova caused another displacement of the Albanians, which threatens with a humanitarian catastrophe. The raids, arrests and severe ill-treatments of the Albanian civilians are still going on...
Killings, mutilations, violent deaths...
22 FEBRUARY: The corpse of an unidentified person
aged 40 was found in the outskirts of Lipjan, in the vicinity of Konjuh.
- Sub-CDHRF in Gjakova confirmed that during the offensive of Serbian forces
in July last year Gjokë Sokol Krasniqi (1947) from Meqe (Gjakova)
was killed (17 July 1998).
23 FEBRUARY: The corpse of Sadik Ramadan Leskovci
(1973) from Fshati i Vjetër (Ferizaj), who disappeared last night
at about 8.00 p.m., was found between the villages of Prelez (Ferizaj)
and Babush (Lipjan). - The corpse which was found along the road Rahovec-Malisheva
on 17 February was identified. It is Zeki Isakaj (22) from Prizren.
24 FEBRUARY: Serbian police brought the corpse
of an unidentified person aged 50 to the morgue of the Gjakova Hospital.
The corpse was found in the vicinity of Bishtazhin (Gjakova) and it is
believed that he was killed 48 hours before.
25 FEBRUARY: The mutilated corpse of Salih Abdullah
Morina (1958) from Rogova (Gjakova) was found in the vicinity of the village
of Gjonaj (Prizren). On 22 February, he was on his way to the Gjakova Hospital.
- Florentina Bujupi (1) from Arllat (Gllogoc) died due to the lack of medical
assistance and difficult living conditions.
26 FEBRUARY: In the clashes with the Serbian
military forces in Vaganica e Poshtme (Mitrovica), the KLA members Gazmend
Qerim Baliu (22) from Kopriva (Mitrovica) and Muhamet Rexhep Gashi (30)
from Klina e Epërme (Skënderaj), both living in the "Bair" quarter
in Mitrovica. - During the attack in Randobrava (Prizren), Serbian police
killed Muhamet Muharrem Kabashi (63) and wounded his wife Fetije Kabashi
(55) in their house yard. Fetije was taken to the Prizreni Hospital. In
the centre of Randobrava, police machine gunned the "Ford orion" car, killed
and mutilated Avdyl Binak Bajrami (23), the owner, and confiscated his
car. - The corpse of Mehmet Reçica (1953) from Vranidoll (Prishtina),
principal of the primary school in Vranidoll, father of eight, was found
in Baraina (Podujeva).
27 FEBRUARY: The corpse of Ramadan Maxhun Dautaj
(58), who was reported missing since 5 June 1998, was found in Carrabreg
(Deçan). 28 FEBRUARY: In the outskirts of Gjakova, in the vicinity
of the village of Osek-Pasha, Albesian Sali Mataj (17) from Gjakova, a
KLA soldier, was killed and another unidentified Albanian was wounded.
- The corpses of two killed Albanians aged 20 were found in the vicinity
of the village of Tupec (Prizren).
Kidnappings and disappearances...
During the last week, we were informed on the following missing people: Beqir Zeqir Mici (16) and his wife Zarife Veli Elmazi (16) from Zabërgja (Klina) (since March 1998); Azemine Kryeziu from Mleçan (Malisheva) (since last year); Ilir Soba, Sadri Lokaj, Valon Mala and Dominik Përgjegjaj - from Gjakova, Blerim Januzaj and Mehmet Rrustemaj (45) from Dujaka (Gjakova), Driton Zeneli from Jabllanica (Gjakova), Agron Thaçi (17) from Skivjan (Gjakova), Muhamet Beqaj from Rracaj, Musa Halili from Popoc (Gjakova), Rrustem Alia (60) from Gërgoc (Gjakova) and Lutfi Isufi (32) from Piskota (Gjakova) (since last year); Fazli Dinë Ymeraj (14) from Palabardh (Gjakova) (since 16 February 1999); Zyle Nimanaj (1944) from Shushica e Epërme (Istog) (since 21 February 1999); Muharrem Ahmet Hysenaj (39) from Reçan (Suhareka) (since 23 February 1999) and Xhevdet Xhafer Hoxha (43) from Randobrava (Prizren). The following were reported kidnapped: Gani Qerim Hajda (1950), Ilir Abaz Dina (1978) and Qerim Izet Rexha (1980) - the three from Rahovec (since 23 February 1999).
Trials...
The Serbian Run District Court in Mitrovica convicted
the following for "hostile activity" and "terrorism": on 22 February -
Agim Bajram Prokshi (40) from Runik (Skënderaj) to 6 months of imprisonment;
on 26 February - Ali Nurë Nura (20) from Prelloc (Skënderaj)
to 1 year of imprisonment.
On 24 February, the Serbian Run District Court
in Prizren convicted Kadri Muharrem Morina (1956) from Reshtan (Suhareka)
to 2,5 years of imprisonment for "terrorism".
THE COURSE OF EVENTS:
21 FEBRUARY:
GJILAN: One of the spokesmen of the OSCE KVM,
Valter Ebenberger, stated that on the road Prizren-Gjilan, Yugoslav tank
units prevented the international verifiers to escort the military convoy
due to their "maneuvers". Soldiers threatened them with their weapons and
checked them. A similar incident happened in Gjilan when soldiers checked
the verifiers and forced them to give up on escorting the convoy of the
tanks of the Yugoslav army.
LEPOSAVIQ: Last night, Serbs in Stanishta prevented
the establishment of the office of the OSCE KVM in this municipality. They
threw stones to the houses rent for the purpose and cheered: "Leave Kosova",
"You are spies", "We do not want OSCE nor NATO" etc. They burned the OSCE
flag, which was raised on one of the houses. The verifiers left this municipality
at about today 9.00 a.m.
LIPJAN: In the evening, about 40 Albanian prisoners
were transferred from the prison of Lipjan to the prisons of Serbia.
MITROVICA: Last night, after midnight, an explosive
material was dropped in the house of Hamit Shaip Hamiti (50), in the "7
Shtatori" quarter. It caused material losses and panic among the inhabitants
of this quarter. In the vicinity of the orphanage in the "Bair" quarter,
Serbian policemen severely ill-treated Ferki Isuf Haxha (19) from Maxhera,
sheltered in Mitrovica. In the vicinity of the Ibri bridge, 3 policemen
stopped and severely ill-treated Besim Mehmet Meholli (25) from Melenica,
sheltered in Mitrovica and Visar Selman Ferati (18) from the "Bair" quarter.
In Subotica (Vojvodina), Serbian police took
out of the bus and arrested Ramadan Muja (65) from Kovaçica, who
was on his way to visit his sons in Germany.
FUSHË-KOSOVA & OBILIQ: Serbian military
and police forces, stationed at the place called "Kërshat e Grabovcit"
and the Open-Pit Mine in Bardh i Madh, opened fire towards the village
Graboc i Poshtëm (Fushë-Kosova), where the roofs of the houses
in the Sogojeva quarter were damaged, as well as Graboc i Epërm and
Shipitulla.
PRIZREN: At about midnight, armed civilians in
a car without plates opened automatic gun fire as soon as they entered
Lutogllava.
PRISHTINA: During the last two days, Serbian
military and police forces were stationed in Kolovica (suburb of Prishtina)
and threatened and ill-treated the local population.
PODUJEVA: Serbian police severely ill-treated
two members of the OSCE KVM - one of them from Lithuania and the other
one from Luxembourg.
FERIZAJ: In "A. Jakovleviq" st., 4 armed civilians
in a car attempted to kidnap Faton Lipovica and Enver Ndrecaj.
GJAKOVA: Serbian police took Melihate Boshnjaku
and Igballe Kuka from Gjakova for informative talks. They ill-treated Avdyl
Sadria (23) from Babaj i Bokës and Valon Mullatahiri, a retarded person
from Gjakova.
RAHOVEC: Large Serbian police forces were stationed
in all entrances of the town and in the town itself. Meanwhile, police
forces with heavy weaponry were stationed on the road towards Malisheva
and other places. A part of the Albanian population fled again. Serbian
forces were stationed in Denja, Kramovik and Çifllak, too.
ISTOG: Serbian police confiscated the documentation
of the local registration offices in Vrella, Cërkolez, Banja, Dobrusha
and Rakosh. A part of this documentation was taken to Istog and the other
part to Gjurakoc. Unknown persons attempted to kidnap Bajram Sejdiaj (1981)
from Banja (Istog).
BUJANOC: At about midday, on the road Strezoc-Presheva,
a tank left the military convoy which was on its way to the border with
Macedonia and ran into the car of Aziz Maliqi (1974) from Tërnoc.
Aziz was injured and his car was demolished. Two soldiers who tried to
give him the first aid were severely ill-treated by Serbian policemen.
22 FEBRUARY:
VUSHTRRI: At about 9.00 a.m., large military and
police forces stationed on the road of the village of Dolak, at the Metal
Sheet Plant in Vushtrri and at the military base in Frashër, started
to shell the villages of Dolak, Pantina, Okrashtica, Shtitarica, Oshlan,
Liqene and Balinca. There were fierce clashes between the Serbian forces
and the KLA forces in Shtitarica. Material losses were caused and the house
of Rifat Pllana was burned. 4 Albanian civilians were injured. Serbian
forces were stationed at the cross-road Novolan-Brusnik-Duboc and are ill-treating
the Albanian population. At about midday, Serbian military forces returned
to their military barracks in Vushtrri. However, the population of the
affected villages fled their homes, whereas the Serbian police blocked
the roads to Vushtrri to them. In Vushtrri, the following were arrested:
Shefki, Arben and Adnan Meholli, Jahush and Lulzim Pllana - from Shtitarica,
as well as other Albanians. In the evening, there were fire shots in Bukosh.
Later on, 4 lorries full of Serbian soldiers headed towards this place.
MITROVICA: Large military forces were stationed
on the hill connecting the "Bair" quarter in Mitrovica and the villages
of Frashër i Vogël, Vaganica, Pirç, Vërrnica and
Oshlan. They opened fire towards different directions. They withdrew at
about 3.00 p.m.. However, the local population had fled the villages. Serbian
policemen blocked the Hospital of the town, where some wounded Serbian
soldiers were brought. In the vicinity of the green market, 4 Serbian policemen,
one of them called Nenad, chased and arrested an Albanian youngster. The
following were severely ill-treated: Hajdar Miftar Shuti (40) from the
"Bair" quarter, Nysret Milazim Hajdari (16) from the village of Bare, Hasan
Shahin Begu (14) from Stantërg and many other Albanian youngsters.
While parading through the road Mitrovica-Leposaviq, Serbian police forces
opened fire towards Enver Gashi (31), his daughter Liridona (7) and Nysret
Peci from Zhazha.
PODUJEVA: In the afternoon, Serbian military
and police forces started to shell Llapashtica. Later on, they attacked
the villages of Burica, Godishnjak, Sallabaja and Majac. Material losses
were caused. Serbian forces were deployed in Përpellac, on the border
with Serbia, too.
SUHAREKA: Last night at about midnight, on the
road Suhareka-Prizren, in the vicinity of Gjinoc, fire was opened towards
the "VOCI" gas station, owned by Misin Voci. Today, fire was opened towards
Bajram J. Kuçi from a police car. Police forces at the check-point
in Reshtan opened fire towards Peçan i Vogël. Fire was opened
from Mohlan towards Budakova.
KAÇANIK: At the place called "Kashani",
Serbian army mined the bridge on the road Kaçanik-Hani i Elezit.
Serbian military forces were stationed at the place called "Çeshmja
e Pajazitit", 7 km away from Glloboçica, on the border with Macedonia.
Florim Sami Luzha (1977) from Begraca was stopped by the Serbian policemen
at the bus station in Ferizaj and was interrogated at their office. He
was subjected to severe ill-treatment and DM 50 were taken from him.
PRIZREN: On the road Zhur-Vërmica, Serbian
army dug trenches. It is believed that they mined that place as a wire
from that place up to the police station in Zhur is guarded by police and
army. The villagers are not allowed to pass that way. The inhabitants of
Vërmica, who were under the siege of the military forces yesterday,
were allowed to flee last night. Most of them spent the night in Zhur.
In the vicinity of the bus station, Serbian police stopped and arrested
Xhevxhet Tahir Fetahu (1953) and Dërgut Aziz Rexhepi (1956) - from
Celina (Rahovec).
OBILIQ: In the morning, fire was opened by the
Serbian military and police forces stationed at the place called "Kërshat
e Grabocit". Serbian police forces in armoured cars were stationed at the
entrances and the streets of the town.
FERIZAJ: After midday, on the road Rahovica-Ferizaj,
some civilians in a car without plates attempted to kidnap Islam Luma (1957)
from Elezaj (Kaçanik), living in Ferizaj. While, policemen were
stationed 100 m away and did not intervene. During the last days, a part
of war arsenal was transferred from the military barracks in Ferizaj and
taken towards Kaçanik and Brezovica under the police escort. Serbian
forces are still stationed in the premises of the primary school in Tankosiq,
whereas Serbian inhabitants fled their homes.
GJAKOVA: Serbian police arrested Hasan Gojani
(50). Gjergj Karaqi is in detention, too. In the meantime, the following
were arrested and after 3 hours released: Zef Biblekaj (40) from Gjakova,
member of the PSHDK Board, and Haki Fetaj (32) from Hereç.
VITIA: Minush Idrizi (1954) from Buzovik, member
of the Board of the LBD branch in Vitia, was summoned for informative talks
at the Security Centre in Vitia.
PRISHTINA: In the vicinity of Podujeva, Serbian
police beat the infants Sabri and Avni Pllana under the pretext that they
did not have their ID cards, even though they are still young to have ID
cards. In the centre of the town, two armed Serbian civilians stopped and
ill-treated pupils Milot Hasimja, Fitim Mustafa, Marenglen Rashica, Hazir
Zogu and Valon Ukaj. One of the civilians slapped an old lady who yelled
at them: "Don't touch the children!". Police did not intervene, but took
the pupils' ID cards.
GJILAN: Over 100 Serbian soldiers in an excavator,
a lorry and other digging means were stationed in the villages of Myçybaba
and Llashtica, along the road Gjilan-Presheva. Soldiers provoked the passers-by.
SHTIME: Local Serbs were mobilized in Shtime.
23 FEBRUARY:
VUSHTRRI: Since 8.00 a.m., Serbian forces shelled
the villages of Bukosh, Novolan and Dolak. Police blocked all roads leading
to the villages of Qyqavica. Policemen stationed at the place called Ura
e Gurit ill-treated many Albanian citizens. Ali B. Asllani from Bukosh
was ill-treated by police. They put a bomb in his car. In Bukosh, 5 policemen
and Sërgjan Iliq, a reporter with Associated Press, were wounded.
They had come to meet the witnesses of the killing that happened yesterday.
RAHOVEC: In the vicinity of the cross-road "Te
Rrasat", at about 4.30 p.m., some persons wearing police uniforms in a
car without plates, kidnapped Gani Qerim Hajda (1950), Qerim Izet Rexha
(1980) and Ilir Abaz Dina (1976). Meanwhile, the same persons attempted
to kidnap Ilir's brother Ibrahim Abaz Dina (1974). He managed to escape,
but he suffered injuries during the fight with the kidnappers.
SUHAREKA: Due to the insecurity caused by the
presence of the Serbian police forces in Mushtisht, a part of the Albanian
population fled the village. A considerable number of the inhabitants fled
Reshtan last night, even though the OSCE KVM representatives operate in
this village. A part of the population fled Studençan, Sllapuzhan,
Krushica e Poshtme and Budakova. The displaced population took shelter
in the safer villages and Suhareka, where situation is very grave.
PRIZREN: As a consequence of the redeployment
of the large military forces, the situation in the villages along the border
zone Kosova-Albania is very grave. The Albanian inhabitants of the villages
of Vërmica, Zhur, Dobrushta and Shkoza fled their homes.
MITROVICA: Police brought two wounded policemen
to hospital. In the vicinity of the green market, policeman Ratko Antonijeviq
and 3 other policemen arrested Halit Mustafë Mustafa (19) from Zasella
and took him in the vicinity of the railway station. There, he was subjected
to severe ill-treatment and suffered body injuries. Arsim Gani Ahmeti (20)
from Radisheva (Skënderaj), sheltered in the "Tavnik" quarter in Mitrovica,
was arrested and severely ill-treated at the same place. In the vicinity
of the "Adriatik" hotel, Bashkim Haki Morina (21) from Arllat (Gllogoc),
sheltered in Mitrovica, was severely ill-treated. In the evening, there
were fire shots in the quarters "Kroi i Vitakut", "7 Shtatori", "Bair",
in the Romans' quarter and in the part of the "Tavnik" quarter, where Serbs
live.
PODUJEVA: At about noon, 3 buses and 2 lorries
full of soldiers and policemen from Serbia arrived in Kosova. They were
stationed at the "Besiana" motel in Podujeva. Large Serbian forces with
heavy weaponry were stationed on the border with Serbia - in Përpellac,
Tashec, Shushnjak, Banja e Kurshumlisë, etc. Police vehicles are parading
through the town. Police forces are stationed in the entrances and the
streets of the town and are checking the citizens.
PEJA: In Peja, Serbian police arrested Ramiz
Thaçi from Lugu i Baranit, sheltered in Peja.
FERIZAJ: Three Serbian civilians arrested Gani
Lami (1954) from Gaçka, under the pretext that he owns a revolver
and that he transports bread to the village of Burrnik.
24 FEBRUARY:
PODUJEVA: In the afternoon, Serbian military and
police forces launched an attack against the villages of Llapashtica, Obrança,
Katunishta, Godishnjak, Sallabaja, Burica and Majac. The detonations can
be heard in the town itself. In Podujeva, Serbian police stopped, insulted,
threatened and arrested Halim Halili (50) from Murgulla, living in Podujeva,
under the pretext that his ID card is not valid anymore. Halim was released
after an hour, when his case was reported to the OSCE KVM.
MITROVICA: Since the early hours of the morning,
large movement of Serbian military and police forces was noticed. At about
10.00 a.m., 5 lorries, 3 jeeps and 2 APCs full of Serbian soldiers from
Rashka (Serbia) headed towards Stantërg. In the vicinity of the green
market, 6 Serbian police, among whom Mirko Steviq from Tuneli i Parë,
arrested Mirsad Mustafë Beqiri (19) from Oshlan (Vushtrri) and took
him in the vicinity of the Health Care Centre. There, he was subjected
to severe ill-treatment and DM 110 were taken from him. Policemen released
Mirsad when they noticed a car of the OSCE KVM passing by.
SUHAREKA: Large police forces in armoured cars
blocked all roads linking Suhareka with other towns. The situation is very
tense. On their way to school, Rifat Gashi from Krushica and Avdi Sallahaj
from Gjinoc, pupils with the III year of the primary school, were severely
ill-treated by the Serbian police.
KAÇANIK: During the last three days, Serbian
army has been stationed in the private shop of Enver Faik Berisha (1949),
a mechanic from Runjeva.
PEJA: In "Dardania I" quarter, Serbian police
stopped Mentor Smail Shala (22) from Cërmjan (Gjakova), sheltered
in this quarter of Peja. They took 200 dinars from him and threatened him
not to tell anyone about this.
DEÇAN: In Raushiq (Peja), Serbian police
arrested Xhevat Ahmetgjekaj from Isniq, a worker with the OSCE KVM in Deçan.
FERIZAJ: A convoy of Serbian forces of 6 tanks
and 2 lorries was stationed over the bridge in Bibaj. For half an hour,
soldiers held their weapons pointed at the Albanian houses. On the road
Ferizaj-Pleshina, Serbian police arrested Nebih Kashtanjeva (1961) from
Nerodime e Epërme, who was in his car with his children.
PRIZREN: A military convoy of 12 tanks and several
lorries was stationed in the vicinity of the Primary School in Landovica
in order to cause panic among the pupils. Later on, it took its position
in the vicinity of the "Pojata" restaurant. A group of Serbian policemen
intervened in the clothes market and ordered the vendors to split up.
VUSHTRRI: A police squad stopped and severely
ill-treated Shaip Sinani (41), Shemsi Dushi and another Albanian, who were
on their way to work.
25 FEBRUARY:
VUSHTRRI: Today, at about 9.30 a.m., large military
forces in 25 tanks, 21 lorries, 8 armoured cars, some rocket launchers,
mortars, heavy artillery and logistics from Prishtina headed towards Bukosh
and other villages of Qyqavica. Large military forces from Vushtrri headed
towards these villages, too. After 11.00 a.m., these forces opened fire
towards Bukosh. Loud detonations were heard. Oshlan was shelled. The population
is fleeing towards Vushtrri, Mitrovica and villages of Qyqavica.
MITROVICA: Large military and police forces were
stationed at the military depot and at the Water Supply Plant in Shipol,
on the hill connecting the "Bair" quarter in Mitrovica with the villages
of Vaganica e Poshtme, Vaganica e Epërme, Vërrnica, Pirç
and Oshlan, as well as the hills connecting the villages of Lushta, Zhabar,
Koshtova, Broboniq and Kopriva. Serbian policemen stopped and beat the
pupils Fehmi Shaban Barani (19) from Klina e Epërme, Hakif Raif Cimili
(42) and Halil Sahit Istrefi (34) from Bajgora e Shalës, as well as
Fahredin Hasan Shalaku (23) from Duboc (Vushtrri) - all temporarily sheltered
in Mitrovica. Serbian policemen intervened in the depot owned by Artan
S. Zeneli, looted goods estimated to 6.000 dinars and beat the owner.
SUHAREKA: At about 3.00 a.m., unknown persons
in a car opened automatic gun fire towards some private shops and a house
in Dubrava. In Mushtisht, during the night, an unknown person demolished
the shop owned by an Albanian.
OBILIQ: During the last three days, weapons from
the military depot in Prishtina were transported to a basement of the "Kosova
B" Steam Power Plant by a military lorry VJ 5695 and two other lorries
with plates PR 766 - 67 and PR 766 - 68, escorted by the Serbian police.
KLINA: Large police and military forces have
redeployed at the bauxite mine in Volljaka for the last 3 days.
PEJA: In the "Dardania II" quarter, Serbian police
arrested Fetah Hajdar Pantina (70) from Gllareva (Klina). In "Kapeshnica",
police arrested Skender Hoxha (55), a teacher with the Economic Secondary
School and an LDK activist. A youngster aged 18 from Zllopek was arrested.
GJAKOVA: Serbian police raided the shops owned
by Enver Mala, Shkëlzen Nuzmala, Ismet Roka and Kem Ahma.
LIPJAN: The compulsory authorities escorted by
the Serbian police took the documentation from the local registration offices
in Babush i Muhaxherëve and Kraishta.
HANI I ELEZIT: A Serbian military squad raided
many houses in the village of Goranc, on the border with Macedonia.
FERIZAJ: The compulsory authorities transferred
the documentation from the local registration office in Fshati i Vjetër
towards an unknown direction.
26 FEBRUARY:
VUSHTRRI: The offensive of the Serbian military,
police and paramilitary forces against the villages of Novolan, Bruznik,
Bukosh, Dolak, Shtitarica, Okrashtica, Liqej, Pantina and Oshlan is still
going on. The Albanian population fled towards Mitrovica and the yet not
attacked villages. In Vushtrri, Serbian police arrested Bahri M. Sogojeva
(24) from Graboc i Poshtëm (Fushë-Kosova).
MITROVICA: Serbian forces surrounded the villages
of Lushta, Vaganicë e Epërme, Vaganicë e Poshtme, Vërrnica
and Pirç. The majority of the population fled their homes. Serbian
forces opened artillery fire towards Pantina. Serbian military units dug
trenches around the building of the Water Supply Plant in Shipol. In Vaganica
e Poshtme, Serbian snipers opened fire on the car of an Albanian 6-member
family, who luckily managed to escape. However, the car was damaged. In
the evening, Serbian policemen raided many private cafes and shops and
ill-treated many citizens. In Frashër i Vogël, Serbian soldiers,
most of them old and bearded, with snipers and other weapons, were stationed
in the houses of Brahim Pllana and Gani Rifat Ahmeti (45). The Albanian
population of the villages of Vaganicë e Epërme, Vaganicë
e Poshtme, Frashër i Vogël, Pirç and Vërrnica fled
its homes. A part of it spent the night in the open or in the yards of
the houses in the "Ura e Gjakut" quarter in Mitrovica. Policemen arrested
Arsim Qazim Beqiri (23) from Bajgora.
PRIZREN: During the attack of the Serbian police
forces in Randobrava, the house of Afrim Ramiz Mustafa (38) was shelled,
the house of Hasan Hysen Ferati (50) was demolished, the cars of Musli
Sadri Berisha (50), Fadil Remzi Ferati (36) and Habib Hoxha were machine
gunned. Serbian police arrested Milazim Rexhep Hoxha (1964), Ali Sali Kryeziu
(1960), Rifat Hadi Salihu (1959) and Bajram Berisha (1951) - all from Randobrava
and Halin Kryeziu (35) from Retia (Rahovec). Serbian policemen and plainclothed
inspectors raided the house of Sejdi Kastrati (1944) in "Brahim Rexha"
st. in Prizren and arrested his son Ali (1977).
HANI I ELEZIT: In the vicinity of the villages
of Pustenik and Rezhanca, there were fire shots by Yugoslav army. Rezhanca
is under siege. There are large movements of the Serbian military and police
forces. People are fleeing and the roads are blocked. Serbian forces attacked
Pustenik and the population has started to flee.
KAÇANIK: On the border-cross with Macedonia,
Serbian border organs stopped 8 vehicles of the OSCE KVM. A motorized police
and military convoy of 12 vehicles, jeeps and APCs from Ferizaj headed
towards Hani i Elezit.
SUHAREKA: Since the early hours of the morning,
Serbian forces from Prizren were stationed on some strategic points around
Suhareka, the road leading to Reshtan and the Bajraktari and Gradina quarters
in Suhareka. The situation is very dramatic in Reçan and Reshtan,
too. Serbian forces are checking vehicles and passers-by in the streets
of Suhareka.
MALISHEVA: Serbian forces are opening fire towards
the villages of Panorc, Llapçeva, etc. Three military tanks arrived
in Kijeva.
ISTOG: Serbian forces were noticed around the
villages of Istog bordering with Drenica and the villages of Klina and
Peja.
RAHOVEC: 8 lorries, 6 armoured cars, 3 APCs,
7 jeeps and some other cars full of Serbian policemen and soldiers arrived
in Rahovec. Some of them headed towards Hoça e Madhe and Suhareka.
GJAKOVA: Unknown persons wounded the so-called
local policemen Mikel Abazi and his son Marjan from Ramoc.
OBILIQ: Serbian police raided the house of, arrested
and severely ill-treated Remzi Pllana (50). Three armed Serbian civilians
stopped and threatened Samedin Berisha, a pupil. Later on, the policeman
Zoran Stojkoviq arrested him, took him to the police station and severely
ill-treated him.
LIPJAN: Ramdush Krenzi (50) from Gadime e Poshtme
was stopped and severely ill-treated by the Serbian police in Mirosalc
(Ferizaj), who attempted to execute him.
27 FEBRUARY:
VUSHTRRI: The shelling of the villages of Okrashtica,
Pantina, Liqej, Oshlan, Taraxha, Galica, Lubovec etc., is still going on.
The detonations were heard in Vushtrri itself. Fierce clashes between the
Serbian army and the KLA units went on during the night until the early
morning. There are no information on the casualties, but the humanitarian
situation of the population is very grave. Serbian policemen severely ill-treated
Ismet Tërllabuqi from Vushtrri and confiscated the car of Enver Meholli
from Shtitarica.
MITROVICA: Since yesterday, after 4.00 p.m.,
Serbian army stationed in Frashër i Vogël is shelling the villages
of Pantina and Oshlan (Vushtrri), as well as Vaganicë e Poshtme, Vaganicë
e Epërme, Vërrnica and Pirç (Mitrovica). Serbian civilians
killed two Albanians and wounded an Albanian in Vaganicë e Poshtme.
Apart from the killed and wounded, there were large material losses. It
is believed that Serbian army took the corpses. Due to shelling by Serbian
forces in Shipol, the house of Sadik Imer Imeri (65) was hit and his wife
Xhemile Halil Imeri (60) was wounded, whereas in the "Ura e Gjakut" quarter
in Mitrovica, the house of Nexhmedin Hamiti was hit. On the road Mitrovica-Vinarc,
Serbian policemen stopped the bus of the "Hareja" travel agency and severely
ill-treated its owner Qazim Xhemajl Musliu (55) from Kopriva.
Since 22 February, Serbian forces in two armoured
cars go to the orthodox church in Boletin, tape the views of Boletin, Zhazha,
Rahova, Kelmend and Vllahi and provoke the pupils with the "Isa Boletini"
Primary School pointing their guns towards them.
Today, Serbian soldiers in 4 lorries headed towards
Frashër i Vogël, from where fire shots and detonations were heard.
Serbian soldiers in Frashër i Vogël prevented Agron Kadri Pllana
(27), who was on his way back from Mitrovica, from entering his house.
3 armed Serbian civilians paraded through the main street and headed towards
the bus station. 2 armoured APCs full of policemen were stationed at the
bus station. The policemen are ill-treating the passers-by. 5-6 policemen
are stationed on each cross-road and are checking the cars, as well as
ill-treating the passers-by. In front of the green market, Serbian policemen
arrested two persons. They arrested Arif B. Beqiri (28) from Bajgora and
an old man from Zabërgja (Klina), sheltered in Mitrovica, who were
travelling by the "Kosovatrans" bus. The Serbian civilians are mobilized
in the military barracks since the early morning.
PRIZREN: Large Serbian police forces were stationed
around the village of Pirana but were confronted by the KLA units. This
is the second attack of the Serbian forces in this region within the last
18 hours. Consequently, the population fled towards the villages of Mamusha
and Medvec. In the "2 Korriku" quarter in Prizren, Serbian police arrested
Ali Kastrati (25) under the pretext that he was a KLA member.
KAÇANIK: The situation in this district,
especially in Hani i Elezit and Rezhanca, continues to be very grave. 530
Albanians - mainly women, children and elderly, from Goranca fled to Macedonia.
They spent the night in the open. The number of the escapees in Macedonia
is over 1500. Nurtene Bushi (16) from Hani i Elezit with her mother spent
three days in the woods until they entered Macedonia.
PODUJEVA: Military and police forces shelled
and machine gunned Llapashtica. Serbian police in Prishtina stopped and
beat Faton Berisha (35) from Konushec (Podujeva) in the presence of his
sister. He was arrested and kept at the police station for 3 hours. He
was subjected to severe ill-treatment again and suffered body injuries.
DM 200 were taken from him and he was threatened to report the next day.
He was told that if he did not bring DM 1.000, he would be "liquidated
by the Serbian Security".
GLLOGOC: At about 5.00 p.m., at the Krivova Tower,
there were fierce clashes between Serbian forces and the KLA units. Serbian
compulsory authorities transferred the documentation of the local administration
in Gllogoc towards an unknown direction.
GJAKOVA: After the wounding of two Serbian civilians
in the village of Ramoc, large police and military forces in more than
20 tanks and other vehicles headed towards this village.
DEÇAN: In Ratisha, Serbian police arrested
and severely ill-treated Muharrem Arifaj (65) from Ratisha.
KLINA: Serbian police arrested brothers Osman
(36) and Salih H. Morina from Rixheva.
ISTOG: Serbian police arrested Shefqet Gjocaj,
a journalist with the RTSH and the daily "Koha Ditore", and his brother
Esat Gjocaj, an actor - from Kovrraga. They were released after an hour.
FERIZAJ: In the early hours of the morning, Serbian
police raided the house of Nazim Salihu in Ferizaj, under the pretext that
his sons are KLA soldiers. After the raid, they arrested Hajrush Hyseni
(40) from Smira (Viti), a guest of Nazmi. In the outskirts of Varosh, about
25 policemen stopped and brutally beat Rexhep Ahmeti, Lulzim Ahmeti and
Nazif Murseli, who were on their way from Ferizaj to sell timbers. Due
to injuries suffered, they had to seek for medical assistance.
28 FEBRUARY:
MITROVICA: Serbian military and police forces
went on with the shelling of the villages of Vaganicë e Poshtme, Vaganicë
e Epërme, Vërrnica and Pirç (Mitrovica), as well as Oshlan
and Pantina (Vushtrri). Apart from the material losses, it is believed
that there are killed and wounded. Serbian military forces opened fire
towards 4 Albanian civilians, who were making efforts to return to their
houses in Vaganicë e Poshtme. In the centre of Skënderaj, 8 Serbian
policemen stopped and beat Bashkim Dibran Hajra (17) from Shipol (Mirovica),
a pupil with the Economic Secondary School. In Kçiq i Madh, Serbian
policemen raided the house of Avni Shaqir Pllana (35). They arrested him
and Smajl Isë Osmani (60) from Bare, sheltered at Avni's house.
VUSHTRRI: Serbian military, police and paramilitary
forces are launching an offensive against the villages of Qyqavica for
the 4th time. The villages of Okrashtica, Pantina, Oshlan, Duboc, Galica
etc., were shelled during the night. All Albanian and Serbian inhabitants
fled the village of Bukosh, where Serbian forces were stationed.
According to the information of the head of the
OSCE office in Vushtrri, Mr. Ferdinand Shafler, the presence of Serbian
military forces in the villages of Qyqavica will last.
PODUJEVA: During the last two days, Serbian military
and police forces attacked the villages of Majac, Burica, Godishnjak and
Llapashtica.
RAHOVEC: Some Serbian policemen went into the
OSCE office in Rahovec and threatened the workers. Large police and military
forces paraded through the town and headed towards the villages of Hoçë
e Madhe and Opterusha. Serbian policemen and armed civilians were stationed
on the highest points of the town. The insecurity among people increased
after the kidnapping of 3 Albanians by the Serbian police. There are no
information on the whereabouts of Zymer Kadri Morina (54), a farmer from
Gexha, who was last seen in the afternoon at the bus station in Prizren.
KAÇANIK: Large police and military forces
in armoured vehicles are redeploying in the district of Kaçanik.
Fire shots were heard in the villages of Pustenik and Gajre. Goranca is
totally vacant. Albanian families are fleeing Bob. While fleeing Goranca,
Miqail Skënder Berisha (1964) was arrested by the Serbian army.
PRIZREN: Since 3.00 a.m., fire shots were heard
in the vicinity of the village of Tupec, where the corpses of two killed
Albanians of young age were found.
GJAKOVA: In the "Mulla Jusufi" quarter, last
night at 10.00 p.m., automatic gun fire was heard.
DELAYED INFORMATION:
FERIZAJ: On 17 February, under the pretext that
he fines only the Serbian inhabitants, Serbian policemen in Nerodime e
Poshtme arrested and ill-treated Bislim Uka (1945), a forester from Pleshina.
On 19 February, Serbian authorities in Varosh mobilized the Serbian inhabitants.
On 20 February, after the deploying of Serbian forces in the agricultural
cooperative and the premises of the primary school in Tankosiq, the families
of Raif Kamberi, Ismail Zejnullahu, Maksut and Fadil Maksuti fled their
homes.
FUSHË-KOSOVA: On 19 February, Serbian policemen
arrested and severely ill-treated Elisa Seferi and Amir Maliqi from Sllatina
e Madhe.
ISTOG: On 19 February, in Tomoc, Serbian policemen
arrested Isuf Zeqir Llumnica from Llukavci i Begut, a worker with the "Fan
Noli" Primary School. On hearing his shouts, his fellow-villagers informed
the OSCE KVM. After 3 hours, Isuf was released.
NOTICE: On 22 February 1999, we were informed that the killed person found in Gjinoc (Suhareka) on 21 February, evidenced on the Report No.459 as Muharrem Bytyçi (29) from Prizren, is Petrit Muharrem Bytyçi (29) from Prizren.
