«The Guardian»: Erst der Anfang der Geschichte im Kosovo

London (dpa) - Über die Folgen einer möglichen Vereinbarung zwischen Präsident Slobodan Milosevic und der NATO schreibt der britische liberale «Guardian» am Dienstag:
     «Gleichgültig, ob Marschflugkörper eingesetzt werden oder nicht und selbst wenn Milosevic allen oder den meisten Forderungen zustimmt - dies ist erst der Anfang der Geschichte. Er wird jedes Abkommen, das er unterzeichnet, zu umgehen oder zu verbiegen versuchen, wie frühere Beispiele zeigen. Man kann nur hoffen, daß im Westen kein Politiker an den Mythos einer Mittellösung glaubt zwischen dem, was die Menschen im Kosovo wollen und dem, was Milosevic will. Ihre Zielvorstellungen sind unvereinbar.
    Wie auch immer die gegenwärtige Krise ausgehen mag - der Westen wird sich früher oder später klar auf die Seite des Kosovo stellen und Truppen in größerer Zahl entsenden müssen, um die Menschen vor serbischer Gewalt zu schützen und jede Vereinbarung über ihre Zukunft polizeilich kontrollieren zu können.»
